another ab thread...sorry

ok, so I work my abs out pretty much everyday I work out, which ends up being 3-5 times per week...and my top two abs are well defined, the second pair a little less, the third a little less than that, and the 4th hardly at all, but I can feel them...
So is that how everyone gets them? from the top down like that? or am I abnormal? also, what exercises have you found to be more effective for hitting the bottom abs?

1, your abs will show thru diet, more than training.
2, Try and find exersises hard enough so that you can do no more than 15reps
3, try and find lots of diffrent ways of working your abs, obliques and back.
4, add weights to exercises.
5, Try and use 8diffrent core exercises.
6, remember that your core is made up of abs, obliques and lower back, work them all equally. (and remember that you can twist rather than going up and down)
7, its good to rest I work my abbs 1 day, obliques another and back another, then every month I change and do them on the same day.
8, dont train every day, 2-3 times a week is fine.

Any begineers needing help with 6pack or core workouts. I have typed up a handy guide in the Bodybuilding FAQ thread, its sticky at the top of the bodybuilding forum.

It was my understanding that most people have a greater amount of fat near the lower abdomen, hence the difficulty in bringing out the "bottom abs".

Manokent hit it on the head... and so did ballast, and that's where you really have to watch your diet and eat 'clean' to get that little bit of fat off your abdominals...

so when youre doing ab exercise should you do about 20 reps of something until you can't do anymore, rest flat on your back for 2-5 minutes, and then do reps of something else?

Your abdominals are just like any other muscle in the body, so treat them no differently than your arms and legs... so do like 2-3 sets of 15-20 reps of an abdominal exercise, make sure there's an external load if you can handle it, if not, then just body weight...

thats pretty much what I do...I think it's just the diet and burning off the fat down there that I have to do...yippee

Right now I'm in a 'basic strength' phase, so I'm currently doing weighted stability ball crunches, 2-3 sets of 10-12 reps with 45-60 second rest between sets... but the less the weight, the less the rest... the more the weight, the more the rest... all relative to your sets/reps...

Adamu1, basically to get the abs to show, 80% of your success depends on your 'diet'... other 20% is cardio and resistance training...
