Alligatorob's Diary

That's pretty incredible. I have (tiny, frail, lady) clients who weigh no more than 40 kg!

Just did my 40 laps, it snowed a little, just enough to cover the gravel, but not a lot. The only hard thing was a few places where there was still ice from the last storm, but I got it. I can see now that I may have been a little too conservative in avoiding snow, hopefully I can get out more often. It is supposed to snow more this afternoon and tomorrow, so we will see what that brings. Will try to follow LaMa's advice on the indoor bike, gradually working into it, won't do any today, but will try a little tomorrow.

Thanks LaMa and Rob, it feels good. I am not sure I can find a before photo, spent most of my life avoiding cameras. Taking these pictures show me that I need a haircut!

It's good that snow won't be such a deterrent to your riding, Rob. Great photo :) I hardly have any of me when I was really big as I used to hide all the time too. Congrats on fitting into the size 40s. We'll be congratulating you on fitting into the 30s before too long.

It was a good day, ate well, exercised, and I feel good.
growing pants
I like that LaMa, and yes my pants do seem to be growing.

To be honest the Levis are too tight for comfort, but I got them on. Someday I would like to get down to a 34, I think that's about as small as I get. It will be a while, but if I can keep this up its where I am headed.
looks like a very beautiful area
It is nice, I like the mountains being so close, could do with a little less cold and snow though.
Sounds like you won't be in the 230s club for much longer!
Thanks M, I hope not.

It was in 1040 that Weihenstephan Abbey licensed it's brewery and its been open to the public ever since. Which makes it according so some anyway the worlds oldest continuously operated brewery in the world. There is evidence the abbey was brewing beer as early as 768, but maybe not continuously. None the less a significant step forward in the history of Western Civilization!

You will I'm sure :)

Does anyone eat kefir? I read something about it, and it sounded like a good idea. Got some starter and am trying to make it now. It seems hard to find in stores around here.

Coming in late (how did I miss the photo when you put it up?) to say great about fitting into the jeans - and they even look a bit loose around the legs!
Great photo of tyre tracks in the snow, too! :)

Rob I have kefir in my fridge . My daughter is into all that kind of stuff . Tbh I can’t bear the smell of it . It’s in a glass jar with a glass bowl over it . It can’t be airtight as it may explode . It’s meant to be great for the gut .
Well done on the 2 lb loss and the jeans . You will fit in them properly very soon .

I just did a partial workout, 20 laps on the bike and 6 minutes on the stationary. We got a little more snow and it was pretty windy, 20 outside laps were enough. Then I did 6 min on the stationary bike, half the time I did last and felt a little chaffing, I think I will be fine. Winter exercise may be in fits and starts, but I will get some! I think keeping after it is better than not, and when spring comes I should be ready for some more realistic rides.

I had the first of my homemade kefir for lunch, it wasn't bad, not really a lot of taste. It does not smell bad, Petal maybe I am doing it wrong? I will keep the exploding thing in mind.
Never had kefir but Weihenstephaner's good stuff
Probably better than my kefir!

Looks can be deceptive... I plan to be making a lot more tyre tracks in the snow. Note I used your spelling, I like it.

I use my workout cool down period to post, seems to be working out ok.

You all sound so daring with potentially exploding home-made kefir. lurking in your fridges! Acts of Daring, Acts of Dairy... I make yoghurt, and I've made cheese in my time, but that didn't ever threaten to explode. :D

Canny time-management, Rob!

Me too on being camera shy when I was overweight. Wow, I would avoid so many situations and people and was anxious when everyone started using their phone cameras when they first became widely available.

I've had kefir, Rob. I think I mentioned on my diary. I just recently got some again because it's a really great probiotic. I remember now though why I stopped getting it before - it causes a lot of gas and bloating for me. It's supposed to have a somewhat sour flavor and a lot of people like that. It's a little thicker than milk too. Like a smoothie almost.

It was a good day, I ate well, exercised a bit, and feel good.

Back in the day home bakers used brewers' yeast if they wanted something other than sourdough: the scum scooped off the surface of the beer-to-be.
That is interesting, I don't have access to much beer-to-be, but I have been thinking about trying to brew some. Over the years I have made wine a number of times, include the peach this year, but have not yet tried beer. Even if the beer scum doesn't make good kefir, the beer should be good.
I make yoghurt, and I've made cheese in my time, but that didn't ever threaten to explode.
Are dangerous foods a food group of their own? May have to have the bomb squad over to inspect the fridge.

I saw that Rob, when I searched kefir on the forum you came up a lot. Thanks for the heads up on the possible gas and bloating thing, my veggies seem to do enough of that for me, don't need more.

1082 on the Islamic calendar is about 1671 on our Gregorian calendar, and it was in 1671 that Rob Roy MacGregor was born. It happens I am a direct descendant of Rob Roy, he is my 10th (or so) great grandfather. The real Rob Roy probably had little in common with Liam Neeson or the movie, and was more likely a bandit than a hero, but it is kind of fun to have a famous ancestor, I don't have many. Not that I know of anyway.

Never had kefir but Sturm can´t be kept in a closed bottle for fear of explosions either :p
