Well, I'm a newbie and I don't know much about this site or anything but I'll just jump right into my story. I've always been big, for as long as I can remember. Even when I was about 5. As I grew up I kept getting bigger and bigger, but I never really payed attention to it because it never really bothered me that much until I went to high school. Well, high school came around and I am the most SELF CONSCIOUS person you will ever come across. I'm always hiding myself under hoodies or big jackets, so no one could see what was underneath (or so I thought). Now, I'm trying so hard to change because I want nothing more than too loose weight, look good, and be healthy. My starting weight is a very embarrassing 308. I work out about 4 times a week. I go to the the gym Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for about an hour and a half to about two hours and then on Saturday I go to a workout class with my mom. I'm trying very hard to change my eating habits, which I feel is the hardest part of a weight loss journey. Here's my before picture, I'm the one on the far right. Any suggestions, comments, encouragement or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for reading!

Hey, I just started her recently too!

I've been heavy as long as I can remember too. In highschool kids use to moo when I walked bye... people can be so mean. Why do people do things like that? Did it make me loose weight? No, it made me fell horrible about myself, and then I'd eat even more.

I'm hoping with support from this site, people going through the same thing... will help me stick with it this time. I've read that places like this double your chances of success...

Welcome! You can start by reading through the sticky posts at the start of the forums, it's a lot of great info and will save you time.

Nothing to be embarrassed about. You're taking steps to get healthy. Move ahead and don't look back.

Good luck!

I just wanted to say i actually looked at the pic before reading what your wrote and straight away my eyes were drawn to you not because of your weight but your face, you have such a pretty face :D

I wish you all the best in your weight loss journey, sounds like you have the working out bit going on already just try not to over do it and burn yourself out hun, i go to the gym 3-4 times a week and normally im done after an hour but i make sure i push myself the whole time im there. I also try going out on regular walks with my family and the dogs as extra exercise and for the 1st time today did a workout dvd at home (man i am sore haha). Other little things ive been doing is parking further away from the shops which means walking a little bit more and also taking the stairs instead of an elevator, hey every little bit counts right?? :p

I look forward to hearing about your progress, stay strong, YOU CAN DO THIS :D x

@Erin87 I'm sorry about that teasing that you had to go through :( that really is mean. I don't know why but I've never really had a problem with teasing in high school... I just have always been the big, funny girl that everyone loves? But when I do get mad over something I eat to get over it, so that's something we do have in common. Trying hard to overcome that too.

@Chrisj Thanks :)

@Janey Thank you for saying that :) It was actually really motivating. What kind of things do you do when you go to the gym? I'm not really sure what I'm doing is right for my body? & you're right... every little bit counts :)

First I can say that you're doing better than a lot of other people who are over weight. There are people out there that weigh in the 300-400's and they don't even try to lose weight. So congrats to you! Keep up all the good work you've been doing!
Second is that you can start to lose weight faster by changing the way you eat. If you cut out most if not all the junk food you may or may not have in your diet, than you will start to lose weight. Start eating things like almonds, apples, bananas, spinach, ground turkey and basically every fruit, veggie and low fat dairy products are great. Eat 5 to 6 small meals a day, and don't ever skip breakfast just because you're not hungry. Breakfast as cliche as it sounds, is the best meal of the day, if you eat a good breakfast (oatmeal, scrambled eggs, strawberries, whole grain bread with peanut butter or any type of cereal without any added sugar, kashi is a good choice. Drink LOTS of water, every single day even when you're not working out. If you're working out, you must drink plenty of water before, and during your workout. A gallon of water is about how much water you should drink a day. Yeah I agree, It gets really annoying to have to use the bathroom it seems every 5 minutes, but it flushes out all of the toxins in your body. Don't go crazy and drink a gallon of water all at once. Trust me, you will regret it ;)

I hope this little bit helps you, and I really do hope to hear your success story! Keep it up!
