I'm back! I started the big diet on July 7, 2005 and managed to lose 23 lbs. by mid-December after which I had emergency hernia surgery. I tried easing back into exercise in mid-January, but it was too soon. Painful, I became light-headed. So I said that I'd be back to full capacity on Feb. 1st. Today. And I am! I had a great kickboxing work-out today and I feel good.

So my weigh-in for today is 164.

Food:

Kashi Cereal, non-fat milk
2 cups coffee w/ 1/2 cup non-fat milk and 2 tsp. creamer

Tuna, apple, Quakes (9), decaf. tea unsweetened.

Whoo hooo! I'm so glad you are back! I've missed you! I know you are going to do great, just like before. :)

By the way, check in my diary to see what I did to myself!

Food for the rest of the day ...

8 oz. milk with carnation protein mix (160 cal.)
11 caramel quakes (70 cal.)

Small bowl pretzals

Spinach ravioli w/ parm. chs.
diet root beer
toast

New Bride - I have to laugh at your Hello Kitty stamp. I'm surrounded by Hello Kitty everything. My girls love it!

HH - I posted on your diary. You poor thing!!! I feel for you all the more having gone through that.

GonnaB - thanks for the support!!

Mommyof2,
Your food is looking really good. You must like those Quakes! What are they? Are you able to exercise again or do you still have to take it easy?

I'm actually easing back into my old exercise regime. I missed it so much! I guess taking a break was probably good for keeping me motivated. I still have some trouble w/ abs from the hernia, but other than that I'm on fire!! LOL

Exercise today - 1 hr. Cycle/spin (should count as two hours - it's a kick-ass class!!!)
Breakfast: Kashi w/ n/f milk; 1.5 cups coffee w/ 1/2 cup n/f milk, 2 tsp. creamer.
Lunch: Tuna, wheat bread, apple, 7 quakes, iced tea (unsweetened)

For dinner, I'm planning on tri tip with steamed vegies and basmati rice. Yum! I can diet and still love food!!

Oh - HH, Quakes are rice cakes by Quaker. Yummy!! I love 'em!

Well, duh! I should have realized that! In your first post, it said you did the kickboxing class. Sorry! Just been out of it a bit these days. :)

Hi all! Thanks for stopping by, HH and GonnaB!

I had a good day! I took a group of 30 moms and preschoolers to the museum and resisted all the yummy snacks afterwards. Yay!

Food for today:

Kashi Go Lean Cereal w/ n/f milk
2 Cups coffee w/ 1/2 cup n/f milk and 2 tsp. creamer

Apple

Quizno's Chicken Milano sandwich
Baked Lay's (resisted the urge to buy Jalapeno chips!! Yay!)
Iced tea (unsweetened)

Chicken, rice, vegies, diet root beer

I may or may not have a bowl of cereal before bed. Last night I kept waking up hungry through the night. What do people do to avoid that? I really need to sleep tonight. I've got a super sick kid. Thanks in advance!

OH! No exercise today, but I never exercise on Fridays. I'll be spinning first thing in the a.m.

Good job on resisting those temptations! :D

I usually try to have a snack after dinner, but at least a couple of hours before bed. And maybe try to have something with fiber since it seems to make you feel full longer.

I to love the quaker rice cakes I like the apple kind The make a great snack when you just have to have something and love the crunch , Sory to hear you had to have surgery thats never no fun . I bet kick boxing can be so much fun and a great workout Wish we had classes around here . And you eat some of the best sounding food wish I had your will power .

Good mornin', Mommyof2, hope last night went alright with a sick child - that really sucks:( Just took a quick peeksy and have to say I am addicted to those stupid Quakes!!! LOL the caramel ... mmmmmmm  Also, at night I eat mainly protein so I don't wake up during the night. Once I cut carbs at night (energy for you body) and concentrated on veggies and lots of protein, I stopped getting up at night. Depending on your caloric allowance, you could also eat carbs but have a TBSP or so of creamy peanut butter (light of course ;) ) before bed for a protein boost. Hope it helps ya :) Have a great day and keep up the awesome work :D

Hi ladies!
Well, I did have a bowl of cheerios before dinner and I did end up with a sick kiddo in my bed. Ugh! I will try the hi proteins at dinner method, BB.

Truly, I've given myself one year to lose 40 lbs. and I have opted not to do a method or even count calories (although I'm going to start if my year deadline approaches and I'm not close to losing 40). I just looked at my life and realized that I'm always going to have to cook for these kids and this man so I'd better just do it smarter and eat less of it. That's why I eat lo-cal lunch and breakfast and whatever I cooked for my family for dinner. I did, of course, stop serving things like Fish -n-Chips (our favorite!!!) and we don't eat AS MUCH pizza, but we do splurge once a month. It's not scientific, but it's worked for the first 21 lbs. and I'm hoping that it continues to work so I can lose 19 more. (Please please please!!!)

*******

So here's the food for today so far...

B: My standard that I eat every day!!! (Kashi and coffee)

L: A smoothie w/ fat-burner boost (330 calories)
Soy chips

Sn: Apple; Quakes!! (Not without thinking of my fellow Quake lovers!)

Dinner: Not sure. My mom is hosting the family for my dad's 76th bday. But rest-assured, she is the world's healthiest cook and serves small servings so I'll be ok! I'll avoid the bread, alcohol, appetizers, and I'm not much into dessert.

Besides that, I drank a lot of water like 78 so far today.

Exercise was awesome! I ran a mile on the treadmill at an incline and did an hour of cycle/spin at full-barrell. I was dripping by the end! Yay!!

Great job, MO2 (hehehehe). How was the b-day party for your dad? Hope all is well in your world and your sick 'un gets better soon. Keep up the good work. :D

Hi all!
Dad's party was great. He's so old though: 76! It's kind of depressing. I hope he stays healthy for a long time to come. He's getting a bit weird, but I guess he's ok. I ate no roll or alcohol. The meal was prime rib, oven roasted potatoes, and steamed brocolli, oh and salad. I was good! Took it easy. I was even hungry when I went to bed.

Here's today:

B: Same as always

L: 1/2 apple; leftover roast beef & rice & vegies

S: Iced tea (unsweetened) and 8 caramel quakes

D: Leftover prime rib, potatoes, and broccoli; diet root beer

No exercise other than a 20 or so minute walk. Might have even been 30 min. Very brisk, though, LOL!

Oh and tons of water.

Good morning to you! :) Glad to hear you did so well at the party! :) AH yes.. aging parents, it can be a little disconcerting.. My father is only 63, but still.. it just hits you one day, that they're getting older!

So how is your little one feeling now? back to 100% yet? I hope so!! Have a great week!!

Mornin' MO2 :D 76 is not old!!! LOL My mama and daddy are 51 and 53, hubby's parents are 72ish and 71ish (not exactly sure but early 70's) :D Great job at the party! Sounds delish! Is the sick 'un getting better? Hope all is well in your world today. Keep up the good work. :D
