I'm Hannah and I lost 30lbs in 2011 after an all time high of 180lbs. I started grad school in 2012 and accidentally gained most of it back =_=

I took a picture with my amazing boyfriend after he got sworn in as an attorney, and I was so disappointed in my appearance. The jeans I wore on the trip were unbearably tight and that night I decided to stop screwing around and get slim for me and also for my man. Since I never reached my goal weight in 2011, I've decided to give it another shot. I've started training for my first 5k that will take place in mid march. I've also adopted some diet methods I used in the past like eating fruit for breakfast and cutting out sugar. Hope to see good things soon!!

Bleh I had some sweet tea with dinner the past 3 nights, even though I'm supposed to be cutting it out. I've been really busy with work and it's that time of the month so we've been ordering out and it's hard to say no when the drink is included with the meal. Ugh.. Well I'm not too sad about it since I have 5 more days to make it up. (Tho my food choices were reasonably healthy)

Starting a diet is always the hardest for me because I want to see results right away haha. After a week of working out and dieting, I do feel a change though I know it's not noticeable yet. It's frustrating because I work in a nice resale store on the weekend and whenever I see something cute, I'll try it on but most of the time I end up feeling disgusted and depressed because I have lumps in all the wrong places. I just want to look slim and cute T-T

Feelin kind of sad. At the park i go running at, there is a lake and a bunch of geese and ducks and such. One day out of the blue, a big ol' rooster appeared. He'd crow in the mornings and stand under trees when it was raining out. I guess someone picked it up or it finally wandered off because I haven't seen it the past week or so.

Dinner tonight was hibachi chicken and chicken fried rice made with brown rice. I think the only really iffy thing I used when cooking was some garlic butter. Last time I lost weight I went vegetarian so eating meat at dinner and being -ok- with that is still something I'm not used to. It was really tasty though.

Good luck in your journey. I have also lost weight in the past and gained it back. It's hard and annoying but as long as we keep trying we'll hopefully eventually get there (and stay there).

Mystic: Yeah :)

Bleh didnt get up early enough to go run and when I went to work out tonight in the apt gym, some goon was on the elliptical the whole time i was there. Well I did some weight lifting but I don't think it was a productive session overall.

Made shake and bake chicken with a baked potato and broccoli for dinner tonight. Pretty good but I am mad craving some carbs like crazy. Had a little honey in my night time tea with a banana which kind of helped a little bit.

Didn't get a chance to run this morning since I had to be at work early. I probably could have gone in the afternoon but I was pretty drained. Between increasing my hours at work and trying to finish my thesis among other projects and problems around my apartment, Ive just been so stressed lately. So far, working out and watching what I eat have been a sort of highlight to my days. Tonight I wore a pair of jeans that normally fit pretty tight, but they weren't uncomfortable. Had a little chocolate today that my work gave me but it was only a few bite sized pieces and its probably the first real sugar I've had all week... Kinda had an iffy past 2 days with carbs but I didn't go overboard.

Excited and nervous for weigh day on Sat.

Hi taboo. Every little good choice you make is a big step forward. They build up, until you are making many more good choices than bad. Every single time you choose well, take the time to acknowledge it & give yourself credit. Too often we dwell on our mistakes. We will always have something to learn about ourselves & it's up to us to make the most of life. Cheers, Cate.

Hey Taboo! Sounds like you've got a lot on your plate right now. It's great that you're making time for yourself, too. If we put it off too long we'll just find new excuses, right? Enjoy those better fitting jeans!!

cate: aw, that's really good advice! I guess it's just hard to do that sometimes.

oaks: yep!! It's like there's never gonna be a 'right time' to get healthy, so might as well start doing it now so you can get the health benefits and look good for the life stuff that comes later. :)

running this morning was nice. It's been soooo chilly but it's nice because the park has been pretty empty. Starting out is kind of crummy, but it feels sooooooo great once you've run a mile and warmed up.

Feeling pretty good about my weigh in tomorrow. Even if it's no loss on the scale, i feel like my body has changed regardless, so it's a good feeling. I'm glad that I made it my goal to run a 5k as opposed to focusing on weight loss because I think it will help me through the plateaus a bit more. I've been reading up on some marathons (after reading t) and I think it would be cool to make it a long term goal to run a real marathon one day, maybe a year or two from now. Could be a fun way to motivate myself while getting out and seeing the world! Well we'll see haha.

Woke up to a -4.6 weight loss this morning, putting me at 171.4! Can't believe it haha. Hope next week will put me in the 160s

Since it was Valentine's Day and also Saturday (which is the one day of the week I wont count calories), me any my boyfriend ended up eating a really nice dinner at a favorite restaurant. I feel a bit guilty now but I have the rest of the week to make it up at the track.

I still can't get over -4.6 like... I've NEVER lost that much at once before. Feels really good... But in a 'thank god what I'm doing is actually working' kind of way haha

Congratulations! That's an awesome loss! It's so reassuring when you know you're on the right track.

Haha I think Valentines Day is an acceptable reason to treat yourself just a little (whether it be to have a nice romantic dinner with your special someone... or to drown your single person sorrows in alcohol).

jade: Thanks!! <3

Tipsy: hahah yeah definitely <3

Cooked a little beef and broccoli with brown rice last night and it was pretty good. Told my BF that it was his night to take care of dinner and he wanted pizza of course haha. I told him I wasn't really up for pizza but to get me a salad, and he decided to just get pizza for himself for lunch and that we'd go somewhere so I could order something not so carb-y. Its funny how much stronger i am at making good food choices when I work out in the mornings. I guess it just feels like doing a work out for nothing if I can't watch what I eat too. In a weird way it feels like I'm collaborating with myself, haha. It's a trust exercise with my mind and my muscles!

Oh! I ran .15 miles further than I normally did in my 5k training this morning just by walking and jogging a bit faster than normal. Feels sooo good. I can't wait till I can run that whole 1.5mi track without stopping.

A belated welcome Hanna! Great loss so far! I am super happy to have another runner around!

I struggled with the couch to 5K because I tried to run too fast during the running parts. I was also in a super unhealthy place when I tried it. I think it's a great program and you are in better shape and much younger than I was when I tried it. I still think it's worhwhile advice not to try to run as fast as possible when starting out or getting back to running reardless of the program. If you're feeling good you are doing it right. I had to start out with short slow walks that wore me out, but I built up slowly and now I run every day. You'll have fun and be amazed at how quickly you progress.

I look forward to seeing your continued success!

Q: Running is great, isn't it? Haha I love to run and walk because it's a great time to think about stuff. I definitely won't be running too fast because I have the stamina of a daisy haha. Hopefully training will help me get more energy for running as well as just everyday stuff. But it's great to meet another runner!! :) and a Texan too!! I live in Georgia right now for school but my home-home is in the Houston area. Don't you just love running in that lovely August weather?

I'm in northeast Texas which isn't quite as swampy as Houston, but close enough to be miserable. When I first started running it made me tired and I did less than when I was sedentary. That really changes. I do way more now then when I was sedentary and feel better doing it. I was ticked off Monday as I ran a pretty quick 5K (for me) and I had trouble sleeping. I don't miss it wearing me out, but I could always count on sleeping like a baby after an effort like that. I guess I'll have to try harder. ;)

What is your field if you don't mind sharing? I'm a wetland biologist myself.

I know I'm late to mentioning this, but I loved reading that story about the Boston Marathon (especially considering that I'm a Boston girl now.) What an amazing story!

I also love running. Sadly this time of the year is very cold and snowy around here, so I get to run only on the treadmill, which I don't like. Oh well, but what it needs to be done, needs to be done! :) You are doing great!

Q: Gosh I hope the energy kicks in soon like that!! haha. It'd be nice to be a bit more energized at work after my morning workouts. And I'm an animation major! Hoping to do animation for games or maybe film one day. Wetland Biologist sounds really cool though!! Do you get to work with a lot of animals?

Oaks: Isn't it though?? :) Hard to believe that stuff happened in the 60s/70s (I read that women were banned for a few years). It's really cool to know that she's still out there running marathons and inspiring people today haha.

Mystic: Thanks!!

Viola: Thanks!! Good luck with the treadmill!! Hopefully it will warm up soon :)

I probably say this every week but I don't know how this week's weigh in will go... Hoping for the best but it doesn't really feel like any less 'jiggle' than there was last week. I'm sure the next two days will tell though. I made chicken marsala tonight with asparagus and roasted potatoes which is.. ok. Not toooo particularly fattening and I had a light and healthy breakfast/lunch of course. I also bought a box of girl scout cookies because I felt strong enough to limit myself to 1 after dinner. I'll have a couple this saturday but I thought it would be a good test for me (and a good dessert for my BF).

In the mornings I like to spend a few minutes reading weight-loss success stories and looking at photos to kind of motivate me for the day. I read this one story about this girl who lost weight and the biggest thing she noticed was how different it felt riding in the car, how much more comfortable it felt to wear a seat belt and how much easier it was for her to sit in the bath and fold her legs up against her stomach. I think that's what I noticed most when I lost weight and I reallllly cant wait to feel those things again. I think that's been my biggest motivation to lose weight: just the general discomfort in doing boring things like sitting and leaning against a counter and wearing a seat belt. I'm sooo excited to wear my Peas on Earth shirt again (which was my 'goal' shirt I wore when I reached 150)
