Well I fell great however its 4:49 in the morning I worked out again yesterday technically I guess by that I mean its Tuesday now and I had a great work out Monday. I’m feeling really really good about things I think im already looking better I started working out 12 days ago and eating right again 5 days ago. but ever since I’ve started doing the working out again and eating right I’ve had trouble sleeping. More on this below…

How needed is sleep to shed weight?

I’m happier then I’ve been in a very long time as well. I used to be slightly depressed and I’d take sleeping pills or bottle of wine to get me to sleep but I can say full heartedly that I feel the best I have in a while if not the best I ever felt and would like some tips on getting sleep without pills or alcohol, do sleeping pills hurt weight loss?

I’m going to be very very happy when I start really losing weight but to be honest it’s more the actual working out that im starting to love. Every day I’m finding out I can run farther and faster then I ever thought I could or that I can hike for hours and afterwards feel fantastic! I still am lifting at the level that I was 3 years ago but I think I can make that go up too. I plan on mostly running and walking until I got some fat off before I start really focusing on mussel building. Don’t get me wrong I want to lose some pounds and aim to do it. But im finding some real peace in just using the body again like I did when I was in high school or even younger.

Im excited for Wednesday because I get to weigh my self since I’ve started working on eating right again and I can see benefits already and so can my friends.

You sound like you have got that motivation building up with that increased exercise etc - running, swimming, cycling, working out in the gym - they all get better and better.

Sleep deprivation - yeah, well there is a popular school of thought that more sleep aids weight loss, and I'm sure that better sleep is generally good for health. However, I work crazy shifts, and often suffer sleep deprivation - it hasn't had much of an affect on my weight loss.

Obesity can however affect sleep - it can stop you breathing correctly during sleep, something that keeps waking you. Keep it up, and who knows, that sleep problem migh t eventually go away.

thanks for your positive thinking,

PS: i also quit smokeing this month i was only at a half a pack a day but it im thinking that it's another one of the good things going on.

Thank you for quitting smoking! :)

I appreciate every person who makes that decision. Good luck with your weight loss efforts!!!

I lost 13 pound in one week good or bad?

I lost 13 pound in one week good or bad?

I know it’s an impressive number and im astounded but was it too much for my first week or good eating and exercise and lifting? Should I slow down or eat more, its just I never knew how far I can hike or how fast I can run and I don’t want to stop this sis the best ive ever felt in my life in more ways then just physically. I eat only veggies, fish, turkey, turkey sausage, sugar free popsicles hummus, diet soda, and carb light wraps to like put veggies and turkey in it and like a gallon and a half of water or club soda, but mostly fish.

I’ve always had a high heart rate too my top heart rate during working on an ellipse has gone down from 170 to 150 I look better I feel better what do I do now? Keep going at the same pace slow down speed up what? I like feeling like I worked out when I do. But its taking more and more and faster and faster running to get to the point where I can really “feel” it should I just keep pushing my self harder and harder?

I know I’ve herd that you should only lose 2 pounds a week but I don’t NEED to gain any weight back do i? Ive worked so hard im going to start making more comments in other folks Weight Loss Diaries but my little brother is in town for a week and im trying to spend as much time with him as I can.

Advice please.

The weight comes off fast at first then will normally slow to 1-2 pounds a week or so. You being so active it may even be more. Its all normal.

First of all you should give yourself a huge pat on the back. Wow 13lbs in a week. That is fantastic. I'm going to say that losing a lot in your first week of weight loss is pretty normal. The most I've ever lost in the first week was 8lbs. Mind you a lot of it is just water weigh. But I must say 13 lbs is excellent. I wouldn't worry to much about losing that much in the first week if you keep on losing that much each week I would then be concerned. It's just what your body wanted to shed. But as hillbillylee said the usual amount to lose is 1-2lbs per week. When you are a larger person you can lose a little more each week some can lose 2-4 lbs each week but I would try to stick to 1-2.

But I must say you must really have a system down. You are making good food choices and therefore totally reaped the benefits. Good for you!

good day.

Eating a little more now and still I feel like im losing weight fitting in to some pants I haven’t been in in a while. Took the day off from working out yesterday and today but I walked 2 or 3 miles yesterday and will most likely walk at least a mile today so I shouldn’t be all that bad. It’s a good day. Tomorrow will be a big time work out im looking forward to it.

Ape, you're doing great! 13# in a week! Holy smoke!! :D Great job! You've done beautifully on your food choices and exercise :D YOu deserve all the benefits that come with that :D

Hope you have a great night!

Well it’s the end of week two and I am down to 215 and I am feeling great I don’t remember the last time I was down to this weight I think it was over 2 or 3 years ago its like I just too off a giant snowsuit I look pretty decent now and im looking at the rest of the weight I have to lose as potential rather then a chore. I fell better and look better now and I have so much potential to be even better I’m having a bbq turkey wrap with roman and red onion tonight I can’t wait. 21 pounds in 2 weeks im so F-ing happy I can’t believe it o snack is worth how I feel right now. Any tips on keeping this off because I know if I just go back to bad eating and not exercising that I would gain it all back soooo fast.

You're doing great! To keep it off just keep up the great work , I'm sure you'll have no problem with it because you're doing great!

so i sliped for the past 3 days due to school tests and projects and had some wine at a party too i cheked my weight today before working out and i dident gain any or anything but it was harder working out today im back on plan and hope i can be down a little in for the next time i weigh my self i ran for 30 mins and walked for 2 hours and lifted a little today as well tomarow im going to push my self harder.

well im down another 5 pounds i lost count of days i think it’s been a little over a week this time but it’s still 5 more pounds off. im down to the last 10 pounds for my first goal. witch I thought id reach in 3 months but ive lost 26 pounds in a little over 3 weeks so maybe that first goal will come a bit sooner.

I picked up a 25 pound weight today at the gym and i got to tell you knowing that ive lost all that that i was holding in my hands was nice.

Isn't it great to be able to visualize what you've lost? The big task is to go to Walmart or some place and carry around a 25 pound bag of dog food - just walk around the store like you didn't think to bring a cart ;)

Ten minutes later, it will be mind boggling how much you've lost!!

Keep up the great work!

hello again i kinda sliped. ive been on a break from working out and havnet been watching what ive been eating i started back up about 5 days ago, i put on 7 pounds in the last over the past 3 weeks or so. but im back to 3 pounds over the best weight i last was. i have alot less time now to work out now but id like to get down another 23 pounds by 2007 i lost my first 25 pounds my first month of working out but ive been told again and again that the first pounds you lose are the easyest. any thoughts?

I'm back on track, 5 more pounds gone today! i feel soo much closer to my goal I'm almost there i can feel it cant wait until i can cross off 2 more pounds then that's a full 30 pounds gone then after another 6 and ill be 200lb then all that's left is being under 2000 for the first time in 5 years! I'm still trying to drop another 10 after then by new years this year i think I'm actually going to get to make a new years resolution of keeping my weight off rather then haveing to lose any
