Alligatorob's Diary

Yes what great progress! I really do think the biggest benefits are those of getting out and enjoying things like cycling etc. That's exciting to be able to look forward to the spring to have better weather to take your bike out on some nice rides!
I have no doubt at all that you wil do fine with the family gatherings and sticking to your plan of better eating. You have so much strength in you!

I'm confused, you find it difficult to eat get over 1000 cal?

It was a good day, a long and busy one. I ate well, feel good, and got in a good bike ride. Spent the evening playing charades with the grandkids, great fun.

Thanks LaMa and Cate, no one is more amazed at my progress than I am, I'd have never thought it possible.

Thanks Liza, I will try.

No more confusing than I find it. After almost 9 months of struggling to keep my calories low for the first time in my life I don't want to eat. A very strange thing for me. It may sound good, but I'm not sure it is, but I am sure it won't last.

Too late and tired for history, I did try but couldn't find much of interest for 1001. Back to it tomorrow.

All I could find was it's the first year of the 11th century and the second millennium .
Rob fantastic bike ride you are a different man

Whoa, are you okay?

Posting early today, headed to the airport soon. I ate fine for breakfast and lunch, and don't think I will have a problem with dinner. If I can I will catch up on calories tomorrow.

This will be a challenge, I spoke to a cousin in Florida and an aunt in Louisiana today. I had to move things around so I asked my Florida cousin if it was ok for me to stop there Wednesday rather than Tuesday, she said it was fine and that it would give her and her daughter another day to cook. My Louisiana aunt is a 96 year old pure Cajun and still as lively as some women half her age. She told me that she was going to cook a "surprise" and a rougarou king cake for me. That's a new one on me, the king cake is a traditional Louisiana thing for Mardi Gras, but adding the rougarou is going to be an interesting twist. A rougarou is the Cajun version of bigfoot, but more dangerous. The rougarou lives in the swamp eating children and the like. I guess I am going to have to be good at acting very grateful and then just taking a few bites. Moving food around on the plate is always a good tactic.

Whoa, are you okay?
Absolutely, never better. Didn't mean to post anything that would suggest the contrary. Thanks for asking!

Enjoy your trip, Rob. Try not to stress about what is obviously about to happen. Eating some of your relies' food sounds inescapable.

Rob, I believe in you and the changes you have made so far. I know you can remain moderate when visiting old friends with the temptation to return to old patterns of behavior.

I hope you can find a nice way to enjoy the food and love about to come your way and also not feel like you have to stray too uncomfortably far off your plan. It could be a good exercise to see how you can stray a bit and then get back to things once back home.
Anyways I hope you enjoy yourself!

Enjoy your time, enjoy seeing that 96-y/o aunt, and enjoy the stuff they cook up - even if it is in small quantities.

I agree Rob you will be fine and it's time now to flex a bit and see what you can manage in company. Remember load up on salad and fruit before you add anything to your plate. It will look like you are eating lots .
It's lovely your folks are so excited to see you . Have a fab time

Just catching up Rob. It’s so great to see you’re still doing so well.
Gotta day I agree with everything said above; you’ve got this. That food sounds interesting but I’m sure you’ll manage just perfectly fine.

have your rellies seen you since your “transformation”?

Just a quick check in, arrived in Miami and am enjoying the weather, much warmer than Utah!

Yesterday turned out fine, around 1,000 calories. Today we'll see. I am thinking about doing a kind of modified OMAD thing here, only eating when someone puts a big meal in front of me. I'll still have to show restraint, but could maybe eat more of it. We'll see, meeting friends for dinner tonight.

That sounds a bit like my plan Rob . If you know you are facing a big meal we are encouraged to eat free food ( veg fruits etc to fill up at other meals ) I think it’s a good idea but don’t go out starving !

Today was a good day, I got lots of good support and advice from my friends here, thank you. I also was able to get in a bike ride, the hotel rented bikes so I got one and rode up and down Miami Beach (South Beach) for an hour or so. Then I met friends for a beach walk and dinner. Had a great time.

I had planned to go swimming in the Atlantic but that seemed too complicated and I ran out of time, so the beach bike was it for exercise.

I stuck to the OMAD plan, dinner only, I ate a big salad with no dressing, and drank a couple of big Mojitos. The Mojitos were made without sugar, but with plenty of rum. Had a couple of sugar cane stalks to chew on and 5 plantain chips. No calorie count, but I think I did fine.

Tomorrow off to see an old friend a couple of hours away in a more rural and quiet part of Florida. Probably less drinking, but more expectation of big eating. One challenge at a time.IMG_0022 (002).JPG
