Anatomical Movement

Hi all,

I need to list the anatomical movements involved in basic exercises such as Squat, Shoulder press and bench press, lat pull down, shoulders shrug

can anybody help?

this is what I ame up for Bench Press:

Elbow abduction/extension
Shoulder Horizontal flexion
Elbow Adduction/flexion
Shoulder horizontal extension

Shoulder Press:

Shoulder abduction
Shoulder adduction
elbow abduction / extension
Shoulder abduction
Shoulder adduction
elbow adduction / flexion

Lat Pull Down:

Shoulder abduction
elbow adduction / flexion
Shoulder adduction
Shoulder abduction
elbow abduction / extension
Shoulder adduction

Would anyone confirm me is this is right?
Also I'm goin to try to do the Squat and shoulder shrug now..

thanks
:)

Bench press:
Shoulder horizontal adduction
Elbow extension

Shoulder press:
Shoulder abduction
Elbow extension

Lat pulldown:
Shoulder adduction
Elbow flexion

You need to list the joint actions involved in the movement...be careful about listing the antagonist movement, unless you are specifically asked. For example, in the concentric phase of the bench press, horizontal adduction of the shoulder and elbow extension are the primary joint actions. The opposite joint action is involved when bringing the bar back down, but no effort is being made to perform these joint actions. We generally state the joint actions that are involved in the effort. These joint actions involved specific muscles, and these muscle are sollicited eccentrically in the "downphase" or return to the starting position. I hope I'm not confusing you. If you are specifically being asked all of them, then by all means, do so.

Squat...

Hip extension
Knee extension

I believe the correct term for shoulder shrugs would be scapular elevation....

Do you have to write down what happens at the scapular level too? because for bench press it be scapular retraction also.

Alright... I can see where you're coming from...

Shoulder retraction is this...

You experience it in exercises like bench press, seated rows, and lateral pulldowns WHEN you bring the bar behind your head (which is not a safe exercise)....

If you do lateral pulldowns the safe way by bringing the bar down in front of you, you are doing scapular downward/upward rotation. This is for the most part this is a single plane exercise (frontal plane)...

I see your point...
Yes, it is the behind-the-neck pulldowns that would engage the rhomboids and therefore scapular retraction.
