Hello! This is my first entry and I'm excited to be starting a diary on here! I joined a few years ago but got really caught up in school and my thesis project and basically had no time to focus on eating healthy, but that's changed! Since I've finished school I've been able to focus on eating better and exercising. So far I've lost about 16pounds in about 5 months, but I'm hoping to speed things up a bit. I'm in 2 weddings this year as a bridesmaid and I wanna look good and feel confident!! Anyway, we'll see how this goes. I'm hoping to get to know some of you on here soon! So many of you guys have been an inspiration to me and I'm hoping maybe I can add to the many inspiring stories that are posted on this forum. Anyway, I'm off to start the day with a nice run! I'll be back later when I've got more to say! Still kind of waking up...

Before pics

So I decided that I should post some "before" pics just to get things going. I just took these literally 2 minutes ago so they are pretty current haha! I weighed myself right before which came out to be 156.6lbs. My height is 5'2" and my measurements are:

Chest - 40in
Waist - 33in
Hips - 40in

I'll post about my daily diet and exercise in more detail later on, but real quick, so far today I ran 2 miles in about 22 minutes, and had a bowl of honey nut cheerios.

Anyway, gotta run (not literally, just gotta "run" some errands)!

WOW! You look great already :D I love your hair, it's so pretty :) Nice job on the run too!!! Keep it up! :hurray:

Ah! I feel so honored to have a comment on my diary from you! You're definitely an inspiration to me! And thanks for the complement :)

Off to go see Bela Fleck in concert! Woo woo! Any one else a fan??

I didn't get much time to write in my diary today, cleaned the whole apartment FINALLY, but I did lose 1 pound despite my food intake getting a bit out of hand yesterday (a slice of pepperoni pizza from Sbarro for lunch and ravioli from Bertuccis for dinner... :banghead:), which is definitely good news! I just got back from another 2 mile run! My heart rate is getting a lot better too! Anyway, I'll write more tomorrow! Sorry for the short entries so far!

Bye!

I'm not sure how it happened, but I'm down to 152lbs now! I ran about 8 miles yesterday, so that might have helped. But I also had a small thing of chicken nuggets from Chick-fil-a which was bad and a few other bad things, but today has been good. I made sushi last night which turned out not very good, but still healthy haha! And my mile run has improved. I can do at least a 10 minute mile now which is great (for me!) I put on a pair of pants I haven't worn in 3 years and I could button them! I my stomach hangs out a little bit but they are still wearable nonetheless (size 28!). We'll see how this goes!

I'm so bad about going in to detail about what I've been doing in my journal. I need to work on that. I've just been super busy this last week. I've been trying to start a new job and plus trying to figure out where I'm going for Thanksgiving. I might end up going down to Tennessee with my boyfriend which will be fun, but my grandma back up in Massachusetts (where my family is from and lives) is not going to be around much longer we don't think, and I want to be able to spend as many holidays with her until it's too late. But I don't really have a car to get myself home, nor do I have money to get myself a train ticket from DC. Ah well, hopefully I'll have some time off around Christmas to get home. I miss my friends and family! And I want to see if they can notice a difference with my weightloss thus far. Anyway, I'll hopefully get to write again later!!

Oye vey! It has been so long since I last posted! The holidays were very busy... I had to travel back and forth between California, Washington DC, Boston, and Tennessee in the last month! Plus I finally started getting regular shifts at work, but this week I have 5 days off!! Ahh, I need to make more money! I haven't been able to go to the gym regularly since December 19th, so I haven't lost any weight this month so far, but I'll be going everyday this week to see what happens. Hopefully I'll get addicted again... I am down to 151 though, which is pretty good. I'm just glad I didn't gain anything over the holidays considering I was part of 2 weddings plus I attended a number of Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners for my family spread all over the country.

Aaaanyway! Thanks for all who have been checking back in on my before and after thread! It was just the motivation I needed to get back into the gym this week! I'll be updating again soon!

I hope everyone had a great holiday and New Years!

HURRAY! I just broke into the 140s! I weighed myself yesterday and I was 149! That's very exciting and very motivating! Now I can't WAIT to get to the gym this morning!

Speaking of the gym, yesterday while working out I had a really hard time. Waay harder than usual. I had the worst cramp right under my rib, but I kept going. It hurt a lot, but I figured I should just work through the pain. I hope that wasn't a bad idea. I feel better now, but it kinda scared me a little.

We had a running clinic at work the other day which has made me totally change how I view how I run and what shoes I wear. I realize that I have the worst shoes possible for my feet. Unfortunately I don't have the money to get a new pair of running shoes right now, but I need to asap. It's very important to have proper shoes. I have super flat feet and I learned that I pronate a lot which can be a huuge burden on your joints and can cause a whole bunch of problems later on. I need to get shoes that have a lot more support for my flat feet and it will definitely pay off in the long run. Anyone who reads this, I definitely recommend you find out what kind of runner you are and what kind of feet you have and get fitted for a proper pair of running shoes if you can. It really is important.

Anyway, I'm going to clean up the apartment a little bit and hit the gym for a while. Have a great day!!

Yes, I agree. I have very high arches, so if I run too much, my feet start to cramp unless I have just the right kind of shoes with good support. It can really improve your running and protect the impact on your joints too.

Sounds like you're doing so well! I saw your pictures and was like "No way you're 156 at 5'2". You look great already, but after the progress you've shown, I'm sure you look fantastic. Keep us posted ^_^ I'm 5'2" as well, btw.

Congrats! And wow I never thought about the shoe/foot thing... I should probably look into that, thanks. And good luck from a fellow redhead! :D

Hey, glad to see you're back :) Congrats on getting to the 140's. That is awesome for you. I need to get my feet checked out as well. I went for a 7 mile run 2 weeks ago and ended up with a huge blister on the bottom of my foot, a little over an inch in diameter I'd say! It was gross! But it reminded me that I need to see a specialist!

Keep up the good work, you have come very far already :D

Once again I suck at updating this! Not much has changed in the ways of weight loss this month though. I'm still at about 147-149. Stupid plateau! I've tried to up my workout intensity though. This last week I've been doing Jillian Michael's Quick Trouble Zones (the 24 minutes version from onDemand) then her Boost Metabolism workout (also the 25 minute one from onDemand), which basically means that the circuits aren't doubled up so it's a quicker workout. Then after that I usually run about 2 miles on the treadmill which takes about 22 minutes. So, all in all, about an hour and a half workout. My heart rate hasn't improved much which is disappointing. I'm not sure how to improve that. I tried doing the interval training (thanks to being inspired by Sarah's workouts from her journal!) and that was HAAARD! I think I'll try to stick with that. In other news, lent starts today, so I'm going to try and give up cookies and chocolate. That's seriously my weakness. I have been watching what I eat since November, but man, I usually have something like an oreo or a bit of chocolate at least once a day.

Thanks to everyone who commented!!!

Hey girl! Thanks for the shout out ;) Don't worry about the plateau, it will pass soon! Just keep it up with the workouts! :) I have been around the same weight for like the last 2 months, it is RIDICULOUS! But then again, I haven't been giving it as much effort as I had been giving in the beginning.

I started a new diary... it's called, "A goal without a plan is just a wish..." so stop by there if ya want :D

Keep it up, I'm happy to see you're sticking with it!
