hey nahaschild,
first and foremost i totally agree with you, that neel character is spewing alot of spam all over the place with some 'miracle' weight loss plan. i myself learned long ago there is no such thing.
anyway, getting back to business, i just wanted to welcome you to the forum...everyone on here is very encouraging (except the spammers lol!). i just wanted to let you know that you are not alone in this, and just joining this forum is a big step because it shows you really want to make a change. i'm 5feet and now at 340pounds, i've lost about 10pounds ever since i bought myself a weighing scale about 2 weeks ago and i'm almost certain i was in the range of about 370pounds when i started my weight loss programme 3 months ago. I started by eating healthy first and i'm now on week 7 of exercise.
as i tell everyone, it won't be easy but whats important is if you fall, try again and again untill you've gotten to a weight your finally happy with. I'm only at the beginning of my journey and have given myself between one and a half to two years to go down to a healthy weight. but since it's taken me 28yrs to put on all this weight, then sacrificing just one or two years to gain my life back is much more important.
i think your idea of starting with a bike sounds good because if i read correct you mentioned you have pain from walking. as much as i may want to cycle i can't because it hurts my butt to fit on the tiny seat, but i've read numerous places that there are now wide-seats available for bikes so it shouldn't be a hinderance. Another good activity would be swimming since it's got no impact on the knees...but of course it means you'd have to have access to a private pool. For me i find it really sad because i think the only sport i've ever really enjoyed was swimming, but that's when i was young....i soon got too self-concious and haven't stepped in a pool for like 6yrs....because i'm terrified of being seen in public in a costume and don't have access to a private pool.
But i guess what i'm saying is, if you don't feel comfortable doing one form of exercise, find something else that works for you. There's lots of useful info available on the forum and many encouraging people so your definitely in the right place.
for me, since i still have such a long way to go, it'll take a while before i start noticing major changes....but the thing is this, i take notice of the little changes that mean the world to me. For example just 3 months ago before i started health eating/exercising, i'd get some really bad headaches that would last 2-3days every single week, i used to live on pain killers. I hadn't been to see a doctor in years because i was too scared of what i'd be told, but a few years back my blood pressure was measured and it was on the high side, and i'm pretty sure those headaches were related to it, coupled with being extremely tired all day (so i'd sleep ALOT), and i'd also have swollen ankles, other things were like i'd break out into a sweat and huff and puff when i'd climb like 5 stairs or walk for even like 2 minutes. But all of these things have gone completely! I keep saying it's my little miracle....the things that i know and notice that no one else would. And after some time passes i'll then start to notice bigger changes. These are the things that keep me going on everyday. Sure there'll be good days and there'll be bad days. But when you have bad days, pick yourself up and try again and again!
i'm so sorry to have rambled on and on....i guess i just wanted to let you know that you're not alone in this and also to say welcome to the forum and want to wish you all the best with your weight loss journey xoxo
Thanks but quit replying to my threads, please. I don't want or need your input. I tried being nice. You have nothing to offer me. Have a nice day.
