Hi guys, how's everyone doing?. I just started Cohen's today. I received my goal weight today which is supposed to be between 55 -57kgs. You could imagine my surprise considering I am 133kgs. I can't even remember the last time I weighed that, i've always been between 69-71 before I had my children. So to imagine myself getting down to that would be INCREDIBLE. There are a few reasons why I joined the program. I want to be healthy and enjoy life with my children. I am starting to get sore ankles and kness from carrying all the excess weight. And I am taking my children on a holiday to Hawai'i in December. I want to do a helicopter ride to see the volcanoes, but you need to be under 100kgs, so I need to work hard, and discipline myself. I find my biggest challenge is drinking the 3lts of water daily as I am not a huge water fan. Anyway enough about me for today. One day down approx 185 to go.

:patriot: Hawai'i here I come.........

Welcome Ajay

What a motivating goal to work towards "Hawaii" Ajay Cohens is a wonderful program you will find it intially difficult but once you get into the swing of things you wil find it very manageable especially when you see the weight come flying off. Structure and preparation is the key to not straying from the diet. With the water intake I kept a measuring jug and weighed out my 3litres over the course of the day and drank it slowly this is more benficial to your body then gulping it down. Maybe you could start with 2 litres then increase it.
Good luck on your loss so far...there will more in the next few weeks thats for sure.

Hi Ajay and welcome to the forum. You won't regret starting Cohens and you should certainly be well and truely under 100kg by the time you go to Hawaii. I completed Cohens back in 2005. I started on July 1 2005 weighing 112kgs and by November I weighed 75kgs and was a size 12!! Due to heaps of issues in my lfe I have let myself slip back into old habits and regained my weight but I am motivated and focused to go again. In 2 weeks back on the program I am already down 6kgs.
You'll find that you are flying down through the sizes in clothes and I found that with some clothes in my wardrobe I would try them on and they would be too small and then about 2 or 3 weeks later I would try them on again and they would be too big!!
Its such a great program and the results are so fast it is incredibly encouraging. Cohens also raises your serotonin levels so you get this feeling of amazing well being like you really can achieve anything!!
Sorry I'm really rattling on tonight. Good luck and I look forward to seeing you around.
Take care
Beck

Thank you both for your kind words. I've read several times now how people put the weight back on. Is this normal, or do you just stay on the program forever. It doesn't bother me the program. I mean we make the food ourselves so it is up to us to make is as delicious as we want using our allowances.

I was telling my sister how I love food, it's so delicious you could serve it in a restaurant but just in a larger portion. She tried it and agreed. She just recently had lapband surgery, and it was lucky she had privated health insurance because it only cost her $800 for the surgery and then she pays extra for the anethestis and the extra visits to fill the band. She was a little dissapointed that I never found this program earlier.

Oh and i forgot to mention my good news. I have been on the program for two full days now and I have lost 4kgs. I am not going to change my ticker yet though until the end of the month. I am hoping this is real and that my scales aren't broken.

I'm so glad this forum is here, hopefully it will keep me honest LOL. I've had a couple of mild headaches in the afternoon but nothing major.

My consultant said I would be down to the mid 70's by November. It's been over 12 years since I've been under 100kgs, so this is very exciting for me. Once again ladies, thank you for your support.

Here goes day 3, I have my omelette waiting for me and my sliced apple. So until next time take care girls and good luck.

4kgs :jump:

Clothes Shopping

RJM I went shopping last night and I am usually a size 24 to 26. My sister had given me a gift card. So I went and looked at a size 18 outfit from
16-26, when I saw how small it looked I thought hmmmmm, no it would be a waste of money buying that because I will never fit into it. So I put it back and stuck with my size 26.

I can't wait to start dropping clothes size. The only dress I've worn since I was in high school has been my wedding dress. I would love to be able to wear a dress again and look feminine.

My mother would get a shock to see me in a dress, as I live in shorts and 3/4 pants all usually denim, as for the tops, they are usually just t-shirts.

So that is another reason for me being here. I want to be able to shop in places like Katies, and Portmans and Rockmans (in the front instead of at the back @ BeMe).

Anyways finger crossed.

Water Bottle

NANS it's funny how you mention water. You see I was a Coke addict (the beverage kind). I've been drinking Coke forever, my parents always had it in the house, because my Dad is also addicted to Coke, so I thought that would be hardest challenge. I work in DEET and everyone has their little 600ml water bottles on their desks. On my first day I went to get some water and I thought if I got the 600ml I would be up and down all day trying to fill it. So I just ended up getting the 1.5lt bottle and it is so much easier. I get some weird looks, cause all the slim ones have their 600ml bottles and me the PHAT one has this 1.5 lt bottle. LOL

Also anyone reading this I was just wondering does the visit to the ladies room ever get less frequent, because I was thinking yesterday I spent more time there then at my desk. As soon as I drink I need to go. Does this slow down, or do I need to invest in some nappies  :rotflmao:

4kgs-
WOW!

Welcome to the Cohen's party Amanda. It will be for real!
I think if you complete Cohen's 100%, do re-feed & then follow the maintenance guidelines the weight will stay off. It was only when I slipped back into old habits that I started to put weight back on. I lost 36kgs on Cohens & finished in August 2007. I kept within the 3kgs range until March when I got really stressed with my job & resorted to stress-eating9read binge-eating!) & the guidelines went out the window.
It's all a learning process.
I feel I have gained a lot of knowledge about myself & I guess I will always be learning.
Follow the Cohen's advice & you will be right.
You have made an excellent decision & you will love your new, slim body. Try not to stress about the scales, (ie weigh too often) as you may set yourself up for failure. Weight goes up & down so you have to be prepared to see an up some days without despairing. Stick to it 100% & the fat will melt before your eyes. Measure yourself every week & watch youself shrink. It's so thrilling. Sometimes I lost weight, sometimes cm's only, cheers, Cate

Welcome

Welcome to Cohens Ajay.

I have only been on Cohens for two weeks tomorrow so I am relatively new also. I lost 5.5kgs in my first week and 17cm!!! This is a truely amazing eating plan. My toilet visitations have eased so your body does adjust. As I would prob only drink 6 cups of coffee and a couple of diet cokes before Cohens, zero water, that was quite a shock for me also.

The first week I experienced headaches and cravings but now I feel great! I am getting a little obsessive though, I think that comes with the weighing of all the food. I am also sleeping heaps better and waking up feeling like I have had a sleep.

Anyway, CONGRATULATIONS for losing the first 4kg, your journey has began. It is faster than lap surgery this diet, so stick with it!

Trudy

Thank you Trudy and Cate. I did read somewhere where you have to limit your weigh in to once a month, I just had to check to see if it was working, and it is, so now I have put the scales in my closet and will bring it out at the end of the month. Although I will jump on them on Thursday when I go for my week visit.

As for the sleep, I totally agree. I haven't been on it long and I feel the past few days have been the best sleep days i've had for a while. I find myself jumping out of bed now, not sure if that's my energy levels increasing or the fact that I am so excited to be on the program.

I try to eat before 7, as I take lunch at work at 12 (5hrs) then I can eat at 6 at night cause our bedtime is 7.30pm, and I have found the toilet visits slowing down a little, not much but a little.

I am excited about this program. My brother just came for a visit and he asked what the lovely smell was coming from my kitchen. It was my beef curry (with all my meat and vegie allowance)..LOL... He couldn't believe it. He said diet food was boring and bland. I told him it wasn't a diet, it was just eating healthy, same food smaller portions.

I do have one questions for anyone who knows the answer. Is coke zero allowed, because sprite zero and fanta zero are. I know caffiene free coke is but is coke zero. I don't want to drink it I would just like to know. Thanks.

Take care all, and Good Luck to everyone.

Coke zero

Hi Ajay,

I am not 100% positive but I do not believe that coke zero is allowed. It would contain caffeine so that is the reason for my thinking. One of the other more experience Cohenites would know for sure. Have a lovely day.

Trudy

Ajay, I don't have a Coke Zero can in front of me but just tried doing a search. If it has caffeine in it, which I'm fairly sure it does it's a no no. If you do a search yourself & read some of the stuff written about it I think, for your health's sake you would(should) give it up altogether. I'm certainly going to! Scary stuff. I didn't know if I should post a link or not. I would hate to have the might of that company down on my head. You will develop a taste for plain water. I now couldn't get through a day without drinking about 3 litres of the stuff. I'm lucky to have my own fresh rain-water. It's actually all we have. Cheers, Cate

I asked because pepsi lite has caffeine in it yet we are allowed that. I haven't had any coke since Wednesday, and I don't want to go back to coke ever...if i can help it...even after the program....but i was just curious they both had caffeine in it.... as for the rainwater tank...that sounds lovely..i know when i go home to my parents they have rain water and it just tastes so much sweeter, cause it's fresh clean and pure....hmmmm i think i will go and have some water now....take care all....

Hi Ajay

Welcome to the forum.

You and I sound very simillar. I too was about 133 kilo's. About two years ago I got motivated to lose weight. I went all healthy eating and visited the gym 6 out of 7 days and managed to get down to 120 kilos. But the presure of going to the gym and the cost eventually got to me and I gave up. I watched what I ate and walked three times a week but the weight crept back up to 125.8 kilos. Its like I didn't know what my body needed to keep losing weight.

Back in April I went to a seminar and its changed my life. I started 5 weeks ago and have lost 9.4 kilo. In the second week of my diet I went away and didnt tell anyone that I was on Cohens and tried to eat as healthy as I could but in 5 days I put on 1.9kilo. I was in tears when I weighed myself. But got back on the diet and it fell of in a couple of days. Since then I have not strayed at all. I am too scared.

I have two sisters and one has had gastric bypass surgery. She was alot heavier than me and doesn't have the disipline that I have and its working well for her. But I am sure glad not to have to go through that. My youngest sister has also joined Cohens and its great to have someone to talk it over with and be excited about.

I am addicted to weighing myself. I cant help it. Watching those numbers drop it so inspiring. Makes the days seem worth it.

Anyway, enough about me. Back to work. Until next time, keep up the great work!!

Vicky

My first week wasn't too bad....I lost 6kgs and 20cm, so i guess from here on out the loss will be a little less..... but i am sure the cms will be greater as i have noticed my thighs going down.....and my shorts becoming longer because of this.....i will let you know how i go this week ....thanks again all for your encouragement and kind words....

Hi Amanda

I've been reading your diary in the other forum you are doing really well. Thanks for hanging around here and letting us know how you are getting on. I was watching a show called the "View" On Foxtel which is hosted by Whoopi Goldberg and she is doing this weighloss thing on the show and this month she didn't lose any weight but lost alot of centermitres so it always pays to remember this.
Keep up the great work and take care now.
Sam:)
