Are nice abs possible after c-section????

Does anyone know a good routine to get my abs back after a c-section? Is it possible? Any ideas?? I do an ab routine and I am excited they are there-but they still have the reminents of surgery like scars and distended skin/extra fat layers...Not alot but more than I would like..Any ladies get rid of the c section tummy?? Thank you..

I had twins and a c section, went from 115 lbs to 185 lbs. I worked my butt off and had a six pack after and was 118 lbs solid. BUT part of that is genetics. Not everyone will be able to get a flat stomach. You can develop distention, and the lose skin will depend on both your working out and your genes.....

LOL, oops, kinda left that part out didn't I? :speechless:

well, back then I was a bit of a fiend. I would get up, chug my coffee, eat something (like a fruit) and deal with my kids ( they were babies, so change them, feed them, etc...) and then do an hour of floor exercises. (Sit ups, push ups, leg lifts, bridges...You name it I probably did it!)

Then I would throw on my running shoes, bundle the kids up, grab the rottie (our dog), and go for a run. Around an hour. At first I couldn't run to save my life, but I worked up to 6 miles a day (eventually 10).

Then I would get back home, change the kids, feed them, etc, take care of the dog, then, back on the floor for another hour of exercises.

Now personally, I wouldn't recommend this.

What you should first do is make sure you have a good diet. It's number 1 on your list, because without a good diet, you will achieve nothing.

As far as exercises, it depends on what you have. You can do many effective exercises without ANY equipment. An ab routine will only strengthen your abs, it won't do anything for the fat, or lose skin, or surgery scars.

Diet will help the fat. Cardio is one of the easiest ways to manage fat, which is why I think it is so often recommended. Lose skin, is genetic, and the surgery scar is too. Not much you can do but wait and see.......

What do you have available to you exercise wise (i.e. equipment, gym, etc...)

I have a good diet(low fat, low cal, high protein ect) ..lost 30 pounds and counting..I jog 3 miles 5x week and walk 3 mile 2x per week. I also, strength train with a total body sculpt of fit tv 3x per week...I see improvement, but its still lose skin, soft-n-spongey(for lack of a better word) It's been about 3-4 months and I am working my but off!!! I guess I should just be happy its not all stretch marks....It's still work in progress....I just hope its an obtainable goal:) Thanks for the input

Well, then it is a matter of time and genes :)

Sounds like you are doing what you can to help the process. It can take some time for your skin to spring back, but as I said before, it is also genes.

Good luck!

For your scar, you may want to invest in a bottle of Vitamin E gel. Of course it probably won't completely elimate it, but it will definitely help minimize the appearance over time. Try this...

You can use it for just about anything or anywhere, and apply it as liberally as you want.
I recently discovered that it also works best compared to other hair gels even though it's not marketed as such.
