A little different

Just wondering...

Does anyone exercise for pure fun? Or eat veggies because you enjoy the flavor? Or skip a meal once in a while simply 'cause you're not hungry?

Maybe this is the wrong place for that kind of question...I've just been thinking about it because I have a few friends who want to lose weight and are exercising, dieting etc but once they lose the pounds then they go back to their normal life...and eating healthy/working out is like a burdensome chore to them...so when some of my friends see me drinking organic vegetable and root juices, working out 3 hours a day they wonder why I'm so insecure but really I'm not at all...just enjoying life!

So if there's anyone else like me...I'd love to meet you, I mean here. :)

Thanks!!

I love vegetables. I would rather eat veggies all day than have a cheeseburger and fries anytime. Now I do enjoy a big steak dinner once in a while but more often than not I;m digging in the salad. I used to love working out but it got harder to do when my kids started walking and they came with me but once they are all in school yeah I'll probably be there every day just because it makes me feel great after for the rest of the day.

Awesome! Happy to know I'm not the only one :p
I know it's a lot easier for those trying to lose weight if they already enjoy eating things that are good for them and working out isn't a pain. Do you try to eat well/ exercise daily? I love to, after school is done. I also love making my own juices...my mom bought a champion juicer and was into medicinal herbs so we have a huge garden and go out to harvest nettle and comfrey and mullen etc each year. Pretty fun actually ;)

hehe, about the kids walking with you, I know what you mean! My mom's walks went a lot slower too, when my brother and I would tag along. We wanted to stop and look at every any hill, every little rock...smell all the pretty flowers... ;)
But so long as you still enjoy life, I think that's the thing you mainly have to worry about...even someone with the "perfect" body...if they don't enjoy life how happy are they going to be, you know?

:)

i wouldn't say i exercise for pure fun...although i enjoy how i feel after a workout, i'm a lot less stressed out compared to if i skip the gym for a few days, and i've made a lot of new friends that work at the gym or just work out there. so exercise is definately a plus for me, i'd say.

i do enjoy veggies, but then again, i always have. when i was younger, my nana and my parents wouldn't let us leave the table until we cleared our plates, including the vegetables. although i complained about it then (what kid doesn't?), i normally do not eat a meal without a vegetable because it doesn't feel right or complete without it.

i don't really skip a meal because i'm not hungry...i moreso skip it because i get busy doing something and don't feel hungry, so i forget to eat. then my stomach starts growling and i remember that i worked through my snack and try to play catch up. although sometimes if i'm out and about on the weekends, i skip my snacks, even though i normally pack a bottle of water and snack in my purse...i just don't feel like eating it when no one else is eating. or i don't wanna share it :) ha

'Don't wanna share the snack' .... haha that's great. I mean it reminds me of myself sometimes. But you know, the solution to that is bring a snack you know no one else will eat. Like if I bring celery sticks to park where some of us are going hiking, I don't have to worry that anyone will take them - they'd be more than delighted for me to eat every last little stringy piece...except for my one friend Mark who chew celery strings in place of bubble gum. That's just one thing I don't think I could substitute, haha.

Oh that's good you can make friends at the gym...I've noticed my working out is a lot more enjoyable when I have someone to work alongside me, challenge me etc. And I would have to agree, exercise is not always out of pure fun. My last martial class was near torture, I really didn't want to go at all, and being the only student there I had a ton of stuff to do and I thought I was going to die, lol. But afterwords I was so happy I went, as you said it gives me a lot of energy, I really love that.

By the way...I really like your signature. :)
It's a lot like what I tell the students in our dojo when I lead the kids class...'I don't expect you to do 1000 push ups perfectly - but do try to get as many as you can - the more you practice the better you'll become so don't think just because you can't do all 1000 now that you're a failure' and as our main instructor says "I would rather you do one really good push up that 100 partially good ones with no effort."

Okay...since sleep is part of being healthy and staying such, I'm going to say goodnight now. :)

ps - familyweese, have you ever had dandelion salad? My friend Rebecca thinks it's just awesome but I think they are just too bitter. I love grapefruit though! Hope you enjoyed the walk ;)

I don't mind the diet at all. In fact, I would keep eating this way long after I lost the weight I want to lose. I keep my diet as satisfying as possible. I love eating healthy foods, I always feel sick after eating junk food.

As for exercise, I'm way too lazy, but I don't mind doing it and I feel good after doing it. I like taking long walks, but I really am trying to motivate myself to do it more frequently.

Eh as I matured, my quest for new and better flavors did too. Luckily, that moved in the way of vegetables (cooked in a variety of fashions, or just raw), meats, water and wine.

I rarely eat fast food (I really can say that I no longer find the taste as good as I used to, or maybe it's because I'm comparing it to the wonderful foods I make on a daily basis).

Either way, your friends need to make small, lifestyle changes that will stick with. I did that, and I got a bit carried away I guess. I effing love vegetables!@

I love creating dishes and trying new recipes, almost all of which involve some sort of vegetable. My only problem is trying not to eat too much of it. And I only choose activities that I like to do. Otherwise I know I won't stick with it. Thats how I strive to live my life. Do things I want to do, and eat things I want to eat (luckily those things are good for me).

Well I danced for 12 1/2 years, and I'd say that helped keep me in "better" shape. Dancing was tons of fun! I miss it.

I was a strange child....I loved my green beans, asparagus, broccoli, brussel sprouts, Mushrooms, Turnips, Spinach,Beets ( you name it, I would eat it and still do) and ESPECIALLY OLIVES!!! MMMM Olives :drool5::drool5::drool5: I am craving radishes.

I am looking forward to my run this morning. It feels sooo much better afterwards.

Although I am still trying hard to "enjoy" life.
