Are your supplements really helping?

I'm an RN doing preliminary research on a business idea for helping people optimize fitness and health. I need as many people as possible to answer this poll:

If there were a service in fitness centers where you could have blood drawn by a nurse or certified phlebotomist and could request any lab test desired, would you use this service?
If yes, how often might you use this service?

Would you be intesested in vitamin levels? Testosterone? Creatine? DHEA? HGH? Other hormone levels? Which ones? Any other blood tests?

This service would not be covered by insurance as the tests are not ordered by a physician. Cost would depend on test. You would be provided with normal parameters for any test but would be referred to discuss any abnormal values with your physician.

Thanks for your help on this.

I would not do it. If I had any concerns (which I don't,) I'd go to see my doctor. The information these tests would give would certainly need a medical professional's translation.

How much would testing cost (ball-park estimate)? Would you test for testosterone levels? If so, then you'd have a fairly large market. Mostly, if not all, "juiced" but the market is there.

A lot of doctors get skeptical if you ask for that type of testing regularly.

To answer your question directly. I would probably not have blood work done at a fitness center.

(note: I am NOT on gear and don't encourage it but don't really care if anyone chooses to take vitamin "S".)

Don't think I would get blood drawn at the gym. Unless my doctor needed blood work for a new medicine I was taking (recently had blood work done for adderall) It would be much more convienient to get my blood work at the gym than having to go to the doctor's office in the morning.
