Another struggler...

Hello mums!
I am just another mum amongst all of you who is also trying to lose the new belly. my 9 month old baby boy (born almost 10lbs) has caused me a weight gain of 20 lbs. The only problem is that not all of that weight went into my tummy. More than half of it went into my thighs and bum! Anyways, it's been a few days now since I have been exrcising (I have been skipping rope). I feel good that I'm trying to do something to lose the weight than just being depressed about it. My diet is not strict, but I eat healthy. I cook healthy meals everyday and barely ever eat out, but I give in to chocolaty cravings - but with limits of course :) ... Does anybody have any advice for a desperate mummy with 20 lbs to shed??

I have 2 kids so I know your pain and struggle. I don't have any really sound advice, but I do wish you the very best of luck in losing your extra unwanted pounds.

If you find the secret, let me know! :)

Wouldn’t it be great if we moms didn’t have weight to lose after giving birth? The birthing experience was hard enough.

To lose the weight, keep doing what you’re doing. Eat healthy and exercise. It’s working for me and for other moms I know. Try to lose 1-2 pounds a week. You can record your food and exercise on Fitday.com to see how many calories you’re consuming and burning. Fitday.com is free. Freedieting.com has a daily caloric intake calculator to help you figure out how many calories you need to lose weight. (You’ll want to go by the “fat loss” calories not the “extreme fat loss” calories.) The exercise part can be tricky with an infant, but it seems that you’ve found a way to get that into your day. Other exercises that I’ve seen moms do are going for walks with their children and taking mommy and baby exercise classes. There are post-pregnancy DVD workouts that you can buy or rent on Netflix. Squats and leg lifts can also help tone your thighs and bum.

What I’ve found helpful is to realize that my body took 40 weeks to create my 3-month-old son, so it’ll take some time to get my body back into shape.

Best wishes on losing your baby weight.

Amen!!!

I think that's some of the best advice I've heard. I takes 40 weeks to put on the weight from a baby. Why should losing it be any quicker or easier???

Would be nice if it was, but it's not. :( As if childbirth alone wasn't hard enough, right?

Well my advice is to exercise and eat healthy.

I had my baby 6months ago. I gained 80lbs with him [yes 80lbs!]. I did not start working out until 4.5months ago [I had a c-section]. I have been eating 6 healthy meals everyday. Exercising at least 45mins-1hr 4-5 days a week [Running and Turbo Jam] and I have lost 65lbs so far. I am 15lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight. Its very possible to lose the 20lbs in a good reasonable time. It doesn't always take the "9months it took to make the baby" to lose it....

My belly got HUGE when I was pregnant... Adding in the c-section didn't make it any better. I have progress pics of my "mid section". Titled "Post Baby Belly Pics", in the before, after and in between thread.

Hello

okay if you want that belly gone in the fastest way possible, then you need the right exercise. Im here to help you hunny so dont worry.

The best exercise is probably skipping rope, so im glad your already started that. How about 5 times a week for 20 minutes with intervals of high intensity and low intensity. Oh i almsot forgot, its tim to join a gym, because weight training can get you toned up in no time, so why not do 3 skipping rope sesisons and 2 weight sessions for lets say 30 minutes?

I know that this seems liek a fair bit, but really its not there is amosyt 200 hours in a whole week, and this polan is only 2 hours!

Haha im sure youll find time, couple this exercise plan with healthy food, and dont forget to eat as much as you want, if its healthy like vegetables then its only going to help you burn more fat!.

If you have any more questions dont feel scared to ask, im here to help hunny.

Thanks and good luck

I know what you're going through. I have 63 pounds to lose from 2 pregnancies that were fairly close together. It sounds like you are doing the right thing, exercise and proper diet. Keep up the good work and stay positive.
