A new beginning...

For some reason, I didn't find soda that hard to give up. I guess because I never really drank a lot of soda in the first place. When I was a kid, I actually hated soda and would never drink it! Last week, I had to get a soda right before class because they were out of the bottled water. It was sprite, which is something that I used to drink sometimes, but I could barely stand to drink half the can. Maybe y'all will start feeling like that soon! :D

Hiya guys!! Thanks MJ on my humps!!! lol, i think its the pants that make them look deceivingly small, but hey I'll take it!!! :D

LMAO! You're too funny. I love pants like that. I have a few too. Everytime I wear them people comment on how much weight I've lost. I just laugh.

But you are looking small! Pants or no pants, you can't hide a big o booty!

Good job!

yep... soda is an evil addiction. I was trying to quit diet soda altogether, and then drinking regular soda is hard tos wallow cause all the calories it adds!! So I only did that on my cheat day. So.. no diet soda this week anymore either. :) Wish me luck..and thanks for the uplifting words you guys keep adding. I really do appreciate it. Its been a icky day at work on top of my morning weigh-in and this just really picks me up to finish the day!
Despite what I said earlier, I have the same problem with soda (though I call it pop ;)). For the most part, I'm okay with not having any, but sometimes, I just need the caffine for an extra kick!

Also, MJ, I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you: it is very hard to hide a large behind without any pants!! :D

Hey sweetie! You posted in my diary about the temps lately.. Today's high was 38 here! I'm ready for the Spring time!! Dont beat yourself up over weighing in.. It is probley just water weight or something.. and I'm sure you will lose it as quickly as it came.. One time I weighed myself two day's in a row and in the same clothes at the same time.. and It showed I had lost 4 lbs then the day before.. Just keep going.. Dont give up (like I did) your doing awesome!!

Hi ya NewLeaf :D I did the same thing last week! LOL Suck down that water and reduce your sodium and you will see it all go bye-bye real soon :D Don't let it trash your day/ night. Hope all is well with you and yours. Keep up the good work :)

Hi guys! Thanks for the supportive words. :) I really appreciate it!! ;) So as many of you know I had an appointment with my trainer tonight. So I hope when I give my low down that maybe it will help any others that might be in a slump or slow spot.

First off.. the bad news:
When I first started the gym I was at a certain weight, I think 155lbs, this was way back in November, but then I gained I guess from the holidays or what not and was at 163lbs. So with all my nice hard work since I joined this forum etc, I've gotten my weight back down to 154lbs. I also discovered that I was not working at my target heart rate. Honestly I hadn't paid that much attention and thought I was working hard, but then I discovered I hadn't changed my level of difficulty much from when I first started.

Now the good news:
We revamped my cardio and weights! So, my cardio level now is bumped from 6 to a level 9 .. ACK! I forget I have pretty strong legs, so I really have to push myself on the bike. She also changed up my weights, which is exciting because it won't be so bland now that I have to get used the new routine! So.. the over all good news is, I increased my fitness level and now that i'm increasing the difficulty again, I will see some results pretty soon I think. :) YAY!!! So.. I am excited to see by next Monday weigh in at. :) Wish me luck girls.. .Hope this helps you guys out. Working out in your target heart rate really is key.. :)

Woo hoo! Its always great to learn that you're doing a lot better than you thought! Work that body!

Just for giggles, I weighed myself before my workout once, and then after, and after the workout it was two lbs higher....weird... I don't do that anymore, I just get discouraged, lol. I try to go up in my cardio level by one every week, and tonight on the eliptical I tried at level 20  are there actually people who go at this level?!?! it was crazy hard, felt like I was walking thru cement...didn't care for it :) As for pop- hope your craving for it goes away soon, I never really was a big pop drinker, so it wasn't hard for me to not have it :) Keep up the great job :)

Wow.. so many people checked in on me last night/this morning. Thanks you guys!! ;) I just love logging on here frequently to see who's written in my diary, who will get me through the rest of the day.!! :) Thank you so much all of you.

Jess: isn't it amazing, that you weigh MORE after a work out? Even though you think you lose all that water from sweating. I just don't get it. :) I think I'll have to ask a trainer one of these days.

Good news:
My weight is back to 154.5 this morning (before my workout!), so yahoo.. thanks for allt he supportive advice about the salt and soda!! :D

Thoughts for today: I'm zonked this morning I have to confess. I think this new cardio is going to kick my butt for the first little while. My trainer did recommend taking a good look and reviewing things in 2 weeks w/ my cardio. Making sure I'm still in my target heart range or making things "more difficult" (i.e. upping the speed or intensity level) to be sure I'm in the right range.

I wonder if I should be doing a session of 60 minute cardo and then weights after work. I only have time for an hour at the gym in the mornings. So I squeeze in as much cardio as I can while still fitting in my weights. So.. have to ponder that one.

Now I have kind of a weird question, hoping someone else might know what this means. I'm very light skinned, w/ pink undertone.s When my heart rate gets up and I get warm, my skin tone, turns red/pinkish. I've never thought much of this, as its always been this way. Even when I get mad or upset, I always change shades. But, last night when I was working out, my trainer asked if my legs itched when they "got red from doing cardio". I said they never have and she just says "Hmm" and kind of has an odd look on her face and says nothing else.

Uh does this mean something? Is it bad circulation or something that I turn red? No idea what to think of that. Weird! Any ideas?

as a lady who is also "pink" Dont worry! My legs go from purple to red especially when Im working out in the cold. Olive skinned people just dont show it like we do. so quite the contrary, it means your circulation is GOOD! Just like the doctor looking for that pinkness ina newborn baby...better than blue!!

Im sure proud of your hard work, and I know you are too. You are really doing fantastic!!

Hi ya Kate! Thank you for updating me on the "pinky syndrome"! She had me a bit baffled by her reaction. I know itchiness included with the red might indicate a symptom or two (heat rash for instance) but, phew! Glad that's not a concern. ;) Also glad to know I have a fellow pink-ster on here too!

Thanks regarding my hard work. I have to say I am pretty proud that I am sticking with it and still going fairly strong. :) Although this morning. I desperately want a nap!! :D

Yeah when I walk home from the mall at night, my thighs are usually somewhere between red and purple too! It just means the blood is flowing extra hard to get the oxygen in (or at least I would think so)

You're doing great with kicking up your exercise, I can't wait to see the excellent progress you'll make this week :D

I'm light-skinned and pinkish. My face turns absolutely red during kickboxing and Cycle/spin. The teacher always asks me if I'm dying. I think it's just a light-skinned thing. I've never notice my legs, but I wear capri pants. I assume they're the same way.

Is there a way to combine cardio and weights in one work-out? Both of my teachers integrate weights w/in the hour and it is a really nice workout.

Beagle, thanks! :) I can't wait either!!

M02: Y'know, I hadn't thought of that, but since I use machines and the weights are pretty thorough I think that it needs to be seperate. But I figure if I can squeeze in 45 minutes of cardio, 15 minutes of weights, I'll beo k. I MIGHT be able to do my showering at the gym & swing by to pick up my FH for the drive to work. That might allow me more time at the gym. Ooor I could just stop working. :D lol!!!

Totallyscrappy: Awwww. thank you so much, that is so sweet!!

hi newleaf - congrats on the loss!

i go BRIGHT pink after a cardio workout - i find it quite embarrassing, but i guess its just my face, whatcanyado :)

i'm hoping that maybe after a few more months it will improve, but i kind of doubt it. its one reason why i don't exercise much (other than a walk) at lunch time - i go back to work and everyone thinks i'm about to keel over!

 Got off to page 2, how'd that happen!?! :D Ok..so back at it.

Ok today turned into my cheat day for the week!!! Thats it! Gotta be good from here on out!

Food for thought:
So, I don't know if I'm coming down with a bug/virus or if I am just burning out mentally but the gym was not good this morning. I just could not take the elliptical anymore than 10 minutes at the level 8. It wasn't like I was dying, I just couldn't stand to stay on it any longer. The bike, seemed almost equally as bad. My legs were sore. Anyhow.. I still got at least a total of 30 minutes in, huffin n' puffin. Did my upper body weights. The new routine is nice. I'm just I feel tired and drained. I felt this way yesterday and last night. Work is not my favorite place right now. So I'm trying not to eat out of stress from that. I went up to FH last night and said "I need a hug!" He kind of looked at me funny, gave me a hug. And I said, "I'm hugging you, I'm not eating." I could of really used a big bowl of ice cream, but I got a hug instead. Its a step..

I shouldn't really whine about my occupation. Its not that stressful, its not physically difficult, its just mentally.. ah, I'd rather be a million other places. Then again don't we all feel that way. FH Is very encouraging for me to find something else. I've debated going back to school, obtaining a masters or a degree in another field. I"m even toying with dietics. Problem being is no place close to here offers the courses. And a commute is not so bad, but I need to be able to work and bring in income.. Somebody has to pay the other half of the mortgage. :D So.. we will see. So for now.. just trying to find the pick me up to get me through today. I'm trying to take a personal day tomorrow. I Just need a mental break from this place. WIsh me luck ladies..

Sorry I've been slacking in getting to everyone's journals.. I'm going to hopefully get to them all this morning! ;)
