Alligatorob's Diary

Today was a good day, I ate well and feel good. May have drunk a bit more wine than I should have, but somehow drinking our homemade peach wine seems different. I guess it probably isn't.

LaMa, you are right there are a lot of very impressive Buddhas by Kaikei and others of his era, with Googling.

Thanks Flyer, I have used some of the asteroids they are interesting, I like the "small body" thing.

Jack you taught me something, I know very little about Buddhism. I think it is interesting, but have to be honest a lot of its lost on me.

My husband wears long legging type things under his jeans
Thanks Petal, when you said that I thought about and realized part of my discomfort was probably size, I was trying to wear my old 4 and 5XL long johns. So I got some new ones, size 1XL. They fit better and seem to be what I need to stay warm.

Decided to give Pedal's idea a go and so I looked the year 3132 up in Google, all they have is a page on the 4th millennium, but there are a few interesting things that are supposed to happen within a few hundred years of 3132:
  • 3000: Sea level predicted to rise by between 1.1 and 6.8 meters (4 and 22 ft). More than one of my former houses in Florida will be underwater, not that the termites and hurricanes will let them survive that long.
  • 3015: A camera placed by Jonathon Keats will finish its exposure time after its placement at the ASU Art Museum in Tempe, Arizona, in 2015.
  • 3117: Minimum time by which, according to physicist Andrew Kennedy, humanity can expect to have reached Barnard's Star, assuming an annual economic growth rate (and corresponding increase in power output) of 1.4%. I'm skeptical.
  • 3183: The time pyramid, a public art work at Wemding, Germany, is scheduled for completion.
  • The film Planet of the Apes is set in the year 3978.

Kind of fun, but I can't do this very often.

No Rob its way too much hard work but that fun to read . Sounds like you had a great diet day . You ate well and filling foods.

Haha, I totally understand what you mean about the homemade wine! It’s like eating homemade cake or bread - not half as bad for you! :D

There’s nothing from the year 3000 on that I really feel like I’m missing out on.

It was a good day, I ate well and feel good. Mostly spent getting things ready for X-mas, chores around the house. I sure am able to do a lot more just working on things than I could have last year. And my collection of Christmas Hawaiian shirts fit now, some are too big. Problem is my missing fat layer makes it harder to wear a Hawaiian shirt without freezing. One thing I have been noticing are my ribs, rib cage really, and hip bones. No longer covered in fat they feel kind of funny to me. A good feeling.

That's right Emily, homemade should only count for half the calories!

1142 was the year of the siege of Oxford during a period of instability following the death of King Henry I. His nephew Stephen of Blois (siegee) fought his daughter Empress Matilda aka Maud (the besieged). Stephen won, but not until after Matilda escaped. Matilda lead an eventful life, King Henry I's daughter she moved to Germany as a child bride to the future Holy Roman Emperor Henry V, and became his Empress. He died without children and when she died her dad, King Henry I moved her to Normandy to marry Geoffrey of Anjou. Matilda was Henry's only legitimate child so he named her his successor. When Henry died Matilda returned to claim her throne, but cousin Stephen had other ideas, hence the siege. Matilda was never crowned Queen of England and eventually returned to her husband Geoffrey in Normandy. However she left her eldest son (by Geoffrey) in England and he eventually became King Henry II, Matilda became an adviser to Henry II.

Rob I relate to that feeling of feeling my bones . I lie on my side and sometimes my elbow rests on my hip bone . It's great.
You food looks really good again .

The lives of the royals were certainly very colourful.

Today I ate well and did fine. Have to be honest though I am a bit down, not unusual for me around the holidays, but it doesn't last, tomorrow is another day.
I lie on my side and sometimes my elbow rests on my hip bone
Interesting, I also notice my hip bone and ribs more when lying down, however our proportions are different, my elbow would never reach the hip. I am kind of long bodied and short limbed.
I'm not a fan of boniness
No risk of that here, my bones still have plenty of padding.

Thanks for the kind words Amy.

1017 was the year of the founding of the Druze religion. I am not sure I knew what a Druze was before the recent news of their mistreatment by ISIS and Al-Qaeda. Druze is one of the religions of the Middle East, with about 1,000,000 members scattered mostly in Syria, Lebanon, and Israel. Some consider it a branch of Islam, but most don't. Druze is a monotheistic religion with influences from Islam, Gnosticism, and Greek philosophers including Plato, Aristotle, and Pythagoras. Amongst other things Druze believe in reincarnation.

Xmas can be overwhelming. I know I miss my family at this time of year, especially my brother & sister. I hope you have a lovely day, Rob xo

Had an orange last night after posting, so calories were a bit higher. I stayed up later than usual and felt hungry.

Thanks for the support y'all, I often feel a little blue at Christmas, some of what Cate says missing family now gone, too much thinking about what might have been, and probably something to LaMa's point about the lack of light. I recognize the feeling and know it will pass, I'll be fine.

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to all!

A good Christmas eve, had the big family dinner tonight and I did fine, a few more calories than usual, but not many. Most of the excess calories went to turducken. For anyone who doesn't know turducken is a boned chicken stuffed into a boned duck, stuffed into a boned turkey. The turkey legs and wings are left on so the end product looks kind of like a frankenturkey, easier to carve than a traditional turkey. Turducken is a kind of Louisiana thing, we don't make, just buy it already prepared.

The wife took most of the crowd to midnight church services, leaving me home with time to post, so here I am. The grandkids are staying over so when she gets home we'll have to try and get them to sleep so we can play Santa.

Tuesday, X-mas eve

No time for history tonight.

Turducken sounds like the epitome of consumerism but the rest of your Christmas eve seems fun. Enjoy the kids' reactions!

Christmas morning and I was pleasantly surprised to be down 2 more pounds to 235. A nice present! Past the 6 stone mark now.

It took until almost 3 am to get finished with the Santa things, and I have to confess I had a whiskey not counted on, yesterday's calories, in the process. That probably made the night later. Now up at 7:30 am to beat the kids. They leave in the early afternoon, I will be ready for a Christmas nap.

Merry Christmas to all!

Congratulations on breaking the 6 stone barrier!
