AB Exercises Whilst Watching Soccer?

Over the last six weeks I have managed to improve my diet and start exercising on a regular basis which I enjoy. But I find it difficult doing AB crunches. I also watch about 6 hours a week of soccer (or football, Im English) so I want to do some form of easy going ab exercise whilst Im watching football. I have seen the 6 Second AB machine which touts that people can loose 1" in a week but even if it has a 1/10 of this impact if Im using it for nearly 6 hours a week surely it will have some form on impact. Basically the question Im asking is does anyone know any good ab exercise I can do whilst watching soccer? If I can find something it could a real benefit to overall exercise. Should I give a go? Its only about $30.00?

What are peoples thoughts?

Total waste of money imho

6 hours of ab excercises?? Why? The abdominal muscles are no different to any other muscle - overtraining them will not make them magically appear.

If you want to do ab excercises, there are plenty you can do without any equipment like basic crunches for example, side crunches, V crunches, leg raises - the list goes on. But please, please, please do not do these for 6 hours a week, you'll injure yourself!

Just so I'm clear - why is it ' difficult ' ?

Do you have some physical ailment ( i.e bad back ) that makes it ' difficult ' to do crunches, or is it simply a case that it's ' difficult ' because you have week abdominal muscles ?

Cause if it's the latter - sorry, that's no excuse.:)

I think a better idea might be strive for some ' effective ' ab exercises instead of ' easy ' ones.:)

As the others have mentioned, 6 hours a week isn't needed.

You can get a good ab workout in under 20 minutes a day - 3X a week.......which is 1 hour a week instead of 6.

If by ' 1" ' they're implying you will lose fat.....it's a lie - it can't happen.

That bogus claim is simply an example of the " spot reducing myth "

but even if it has a 1/10 of this impact if Im using it for nearly 6 hours a week surely it will have some form on impact.

A negligible impact ( on body fat / size ) - if at all - IMO.

You'd be much better off putting the $30 toward a small medicine ball or stability ball IMO.

I find it difficult because after the first few crunches the affect wears off and I cant feel anything, no tightening up etc. Obviously I wouldn't do six hours if hald an hour has the desired effect. But I have this time available I want to use to target the abs but in a way that allows me to watch football.

maybe your technique is off ? how do you do your crunches exactly ?

If its within your budget, how about a cross-trainer or excercise bike? Cardiovascular excercise will go a lot further towards exposing your abs than any amount of ab crunches etc. I always watch sport on TV while I'm doing cardio (UFC mainly, I find it motivational).

Well I bought one of these, it was only $30 but is not enough resistance in it to make it worth while. It tires out your arms more than anything else. You dont feel any sort of pinch on the abs.
