Hey everyone,
I am Abhay, and I have finally after years of being overweight have decided to start being healthy. My goal is to eat healthy and exercise after which weight loss will follow naturally.
I have started on 10 th January but my weighting machine just came today so I am starting my dairy today.
My current weight-208.8 lbs
Height- 5 foot 11 inches
My goal-eh I don't have a goal but losing 20 lbs first would motivate me further.
What I Ate Today-I want to cook almost all foods in home and avoid as much packaged food and junk food as I can.
Breakfast-1 Apple and 2 kiwis
Grilled Veggie sandwich x 2 (cucumber, tomatoes, sauce made up of crushed mint, paprika, cheese *I don't know if it was a good idea but it was a little bit in amount.)
Lunch-
Okra curry with 2 roti bread (I am Indian so curry would come up often)
and a banana
Dinner-eggplant curry and 2 roti bread
Corn soup (I have some ready to make corn soup but I decided to make it at home from internet and woohoo it came out good)
So that was all I had and
Exercises I did-
2 mile walking in morning and some jogging in between (I don't know if 2 miles is fine or I need more walking)
9 minutes cardio workout from fitness blender (a YouTube channel)
3 mile cycling (for some work)
I just walked a mile now at night because it feels amazing to walk at night.
I don't know if it's enough exercise but that's what I did.
So thank you guys for reading it and I will update it tomorrow.

Hey - welcome to the forum! I read a story last month with the name Abhay and the name means "without fear" - it's lovely :)

Do you do all your own cooking so you can control what you're having? You exercise looks good - 2 miles is a decent walk, especially if your combining it with the other stuff you're doing like the cycling!

Thank you very much Sunflower, yes today surprisingly I did all my cooking from sandwiches to curries to the soup and thank you for your suggestion on walking so I might continue 2 miles walking Daily morning combined with cycling.

Hey Abhay and another welcome to the forum! Your food sounds delicious but I don´t see much protein. Which is fine as long as you´re feeling good but would help keep you full longer if you should start to become hungry between meals.

Sorry for cutting in but i find protein in just about every natural food minus fruit and raw sugar. I dont know if you eat meat or eggs but thats a good source. Milk yogurt cheeses almost all veggies have protein in various levels. Some brands of milks yogurts cheeses even have added protein. The only thing is that some of those increase the sugar content also. I have no idea why but that seems to be the case in some brands. Things like nuts seeds and peanut butter pack a good protein punch.
Best of luck to u

What Rebel said, but also beans and pulses: lentils, chickpeas, soy beans... All awesome sources of plant-based protein.

Thanks for replying Rebel,I do eat eggs and I am planning to eat them tomorrow but not that much meat.it's 10:30 pm here in India now so I am looking forward for tomorrow.have a nice day.

Hi, abhay & welcome to the forum. It sounds like you have a good plan already, that will just need some adjusting. Adding protein will help fill you up. All the best, Cate.

Thank you cate,I will update the dairy tonight and will try to add more protein it's 6:30 am here so I am looking forward to the day.Have a nice day!

Hi Abhay, welcome to the forum! Eggs are a great and easy source of protein if you boil a bunch. Then you can have two in the morning with your fruit. Your meals sound delicious and I'm glad to see you're your own cook. Keep us updated :)
Hey Vtonix thanks for motivation.cooking our own food is fun as well as healthy.I will update after 4 hours or so.

Hey everyone,
So today it was a great day,I used stairs instead of elevator to climb 4 floors! Ate home made lunch while my friends were eating in the canteen with all those fried and oily foods.
So today's weight - 206.5 lbs so a total 2.3 lbs loss! I don't know if its unhealthy but I just ate enough today.
What I ate Today-
Breakfast- 2 eggs (hard boiled) and blueberry and kiwi shake with slim milk and some blueberries on top of it (it was yummy)
Lunch- 2 Roti bread with mint sause and Cauliflower curry and
A banana
Dinner- 2 Roti bread with dal (lentils slow cooked with spices such as turmeric, paprika, cumin, garlic, ginger and garam masala)
and now I am eating overnight oats with almonds.
I think I ate too much today but I am not certain, but I didn't get hungry actually I am quiet satisfied.I am happy that I still lost those 2 lbs there so please recommend the flaws in my diet.
Exercises I did- the usual 2 mile walk in the morning
and after that 20 mins yoga
no cycling today unfortunately but I did 30 minutes cardio workout after getting home
I think I should also consider those stairs that I climbed instead of elevator.
So that's my day guys thank you for reading and I will update it tomorrow again!
Have a nice day.

Sounds like you're doing very well! Glad to see much more protein in your food list today. I don't know if you're eating too much because I don't know how big your portions were or how much oil you used while cooking but it sounds both nice and well-balanced to me :)

Portions were not that big .curry and lentils were both near a cup, oats were in a mid sized bowl and those flat roti breads were near 5 inches in diameter.I used about 2 tbps oil to saute onions and spices and about same in lentils.

A lot of use myfitnesspal to log calories Abhay - it can be a helpful way to make sure you're not over/under estimating your calories. I love roti - delicious! There is between 80-110 calories in a roti depending on size (usually) - again, depends how you're cooking things and how big your portions are. If you have the same meals over and over again (like me!) then myfitnesspal can really help as once you've done the ingredients once you can log it really easily.

Thanks for replying Sunflower:),I might download it soon and yes rotis are delicious! in India they are staple.I have rotis everyday just the curry is different everyday.

I so love Indian food, but have to skip anything with wheat (Rotis, Naan bread etc). I use My Fitness Pal too. It has a surprising array of different foods already listed. It's well worth a try for you abhay.

If MyFitnessPal doesn't or if you're like me and alter recipes or cook your own food, this website can be a lifesaver. I measure everything now - it goes right on the scale/measuring cups. It helps me see what my portions are and not just guess - If I can eat 2 tbsp of cheese, I want the full amount without going over but I want every morsel I can get.

It does seem overwhelming at first - it took me almost 2 months to like weighing and measuring my food - but it truly does get to be second nature and a lot easier/healthier!
