ABBAgirl's Diary

Hello ABBAgirl

Thanks for the msg!! I enjoyed it. My mom actually lives in B.C., she was in Kelowna last year but than moved to Oliver B.C. to take care of her Father.

Anyways I also have been meaning to comment on your Quote, I LOVE IT!!
Looks like you've come along way! And are maintaining, AWESOME-NESS!!

Take Care :seeya:

Thanks kindly for dropping by, Running Girl!

Tomorrow I am off to the Big City (that's Vancouver, around these parts) TO GET LASIK DONE ON MY EYES!!! I feel quite awkward with the timing, hate to leave DH with all of the diabetes work for two days, but these plans were made months ago with a nonrefundable deposit.

I am heading out early in the a.m. with my best pal. The drive is about 4 hours, so we'll have a little time to enjoy the city prior to my procedure at 2pm. Who knows what mischief we'll get up to tomorrow night . Then we will drive back home the very next day. *sigh* We had originally planned on taking an extra day "to ourselves," but the timing isn't right just now.

My daughter is actually at school today, and it seems she will stay there the WHOLE day! This is a victory for which I am grateful. Her blood sugar numbers have been really good the last two days, which is such a relief! :svengo:

I have faithfully been using my new 'mill, which I just love. It feels good to exercise.

Next time I write in this diary I will be GLASSES FREE!!!!!!!!!

:hurray:Okay, I'm back! nearly a month later, but i'm back, anyway. Glasses free! One eye is really clear, but the other is not so sharp yet. Good enough to drive and work on the 'puter, though. Slower recovery than I'd expected.

We continue learning about diabetes. This month is going better than last month. It is still tiring and scary. We end up at the ER on occasion, but we are catching on. Her sugars are a bit better since we've become more aggressive with her insulin. Thank God for my husband - he is so smart and has been an absolute rock through it all. That is why I married him, I guess.

My *&^% new treadmill is now busted (the conveyor belt kept sliding over to the side and is now totally ruined), so I am back using my 5$ auction special. DH managed to make it an even steeper incline, which is just hilarious. Even when all I do is walk on it, I am drenched in sweat. It's great!

Haven't weighed myself in a couple of weeks, hope I am still lurking around that baseline of 154. I expect so. I never weigh when Aunt Flo is visiting - just a little break I give myself. However, my eating is about the same, and I am hitting the 'mill several x per week.

I have just recently started working from home, which should be better for the fam. I haven't worked in 2 months since daughter was diagnosed, and we cannot pay our bills. So it is good that they finally gave me the nod and now I can do my work from home. We shall see how it turns out. I really do enjoy my job!

Cheers :waving:

Looked through family albums today and was MORTIFIED by pics of me as I approached - and was at - my heaviest. :angelsad2: I remember not feeling good about myself, but I absolutely did not see myself as large as I actually was. While I am disappointed at my failure to bust through the 150s, I am still pleased with my progress and maintenance! When I look at myself in the mirror, I feel good. :waving: I like my silhouette and my shape.

I didn't get on the mill today, but did take my eldest daughter for a good walk down by the lake. It was absolutely gorgeous, and a great start to our summer tourist season!

Tomorrow I will be back on the 'mill.

Worked out, feeling tired. I think I am trying to do too much right now. Figuring out insulin with our daughter remains a total challenge. When she is in so much pain and weeping and we can't do anything to help her, it is just so terribly hard.:banghead:

Plus I have a wicked sinus infection. Plus aunt flow is visiting. Plus I am still working out all of the glitches as I am starting to work from home. :nopity::nopity::nopity:

I need sleep.

THanks for the encouragement. We surely have been through a lot. I am believing that better days are coming.

I am signed up for another boot camp, much as I don't feel like it! :puke: Monday night will be my first one. Three evenings per week for one hour each. Blah! But it will be good to get me out of the house.

Working from home is going pretty well, though I haven't been paid yet. I am very curious how much it will work out to getting paid by the line instead of by the hour. Mind you, anything will be more than I've made in the past 2 months, which is diddly squat since I haven't been able to work! So this will be a sure improvement. At least I can say that I truly do enjoy my job.:hurray:

So here's to me getting my beach booty! :biggrinjester:

Hello ABBA,

What kind of work are you doing from home? With the laser eye treatment that you got...did they stick a needle in your eye whilst you were awake to fix it? :willy_nilly:

Did your daughter just get diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes? I didn't know there is so much pain that comes with it. My Grammie had type two Diabetes. I knew a girl I went to school with that has Juvenile Diabetes, now that I think of it, I think she was always kind of sick, but I don't know, I am just trying to remember if she was ever as sick as your daughter.

I hope you are well. Take Care :seeya:

Yes, our prayers are with the Stafford family. Let's hope our "Justice System" actually does something right, for a change, and hangs the buggers out to dry. :banghead: BTW, I work as a medical transcriptionist, writing out reports of every kind you can imagine. It is SO interesting! I love it. But a learning curve changing from the Office to home.

My eyes are recovering from the procedure, but slower than I had hoped. No, they did NOT stick a needle in my eye! Ewww!!! They just use numbing drops to freeze them. I had Lasik done in one eye (where they make a slit) and in the other I had PRK, which is when they dissolve the top portion of the epithelium. I felt nothing during the procedures.

As for my daughter, yes she was just diagnosed March 27 with juvenile diabetes (AKA type 1). I don't think this much pain is normal; they suspect that she has some other autoimmune issues going on, as diabetes is an autoimmune disease. We are going to Children's Hospital shortly to get some tests run. It is a hard time for us all.

Imagine my HORROR when I finally stepped on the scale this morning (first time in a couple of weeks) and it said I was up to 160 lbs!!! OMgosh, that just about made me faint. But it's a good thing I found out in time to reverse the trend! I am not overly surprised: stress + broken treadmill + steep learning curve with diabetes and now working at home, etc. + not watching my food = BIG FAT WEIGHT GAIN!!!

So today I started writing down all my food intake again. I do also suspect that our scale is a tad off, or that I may be retaining some; but not that much! I am starting boot camp at the right time, that's for sure! :gnorsi:

Watch this space for updates...or should I say downdates, as I shrink some more :biggrinjester:

Cheers

Ughhh, I'm having one of those weight weeks myself.

I didn't know you were a medical transcriptionist. I was thinking of going to school for Medical Administration. How do you like it?

Love, love, love it! :Angel_anim: It is so interesting! If your typing is fast enough and you also use expanders to their full advantage, you can actually do pretty well for yourself financially working as an MT. You have to be persnickety with language/grammar, etc. And have a good ear to hear through accents!

Cheers

Yeah - and most likely they have been outsourced to India! Grrr...:reddevil: don't get me started on that one...

Anyhoo, too tired to write much tonight. Tomorrow night first time at bootcamp - expecting the worst!:ack2:

You Can Do It Put Your Back Into It!!!! BOOTCAMP!!!! Goooo Knock em' dead. ;)

:waving: Well, bootcamp wasn't too hard at all - since tonight was just the fitness testing! It was basic: Run just over 1 km, how many pushups can you do in one minute (and crunches), how long can you do the plank, etc. Also measurements taken.

This camp is one hour/night x 3 nights/wk. In addition I'll keep doing either my treadmill or running outside some. I do feel motivated to not only nip this gain in the bud, but also lose more.:hurray:

Cheers

:ack2:HERE COME DA PAIN...
Okay, bootcamp tonight was total punishment!!! My abs, quads, and biceps are TOTALLY sore. It was a lot of hard work, circuit type stuff - how many crunches, pushups, etc. in one minute; hold the plank position for 2 minutes (yeah, right:icon_bs:); squatting lunges with weights; leg lifts with weights; running with weights, etc.
I repeat: :ack2:

Oh, and did I mention that I started my day by going for a 5k walk/run? My girls' school is right across from a park with a 1K walking track, so I did speed walking 3x and ran it once. I didn't even know how long it was! AND IT WAS RAINING!!! Okay, I totally deserve to lose weight and look like the babe I am.

All for now:seeya:
ABBA

:DYAY ME!!! I started my day by going 10K at the park! I was able to run 2K before my knee got too testy; the other 8 I did speed walking! Mind you, the whole thing took just over an hour, so I'm not sure how "speedy" that was. But hey, it's a good thing to do on my day off of bootcamp!

Tonight I am either taking my little girl swimming or to a "community drumming circle." She loves spending time alone with me (even though there are a gazillion other things I ought to be doing) and since she is still so sick, I am hoping that it will be therapeutic. :Angel_anim:

Cheers

Hello ABBA,

WOOT! You're gonna be sooo damn fine!!!

Have fun with your daughter at the community drumming circle. When I was really sick in the hospital, my dad used to come pick me up and take me to the Petland across the way. I really enjoyed it, found it therapeutic too!! Holding the cute fuzzy lil critters!!

Take Care :beating:
