amenorrhea - ok to exercise?

so i'm on recovery from anorexia nervosa but my period still havent come (it had stopped for months). i eat normally now (=what i called binge when i was anorretic lol) well i guess my body takes time to repair things and get period.

thing is i started to weight train, so is it ok to keep training? i usually do 35-60 mins cardio, 1 1/2 hr weights, plus some core, like 5-6 times a week, eating 1000-1600 cal a day.

You really need to let your body recover. Are you seeing someone right now for the emotional aspect of your problem?

You would probably burn most of those calories during the day, so once you start eating more food and gaining extra weight, it would probably be safe to exercise. Also is that a picture of you?:D

Agreed... you need to add more calories and definitely begin carb loading.

i've gained 2-3 pounds since i started training, its all muscle mass + extra glycogen storage + a bit of fat i guess... i had ed for 7 years, 4 shrinks, none helped so i guess i need to work it out on my own, esp on the whacked-up metabolism.

i had been a distance runner on 800-cal/day-diet for quite a while. so u see its my small figure (5'1", 91 lbs) and my slowed metabolism that allow me to train so hard whilst eating so little -> measured my bmr it was only 1086! and plus the exrecise, prolly it'll be like, 1600? so i guess i've eaten accordingly.

do u think its ok?

Ok, so you're rather petite...and that will affect your caloric needs. but I'd stick to at least 1,600 cals a day, and if you're exercising, probably 1,800.

your weight training need not exceed 60 minutes a session, 3 times per week max. focus on training the WHOLE body, mostly with compound exercises.

this is of course assuming a family doctor has cleared you for this sort of thing.

What you need to keep clear in your head is what you're doing...trying to be healthy. Don't let exercising for hours on end replace anorexia as your means to stay 'slim'.

I would say more calories a day( just to maintain your body weight), according to this calculator:
