A New year full of motivation!

Okay, I don't know how well I will be able to keep up with this online diary thing - I did it before, but I tend to have the attention span of a fly, so we'll see how this goes. However - whether or not I keep at the diary, I have the intention of sticking to my goal of losing 10 lbs.
How?
Go to curves (gym) 3 times a week - this is doable
Walk the dog at least twice a day - this is a MUST anyway.
Drink lots of water - Harder for me, but if I focus, I can do it.
Eat 1-2 fruits/veggies a day - I barely eat any right now

Once I have these things down pat (mostly the water & veggies) i will focus more on food daily. I doubt I will write down everything I eat every day, so hopefully here I will post about how the goals are going and just stick to that for now.

The last weigh in I had at Curves I was 172 lbs I think? I can't remember all of the measurements, but I had lost a few inches over the holidays which is superb!! My first goal in weight is to hit 169 and stay there for awhile - I LOVE being just under 170, lol so lets see if I can do it!

try using a site like -- or one of the other 100s of free calorie counting sites on the web -it's a great wayy to keep track of your calories plus other important nutrients...

welcome to your diary and mch success on your journey

Well we are glad that despite the attention span of a fly you managed to land down long enough to let us know about you. I hope it all works out really well for you. There is much support surrounding you *hopefully no fly swatters * ;)

Hahaha - thanks!! It definitely helps to have support!!
I've been weighing in at 170lbs the last 2 days which is two pounds lower than what I started at - we'll see how that maintains though, it's only been a day or two. But that would be a great start! Walkign the puppy definitely helps as well!! We walk at least twice a day, usually 3 times!!

Okay, so I need to kick my ass into gear with the exercise - I've definitely been keeping up with the walking (as we have a dog), but only went to curves ONCe last week, i was doing way better pre-xmas. Won't go today because I have a million things to do and NEED to grocery shop or my food habits will slip too. So tomorrow I WILL go to curves! We have to drive the in-laws to the airport tonight (4 hours away) so I will be sleepy tomorrow - I also teach in the pm, but I WILL go on my way home from work! I HAVE to!
Food has been OKAY - still eating out a lot and making poor choices then, but am getting better and forcing myself to find something around the house first - we desperately need groceries.
Any good healthy "snack" ideas (instead of chips?)
~Nicole~

Raw fruit - oranges are in season, pears, apples.
Raw veggies - sugar snap peas, snow peas, baby carrots, bell peppers if you like them, jicama, grape tomatoes, celery...
String cheese
Baked chips (not the fake-fat kind - Baked Lays and Tostitos are both good either plain or with salsa)

I will look into the baked chips :) I bought some popcorn as well (and fruit!!) I actually bought some oranges, haha. I have to start training myself to crave fruit rather than say...ice cream.

I was going to bail on curves today, but I think I will force myself to get there - once I'm there I'm SOOO GLAD I went, so I just need to get there! Took the dog for a 40 minute walk in the snow this morning, she loved it!! I'm glad that freezing weather is over with for awhile b/c it was too hard to get out in.

Edit: Still holding on at 170!

Still mega-slacking on the exercise - didn't go to curves at all last week - I am going today after work, I have my bag all ready to go and am going to make a lunch to eat so I will have the energy. I HAVE been walking 10-20 minutes twice a day every day though with the dog so at least that's something!
