Could we be overreacting?
HUGS HUGS HUGS...Ive been here and done all this all though the friends thing doesnt really work for me and I was only common law...my x is an ass that wont help and isnt invovled...anyway, if you ever need to talk or vent or anythign, I am here for ya...Here's an update I sent to my family:
I'm sorry to mostly communicate with email, but I have been sort of keeping my thoughts to myself during this difficult time. I do know all of you will be there for us. Just wanted to post an update for you.
Scott is moving into an apartment. It is nice, new, with lots of amenities. We'll have a nice room done up for the girls to share when they stay there (well, I'm sure we'll have plenty of ideas for "stuff" to get them for Christmas to help make it nicer). He may begin to move in this weekend.
We haven't told the girls yet, but plan to very soon. We feel we need to read up on what to say first so we don't screw it up too bad. If anyone has any links to online resources, or knows any good books, please let us know.
We can still both be reached on our cell phones. I have purchased a new cell phone (###-###-####), but for the time being am still mostly using the old cell phone number.
We have both met with a counselor named Bill Ferguson. We plan to see him again today, go to a seminar next Tuesday he is hosting and maybe even attend a weekend workshop with him next weekend (might need sitters?). This guy is amazing. His website is . I think Scott and I can resolve our conflicts, become friends, and become better parents. I do think we will remain separate though.
On to a couple of nice things to report. I've been trying to get my whole life together and have some good news.
From July 31, 2005 - October 31, 2006 (15 months), I lost 25 lbs.
The second thing is I've been ready to go back to work and yesterday got two job opportunities. Both of these companies made me feel awesome. They pursued me and really made me feel wanted. It was a tremendous ego boost.
One jop opp is with *** (my old employer), which will now be known as ******** (or ***) after a $1.2 billion buyout by Bob (and some equity investors) of one of our chief competitors. It'd be in the marketing department, and would be something of a sales position, called product demonstrator. Salesman gets in the door, qualifies the lead, needs to put on a demonstration to sell the client on the software. That's when we come in. Without boring you too much, much of the experience I gained at *** flows right into this position. I'm used to presenting to, cajoling, communicating with dealers, their managers, and our sales force. Finding their buttons and turning them on to the system was one of my favorite parts of the job. It'd be a 2-3 day trip during the week, twice a month, more if I want it. The kids are in school all day and Scott will want them some weeknights anyway, so it works out. Though this part isn't worked out yet, they are willing to at least match what $ I made when I left (hopefully more, though I'm thrilled with at least that), are willing to have very flexible hours (**** said I could work 6 hrs per day if I needed time to be with my family), may get vacation this year for Christmas, may keep my 8 years tenure (with 3 wks vacation, goes to 4 after 10 years). And they said, we want this to be a fit for you. We want you in this department, but if it's not a fit for you, you can go anywhere in the company you want.
Can you imagine how all those words felt to me????????
Before I went to this second interview yesterday, I scheduled a lunch meeting with a man who used to work at ***. He was a top salesman for them in California and I installed several of his clients. He and I got along very well. He retired when he was in his early 40s a few years ago. He is in Houston now, and he can't stand not working and is putting together a company selling products in the dealership industry. He showed me the lines and I think it's very exciting. He wants me to run one division, build it, have equity in the company. He knows I've been involved with our mulch company, ***, and I had told him I built one part of our company (the playground work) into the most profitable segment and the direction our company is headed now. He believes in me and my ability to build a company. This is a high risk, high reward opportunity. I don't want to share too many details yet, but you'd get it if I did. I would get paid well, would have amazingly flexible hours, and already have ideas for who to bring on. You all know I've thought of starting my own business, and to be backed by resources would be awesome.
So, wow, yesterday was an amazing day. We've had a roller coaster ride lately, but I can't tell you what a relief it is to know I'm wanted by people who know me in the business world.
Wish me luck!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Could we be overreacting?" Now I know this is supposed to be one of the 'safer' answers but it's worth killing over!
