hello,

i am only skinny and recently turned 19. i started to workout to gain muscle and have done but my waist is the same size as my chest when i look in the mirror. i split my days up during the week so i do one day of weights and one day of cardio, stomach and legs. here's what i do!

lat pull down x 3
machine bench press x 3
incline dumbell flyes x 3
butterfly x 3
biep curls x 3 and should shrugs x 3

am i doing the most effective way of achieving a good v shape? any help would be great cheers

if any one would like some pics to decide for themselves please give me a shout

You also need a more full body routine. You're barely working anything other than your chest. Cardio and legs are not correlated, legs need weight training as well. Look around for advice and tips on a new routine, also check out the site listed here.

HELP

+1 to all three replies. no machines, more compound moves, and don't forget abs. a tight core helps a lot, as do wide shoulders from military press.

Surprised no one mentioned it, but make sure your diet is in line. That's more important than any exercises you're doing to achieve that "V-shape." Since you said you're skinny, I'm going to guess you have a higher metabolism so you really need to eat a ton.
