a little bit of this and that

you might want to get off your high horse and spend some time around this forum.. and actually reading people's stories... you'llfind very few people complaining that they can't lose weight - for any reason other than what they are putting into their mouths...

Spend some time reading aroudn the forum -the stickied threads contain a lot of good information that you might actually benefit from as well

I would venture to say that there are more people on this forum that have done alot more amazing things than you. You seem to think that because you have actually lost a little weight you have done something that is beyond the capabilities of other mere humans. There are people on here that have lost many many times what you have and under difficult circumstances.
You have given the impression of someone who has chopped down a bush then run up to a bunch of lumberjacks bragging about how you have done what they cannot. You might want to look around at who you are talking to before you fall off your soapbox and hurt yourself.

sort of an encouragement to those still finding ways to lose weight.

Um, yeah, that was certainly very... encouraging. I can see you have a glorious career as a motivational writer ahead of you. Or something like that.

Good job on losing 43 pounds in 8 months! Of course, you probably could have done better - I know I lost 70 pounds in that same amount of time. To encourage you to keep on track, I'll tell you how I did it. First, I didn't have a gym membership, and didn't force myself to exercise - in fact, for the first 4 months, I didn't exercise at all! I certainly didn't eliminate fast food, and regularly ate at the local Chinese buffet.

Now wasn't that encouraging? Don't you feel motivated to go out and do better? :)

This is your first post here and THIS is how you introduce yourself. Amazing.

Almost everyone here KNOWS what it takes to lose weight and if "it is not working" then they know that they are not actually doing it.

Thanks for your un-enlightening rant. Do you feel better now?

I must add that I usually do not even respond to posts like this, but I am just mystified how someone who has admittedly struggled with weight-loss could come on a site such as this one and be such a butt-head.

At the beginning of this year I was exactly 235lbs, right now I am at 192 lbs (as of 5 mins ago).
Well done for losing a little bit of weight - 43 pounds a few minutes ago. Many of us have lost a lot more weight than that - but do not go around preaching that we have done what no-one else has managed. Mal - who replied earlier has lost about 200 pounds - but you do not see her making out that anyone who has done less just didnt try but stood around bitching!

If - as has been suggested by others - you had read around the forum a bit you would have found that it isnt the kind of place that people stand about bitching instead of working hard. If the people at the gym that you chose to join treat it as a social club - then those are the people that you should preach to. Some gyms are that type of place!

The following quotes from your own posting are good advice for yourself. You should try to not let your mouth run off before you know what you are talking about and whether you are likely to be making an appropriate point regarding the audience.
the last time I actually shut my mouth
Think about that one for a while before you let your mouth run off.

I am available at all times to encourage and give tips on weight loss and nutrition for a healthy work out.
I hope that your words of encouragement are not done in such a bragging and preaching manner. There are people here that benefit from encouragement - but that is not to say that they just need to be told to get off their fat bottoms and do some work.
