I have a goal date set in stone, my wedding day. I am getting married to the most wonderful woman in the world and I love her with all my heart. She makes me smile when I am sad, she makes me happy when I am already happy. I love her and I can't wait to marry her.

For the better part of a decade + I have struggled with my weight. At my worst I was at 285 lbs, and at my best I was 199 lbs. I'm a short guy at 5' 8". It's all in my stomach.

Three months ago I was training to be in a relay for a marathon. I was 235 lbs then. I ran my leg of 6.1 miles at 265 lbs without stopping in an hour and 15 minutes. The problem is I GAINED 30 lbs while training. Well I didn't put the effort in my diet, I ate bad I drank booze and voila. Today I put a stop to it for the 17th time. I recall quitting smoking over ten years ago, it took me at least 15 attempts so I am hoping this is the one for weight loss. I am hoping that the most important day of my life is enough motivation to make it happen. My goal is to lose 80 lbs in a little under 13 months.

My run this morning went well, the exercise is the easy part for me, it will never be difficult for me to go do a workout because I love working out. For me it's my calorie intake. I like to eat and I like to drink. That is my challenge, that is my struggle. Yesterday I ate about 1800 calories, today my goal is the same.

I realize that everything I put in my body is a choice, and today I choose me.

Wish me luck! I want to be able to post in the before and after section for my wedding.

Greetings! I'm working out of Winnipeg for the summer, so hello to a fellow pegger!

Anyways, you are attempting to lose 80 pounds in about 13 months. Which is definitely do able! I know girls can be a great motivator so I think you should have all the motivation you need :).

From experience, I'll let you know some of the things that I feel have made me somewhat successful.

Firstly, create a journal on this forum and update it daily. It keeps you focused on your goal everyday and the support from other members can really help.

Secondly, set a plan for yourself. Not just for your entire weight loss journey, but monthly goals, weekly challenges, daily routines and meals. Determine each week how you are going to eat healthy and how you are going to exercise. Plan for the future, the Winnipeg winters are cold, plan for how you will exercise when it's -40 outside! Plan your meals in advance, knowing what you are going to eat can really help you avoid food that is unhealthy. Plan your workouts, and stick to them. If you decide to take a day off because you're too tired, that's okay. Just make sure it doesn't turn into 2 or 3 days in a row.

Thirdly, educate yourself! There are hundreds of articles on this site where you can find what a healthy diet consists of, and all sorts of helpful weight loss information.

Lastly, don't beat yourself up over it. Your weight will fluctuate, try to weigh your self consistently (same time, same scale, same amount of clothing or lack there of), but you have to understand that you may go up 1 pound one day. This is okay, if you are diligent with your diet and you consistently exercise your weight will go down and you will reach your goal. Good luck!

So yesterday I had a goal of eating about 1800 calories and I think I ate about 2100. Not a big deal cause it's still less then I normally would of eaten and it was mostly veggies and protein.

This morning I woke up not wanting to do my workout so I jumped on the scale, down 2 lbs from Monday and I figured that was great, no need to workout. Then I came here and looked at the title of my thread and thought, the most important day of my life is coming up, I gotta go run. So I ran, it was tough today because I was not in the mood to do it.

Do any of you find that a workout is way harder when your not in the mood to do it? Story of my life!

Anyway, moral of the story is, workout even when you don't want to, I feel great now that I did it.

Your goal is definitely attainable if you stick with your diet and exercise. Good luck and congratulations on your engagement.

Thank you!

So today is one of my rest days so the diet is extremely important on days like this. Yesterday I had roughly 1600 calories. I like to switch it up between 1500-2200 a day. I don't know, it feels like it works. I've lost about a pound a day this week so things seem to be working for me.

I told myself I would weigh myself once a month but I love seeing the progress. It keeps me motivated I guess. Another motivation is coming on these forums, I can really see the advantage in that. Anyway, off to make some eggs. Have a good day everyone.

Well my morning run went good, I ran for longer then I expected so that's a bonus. I'm probably going to be eating a bit more today cause we are invited to a friend's house for sushi and I love sushi! I figured if I run extra today and tomorrow it will make up for the extra calories I'll be eating.

I keep picturing the future me and I love what I am seeing, I'll be running in triathlons, half marathons, marathons, playing more sports and enjoying life to it's fullest. Maybe I'll get into kayaking, swimming, the sky is the limit.

:iagree:

Congratulations on your engagement!! You will definitly get to your goal weight if you stick to your plan. I'm 5'7 and all my weight goes on my stomach also. Oh and my arms have a life of there own!!!

I can totally relate to you when you say on days you dont want to work out, the work out is harder. But afterwards that feeling of achieving the impossible is soooooooooo worth it:D

Good luck in your future weight loss!!:)

Well this morning I was too sleepy to run so I will have to run tonight after dinner. That's ok though, as long as I do it. This weekend I was bad, I drank too much booze, I ate too much, but at least I still ran, and I ended up not gaining any weight somehow. I actually lost a bit so that was great. I'm down 3 lbs in the first week and I am happy with that.

I just hope I can control myself next weekend. Weekends are the bain of my existence. I am way too busy and I have way too much to do socially, and our social group likes to have a few drinks and enjoy good food. I just need to learn not to do that in excess.

I'm down another pound today :). I have a game of slow pitch tonight so today is a rest day for me. I can't help but weigh myself every day. It's an obsession I guess. I wish I knew why but I don't.

I need to lose another 5lbs by August 1st to keep up my pace to 80 lbs lost by the wedding. I should be able to do it. I am looking forward to looking great!

Thanks!

Today was a strange day for me. I did not want to run at all this morning but I did anyway. It was hard as hell at first, but as the run went on it got better. Now that it's done I feel fantastic!

I find it funny how mindset is just as important at the physical aspect of running. I hope to remember this lesson next time I don't feel like running.

For sure, your mentality is huge for all workouts, especially running. That's great that you got out there, you always feel great after finishing your run. The more you run, the more you'll improve, and the more you'll enjoy it! Keep it going, you're doing well!

I taught myself a valuable lesson this weekend. I can still go out with friends, eat bad food and drink some alcohol and lose weight. I did it through moderation. Instead of 5 slices of pizza, I had 2. Instead of 12 beers, I had 6. I also ran before going out too. Which I am sure helped with the extra calories. I am very social and these situations face me every weekend. I am not willing to cut out my friends for my weight loss so I am willing to moderate as much as possible.

Today I feel great, I was really tired yesterday so I went to bed super early. I slept for a much needed 10.5 hours.

Way to go! I've learned to moderate too. I don't drink beer but if I had six glasses of wine, I would pig out on the pizza so I admire your willpower.

Nice, there are some foods that are just so hard to stop yourself from eating. Chips and pizza for me are so tough to stop myself from eating. Chips you just keep going and going. And pizza slices are so easy to put on your plate.

How has your exercise been coming along?

Pretty good, I always run before going out with friends. Tonight I plan on running 4 miles. Should be good cause I have energy today.
