Hi guys, I'm Jay. I'm in highschool and I'm really skinny only 130 pounds, I came here to get tips and I don't where to start at all... Everyday around 1:30 I run for 15 minutes, but it got boring so I mixed it up, today I would run, tomorrow I'd work on my dancing and then the next day I would practice my Martial arts. I wanna get bigger but the foods they tell me to eat aren't exactly good for my taste, if guys could help me get bigger that'd be great, I'm willing to do whatever is possible to reach this goal. I also play basketball a lot!

And about the depression part, I mean, I see these really buff guys in like 9th grade and it hurts my self esteem a lot, I know I can't exactly be like them but all i wanna do is bump up my size not like fat but muscular, and I was wondering about weight training but my parents won't let me, I don't know why, they say it'll stunt my growth. Joining a gym is literally impossible for me, I don't drive and don't have any rides..

Your body is still developing. If you look around you, I don't think you'll see many buff 15 year olds. Just be patient and give it time.

Your parents, however, are wrong. Lifting weights does not stunt your growth. If your parents have any doubt about that, they just need to ask any reputable sports medicine specialist (or any reputable doctor, really).
If you want big muscles, there's no way around weight lifting. Martial arts or basketball won't help you in developing a muscular body, but they are great for your overall health.

If you can't go to any gym, I can offer you an alternative: bodyweight training. You can develop an amazing, muscular body without pumping iron. You can do it with just your own body and a few everyday items that everyone has in their home.
Download (or buy... preferably buy :p) the book called "You Are Your Own Gym" by Mark Lauren and Joshua Clark. They have a ridiculous amount of exercises for beginners, intermediates and professionals in there. Give it a go if you want!

Try to learn as much as you can about how the body works, and what you need to do to build muscle mass. Learn what exercises are suitable for beginners, look at how they are done correctly. Good form is the most important thing when lifting weights.
Also, learn about proper nutrition.

At the end of the day, how well you're gonna do lies in your own hands. Good luck to you.

If you want to build up your muscles - there are lots of exercises in the exercise section of our parent site.

Go to
http://www.fitness.com/exercises/

They also have forums that are devoted to body building with sections like teen bodybuilding which could be perfect for you.

Our part of the forum focuses on weight loss which does not sound like it is your problem at all.

I will say to you however what I would tell anyone here... Do not let other people erode your self esteem. We have it within our power to work hard and improve our fitness levels by eating healthily and doing exercise. We often choose to do exactly that. No-one however has the right to judge us for being the way that we are now.

How tall are you and what is your daily eating habits like? My brother went through the same situation and the thing that helped him was to eat above his daily calorie intake everyday and workout.

If you don't have access to weights, you can do bodyweight workouts. A good start would be pushups for your chest and upper body, dips using a chair for triceps, plank for core strengthening, bodyweight squats and lunges for legs, pullup for your back using the door knob.
