A new start for MommyOf2!!

Well, OK! Here I am! HH - you are so funny - you totally caught me. I did not even log on my computer all weekend. How did I think I could get away with THAT??? We were just so darn busy. I went to 3 fun "shin digs" this weekend and avoided a lot of nasty temptations including cupcakes. So I'm happy abt. that. I do feel like my waistline is a big expanded, but I didn't go to my regular work-outs on Th. or Sat. due to a cold. But I'm over it now and back to the gym first thing tomorrow morning. Yay!

I hope everyone is doing great!

Glad to hear you've recovered from your cold! :) Those really can make working out tough. ;) Way to go on resisting all those nasty temptations, I am so impressed with your will power!

You can bet that I'm gonna catch ya. But it is good that you were able to enjoy a weekend with your family. Don't worry about checking in here. Congratulations on avoiding the temptations. Hope you get over that cold soon!

Food today:
B: 2 poached eggs, wheat toast (dry), and coffee
Sn: Apple
L: 1/2 chicken pizza w/ vegies; iced tea (sw. w/ splenda)
Sn: clementine; other half of pizza
D: Tuna, noodles, diet root beer

No exercise - but I'm on track for a killer workout tomorrow first thing.

You still did great today even though you didn't exercise!! How is the kickboxing instructor by the way!! lol.. Is he still giving you a great workout? Hope you have a great day tomorrow!!

Good mornin' MO2 :D You finally surfaced! LOL Glad you could enjoy your weekend - you deserved a break. How is Lacey? Colds suck, good thing you're over yours :D Hope t'day goes well for ya. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for stopping by all! So far so good - and Lacey is really doing quite well. She's not eating as much as we'd like her to. Seems to have lost her taste for her dry food after being given wet food, eggs, cheese, tri tip roast, and other yummy foods. Thanks for your concern! She's just our Big Beluga after all!!! I'll try to post a photo so you can see her.

Hey glad you are doing well. Also glad to hear Lacey is too! I love my pups so I know how that goes. Our doggies go ta little spoiled with soft food at one point, so what we did was take their dry food, run a wee bit of water over it and then nuke it in the microwave for a brief bit to soften it up. They loved it! Made the house stink of dog food but, they devoured it. Might work for your doggie too! :)

Hey girl! Just stopping by to check on ya! Glad to see that Lacey is feeling better. I used to have a dog that had been fed regular food before we got her and she didn't want to eat her dry food either. Dogs can be so stubborn sometimes!

Hey Girlfriend Its Wonderful Wednesday Lets Rock Them Scales!!

Hey hun! I'm glad Lacey is doing much better!! My dog will eat anything.. weather he is sick or not! He loves to eat.. the other night i dropped a slice of a tomato in the floor while fixing my salad.. before I could even bend down to pick it up he was eating it! lol.. Hope you had a great day today!!

My dog seems to be the same way. He eats anything. But lately we cant give him bread of any kind because five minutes later he is puking it up and it just gives us a messt o fight with. Im so glad Lacey is feeling much better! Keep up your good determination!!!

Sorry I've been absent, but I'm dealing wtih a crossroads in my life. Can anyone give me some perspective??

I need some advice. for the past four years, I've worked part time coordinating a family literacy grant at an elementary school two days a week. It's great balance for me. And it keeps my foot in the door of a really outstanding school district. My husband has a precarious job and if he were to lose it, I could get a full time job in the fall and we could survie on my salary no problem. However, I'm losing my job at the end of the school year. Politicians don't want to give $ to empower the disenfranchised, so our grant is on the chopping block. (Sorry to editorialize - it's just that I see all the growth our families make toward getting out of the cycle of poverty and I can't believe the program wouldn't be expanded rather than cut!!)

The word has gotten out that I might be up for grabs next year, and I've gotten 4 offers. I'm having a hard time choosing. It's scary, really. Can you give me the perspective?

1. Adult Education - out of the classroom; curriculum planning; staff training; etc. Flexible hours somewhat, no sub plans if I'm out. I'd be working for a friend (the principal) who I like. Actually, that's the situation with all four offers.
2. Part time fifth grade teacher - I'd work 2 or 3 days a week; job share w/ another mom. The school is wildly different from any school I've been at. Only 4% of the population is learning English! 70% is white, less than 5% is on free and reduced lunch. Crazy demographics I've never seen! Even though it doesn't have need, it doesn't have picky parents either. It's just a nice, sleepy school. 400 students (smaller than any school I've been at) with two classes per grade level. The principal has said that if I come, she'd guarantee spots for my girls when they start school. There's on-site after & before school care.
3. Jr. High ESL - another job share. I'd do 2 or 3 days a week. I don't know much, but it would be teaching pretty much the same thing all day. I'd have maybe two preps per day. A bit of grading. I do not know a thing about Jr. High and neither does the person who wants to job share w/ me.
4. Job share 2nd grade at my current school. I'd do 3 days a week . I'd be w/ the person who I've been job-sharing with for the past 3 years. Good and bad. I have a lot of respect for her. Smart, hard-working. Problem is, she lacks confidence in herself and relies on me a LOT. Has to run every decision past me, constantly needs reassuring, etc. Frankly, it gets exhausting. It is at my school which I know teaching the population that I know. It's not, however, certain that this will turn into an actual opening. It depends on numbers.

So, what do you think? Any thoughts or perspective would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

As far as the diet goes, I've done kick-ass work-outs Tues. (step and scuplt), Wed. (kickboxing), and today I'm doing cycle. Yay! Christina - my kickboxing instructor is just the same. Such a character! He calls me his diva in training. (Like I want to be a diva!!! I'm a mom!!!) He scolds anyone for talking, stopping to get a drink of water or wipe their brow. Ugh! It's annoying. But funny! I am dying - snot dripping, sweat everywhere, completely parched w/ thirst, but do I stop???? I sure don't want to be yelled at!!! What a work-out though!

Food has been ok. Not great, but not bad. I haven't eaten anything particularly bad other than 2 slices of pizza the past two nights. We were given a free pizza and had night time events for the girls both nights, so basically ate the pizza since it was convenient. Other than that, no temptations given in to. AND my niece delivered the g/s cookies yesterday. Haven't touched 'em!!

I hope everyone is well - I'll be around to journals in a bit. Sorry I've been away, but this crossroads really has me a bit loopy.

Hey girl! Sorry you are having such a hard time making a decision with this. I know how that is. In my opinion, the job at the elementary school that said your kids would have a spot there would be the way I would go probably. That is, if it is a good school academically, good test results and all that. You would only have to work a couple of days a week and be with the kids a lot. Then when they are in school, you would have the added bonus of having them near you during the day. There has been so many times that I wish I had went to school to be a teacher instead of the path I chose. And I am honestly thinking about using my law degree and be a professor at a college somewhere. But anyway, back to you. Lol! I have a lot of confidence that you will choose what is right for you and your family. As someone once told me, you probably already know which one you would prefer. Let me know how it goes! :)
