About to give up

I need to lose 20kg i have tried everything, for the last 2 months i have been eating less i have changed my diet to only good foods, yogarts, fruit, vegies and mostly chicken and fish, i eat no sweets, no pop and i weighed myself this week and not only have i not lost weight but i picked up 8lbs.. im about to give up cause nothing seems to help.

If anyone has an idea of what can help me please let me know
thank you :(

First off, dont give up! You can do this. You just have to have basic knowledge of how this whole "weight loss" thing works.

Weight loss itself is simple, burn more calories a day then you take in. Its that simple.
If you want, I can help you. I first need your weight, height, and age. If you feel uncomfortable posting them here, send me a private message and we'll get you started.

I was very healthy before an accident I had made me unable to exercise and lazy. Im now getting back into the swing of it.

Don't quit whatever you do. It can be done, you just need the knowledge to do it.

Louise, DO NOT GIVE UP!!!!! Its sometimes a guessing game of what works for you.

Make sure you are eating enough throughout the day, 5-6 times with equal amounts of protein and carbs (good ones). I usually have a string cheese (mozzarella - low fat) and a few wheat crackers or apple with natural peanut butter, etc.

I feel exactly like you do some days, but I have to remind myself that I wasn't always this weight and it CAN come off! We did not put it on overnight nor can we expect it to just melt off our bodies any quicker.

Are you working out? You didn't mention - if your metabolism is anything like mine - I have to make sure I get some sort of cardio in at least 4-5 time a week (to lose weight)! I am sure I have the slowest metabolism on earth! HA!
Weight training is also excellent it tones your muscles and makes you stronger and burns a TON of calories and NO you will not become a freaky man-woman by lifting weights! HA! We are not naturally designed to build that much muscle and do not have the testosterone to do it either.

Anyway, enough of me blabbering on - just please do not give up??!!! - Every time you think of giving up - think about your goal - it is achievable!

excersize is just as important as eating healthy. i lost like 10 pounds in about 3 days cause i just started running like for an hour then bike for an hour i probally push my self to much cause i can barely walk after that but im look so much better every day you just got to stick to it and the fat will drop. also try weight training that raises your metabolism

I worked out for a whole year without any real progress. I gave up a few weeks ago. But I do plan on going back to it. I just have to take this time off to rethink ways to tackle the problem. To me, time off isn't so bad ...as long as it is going to help you in the long run.

Louise,

You know that before things get better they manage to look worse. This is a test. My question to you is, "do you want to lose weight?" If you truely do, then keep eating right and throw in some cardio 3-4 per week for 45 minutes per day @ 80% of your max heart rate.

This takes time. You will start to notice a change around 20 days into this cardio routine as long as you are limiting your calorie intake and eating healthy. Also, try breaking your meals up and eating more often.

Don't forget to drink ALOT of water. A gallon a day is a good guesstimate.

Stick with it and your dreams will come true!

Luise, you're on the right path, but eating good foods isn't enough. I mean, today is considered "good" eating with almost zero fat, and that will probably lead you to failure anyway. You need to plan your diet accordingly counting grams of each macronutrient that you consume according to what your activities require, and of course following a training program will make you achieve your goals much sooner.
The fact that you aren’t improving is sign of that your program is not good and you need to adjust it. Doing the right things is effective and there’s no reason to give up.
I’m willing to help you if you’re interested.

Regards.
