A goal without a plan is just a wish...

Peanut butter and banana smoothy sounds amazing!! I still can't have peanut butter in the house because I have no control over eating with a spoon straight out of the jar!! I hear you on the protein thing though!! I've been packing my egg whites to get that up too! We want to be strong!
I tried running at 7mph on the treadmill the other day and only lasted a minute - I'm going to work up to a mile so I can be as good as you! I love it that you push me to try harder. My hunnie and I were talking about hobbies - his are jamming with friends, playing drums, hockey, etc. and I think my #1 hobby is exercising. I just wish I had more friends who were interested in it like I am and could push me further. Like going on hikes on the weekend or running or even biking. I should join one of those running clinics and find more people interested in what I am. anyway just wanted to say thanks for pushing me even though we can't do it together! Have a great day!

Way to jump back on the wagon! I can't envision myself every stopping my calorie tracking obsession now that I have started it lol. You look awesome and I am sure you will start seeing the weight drop off again soon. Seriously though, you are killing me with the deep friend mac and cheese post :drool5:. Ugh! It won't put my drool smiley in there.

Trust me, I really don't have much control over peanut butter either! I swear I go through a jar a week practically! Exercising IS your hobby! I too wish that I had more friends that were into it like me, or would want to go work out longer than just 20 minutes on an elliptical! My roommate came with me the other day and said, "If I worked out with you all the time I'd be ripped!" LOL and you should totally fine a running clinic. I still have to check out the running club at my school! And thank YOU for pushing me as well! You're a total motivational factor for me!

Morning workout DAY 1: Completed! Thought of u as I ran my ass off!! LOL!!

LOL good job! Aren't morning workouts the greatest!? At least it's out of the way for the day and you don't have to feel bad for yourself later when you get too lazy to do it!

Trust me, I was OBSESSED with calorie counting when I started! I think I stopped tracking partly because I had a general idea of the calories I was eating and what types of food to eat to stay low cal... but then I just stopped thinking about them overall and starting eating whatever! I'm happy to be on track with the counting now. I can't even THINK about the calories in that deep fried mac n cheese! UGH :ack2:

_______

So last night I starting feeling a sore throat coming on. I took some medicine and went to bed early. Woke up with a really dry, itchy throat and a cough :( DAMN! I still got up to work out but I decided not to run today. Here is what I did:
- 2 min walk warm up
- 5 min walk incline
- 40 kettle bell swings
- 5 min walk incline
- 40 kettle bell swings
- 5 min walk incline
- 40 kettle bell swings
- 5 min walk incline
- 3 min walk cool down

I liked hopping off the treadmill to get the kettle bell swings in so I wasn't so bored just walking the whole time! I got a pretty good workout but I wish I could have ran!

Right now I'm at exactly 1,000 calories for the day... this leaves me 400 still! I'm not going to eat all 400 but I'm glad I have room for dessert! OH and yesterday I kept my calories close to 1,200 so that's good too! I'm really hoping for a good loss this week. I've also started drinking tea! Yesterday I filled up a cup of ice water with a little bit of lemonade mix (0 calorie, 0 carb, 0 sugar) and then put a bag of cranberry pomegranate tea in it and it was DELICIOUS!! Definitely recommend that for new tea-drinkers or people that like their tea sweet! :)

Day 4 morning workout complete :) I ran a mile on the treadmill and wanted to run more but I couldn't - it was so hard to breathe and I've been hacking up flem all morning. So I walked it out to 15 minutes, then got on the bike for 15 minutes. I worked my arms pretty good - dumbbell bench press (3x8) dumbbell fly's (3X8) 3 way dumbbell rise (3x6) and biceps curls (3x10). Finished up with abs and a stretch!

I'm at 445 calories for the day which includes the snack before the gym and my breakfast. Also I ended yesterday at 1,220 calories. I'm surprised I'm not having trouble trying to stay under 1,400! Go me!

Hopefully tomorrow's weigh in will be good. I'm not sure though as last weekend I had a bad day with eating on Friday and a lot of drinking on Saturday... also bad eating on Sunday.. so I'm sure I packed on the pounds over the weekend. Even if I don't see 135 I feel really great that I'm back on track with my diet and exercise!

so I just had to come confess... I had a little binge. I was doing fine until I got home and found the cookie jar. Ate four cookies!!! They were pretty thin and small so I don't think they were too high in calories but still... Then I get to work and it's soooo slow... All I can think about is food! I got a bag of doritos from the snack box. Tried so hard not to buy chocolate from it too. I even tried having a mint to get rid of the craving but it didn't work.. I bought recess peanut butter cups! Ate both of them... 210 calories, and the doritos were 250... The cookies were probably 180... So that's almost 700 calories in junk food alone!!! UGH why did I do that?! I want to blame the pms but I shouldn't. I've done really good all week. Well I can't go back and undo what I did so I guess if tomorrows weigh in goes bad I know why! I really wish they would get rid of that stupid snack box in the break room here at work!!!!

139 lbs.

What the hell?!
I was supposed to LOSE 2 pounds, not GAIN 2! Wow. I am so disappointed. I don't even know what to say... well I guess it's time to get on the treadmill...

Wow I totally feel your frustration! Sometimes the scale just sucks!! Really don't be that hard on yourself though because like you said in the post above you are feeling better and YOU ARE getting back on track - one little slip and it wasn't that bad - probably just water weight this morning. 700 calories can totally be burned in ONE really good workout! Don't give up and let's rock it again this week - improve where we messed up. I wasn't that great last weekend either but it's getting better and this weekend I plan to do even better - one day at a time! If you would have gone out drinking and had a snack when you got home it would have been roughly the same amount of calories so just try to not do that this weekend to make up for it. You for sure didn't gain 2 pounds - I would try and rock it today and water, water, water and try again on the scale tomorrow. Have a great weekend and just think where you want to be next Friday and use that to fuel you this weekend! I know you can do it! Have a good one!

Thank you so much for your support Lisa! I'm so glad to have you here. I'm hoping it's just water weight! I'd love to say I'm staying away from the alochol this weekend, but I made plans a few weeks ago to make a trip up to my university from last year to visit my friends and all there is to do there is drink! But I have made myself a rule that I'm only allowing myself one night of drinking a week (really gonna try to not drink as much as possible). I'm going to drink a LOT of water today and try the scale again tomorrow possibly.

ALSO, I'm going to try weight watchers! I'm not sure that I'm going to go visit the actual locations because I have the manual and points slider card at home already. I already added my breakfast up - oatmeal (3 pts) and a banana (2 pts). My activity points (2 pts) so really I'm at only 3 points for the day so far!

I went for a 3.5 mile run outside this morning and it was GREAT! I feel a lot better. I did a lot of thinking on my run and I thought of maybe staying away from the scale for a while - like a LONG while. Not weighing myself til the end of May. I think it's kind of stressing me out worrying so much about the number and it could even be affecting my weight.

I feel good, I like the way I'm looking, and I only want to improve from here! So tomorrow I declare my official "starting weight" for the beginning of my weight watchers journey! Then from there... we'll see if I can hold off from the scale til the end of May!

That's awesome that you are going to track the points! How many points did you figure out you are allowed? I'm at 19 right now and find it doesn't leave much room for snacks. I try to make my breakfast and lunch lower because I love dinner and always eat more points at that meal plus evening snacks.
Regarding the scale - do it if you think it will help! For me I need the weekly accountability to stay on track but if you can do it without - all the more power to you!!! That will be a really good test! Are you going to take measurements during that time?

Hi Sara

I can totaly feel your frustration! I did more walking this week and I worked out and ate ok then last night I had Doritos too damn those salty things, you weight gain could be water. I am also doing weight watchers on my own it's doable I use this site as my group support and it keeps me accountable too. Good luck and I am sure you will do great!

I wasn't sure how to figure out the points.. since it's says 150lbs and under is 18-25 so I think I'll aim for 20? I ended the day with 21 (after activity points) and I feel like I ate NOTHING compared to how much I eat when counting calories! No wonder weight watchers works better... lol I also feel more picky about what I eat cuz it's not JUST about calories... it's about fat and fiber too so that helps. I haven't taken measurements in a while but I will soon! Last time I did they hadn't changed...

I didn't know you were doing weight watchers on your own! Maybe I did but I forgot or something. That is cool though. Damn doritos! they are evil I tell ya! Thanks for the support I'm excited to start counting my points!!!

______

Day one using weight watchers plan was a success! The range of points I'm allowed is 18-25 so I'm aiming for about 20. I also got 2 points for my activity today so I ended with 21 points all together. Here is what I ate:

Oatmeal
Banana

Peanut butter sandwich
Grapes
String cheese
Almonds
Fiber One bar

Salad
Chicken

And that was it! :) It seemed to me that I could probably eat more if I were counting calories (I usually eat more than that) so maybe this is going to help me out! I like it a lot so far and I'm excited to see if it works out. I will weigh myself tomorrow morning for my official starting weight on weight watchers!

Way to go on ditching the scale for awhile! The scale is GARBAGE! :) You bust your ass all week and then it makes you feel like shit or you have a crappy day but then YOU LOSE weight and suddenly feel like you did good even though you didn't. AHHHH! I'm weighing in on Monday and then not stepping on the scale until May 30th.

I know I don't post in here too often, but I still check on your progress everyday, so keep on rocking!

Thanks for still checking up on me! I agree that the scale is total bull! You can feel so good about what you're doing and how you look/feel and then the scale doesn't match up with it. So here we go - no scale til the day before the half marathon!

Had a great weekend! I had a really nice time visiting my friends and we partied pretty hard :p Of course everyone wanted pizza (not my idea!) so they ordered some at the end of the night and I shared with them. UGH. But I didn't feel bad about it. I got home and went back to tracking my points! And I stayed within my range :)

I did some grocery shopping last night and got a bunch of new stuff I'm really excited to try. Here are some things I bought and the points value according the serving size:

- Almond Milk 2pts
- Tofu noodles 0pts
- Smart Dogs (veggie protein links) 1pt
- Cranberry Pomegranate Green Tea 0pts
- Light sun-dried tomato flat bread 1pt
- Whole wheat Sandwich Thins 1pt
- Sugar free Jell-O cups 0pts
- Greek yogurt 3pts
- Multigrain crackers 1pt
- Pizza flavored hummus (SO DELICIOUS!) 0.5pts

So it looks like I did pretty good! I'm going to try out the tofu noodles tonight and make spaghetti with them. I heard of them from Sarah Dussault from sarahfit.com. She makes videos and has a YouTube channel as well, you should check her out! She does "grocery store hauls" which is where I got the idea of almond milk and greek yogurt as well.

Today I had a Fiber One bar before the gym (3pts) and for breakfast I just had an egg with cheese on an english muffin (5pts) and a cup of almond milk (2pts). I earned 5 activity points this morning from the gym, so my total points for the day are at 5 right now. I did 40 minutes treadmill, 10 minutes strength training, and 10 minutes abs/stretch.

Looking forward to a great week! Also, NO WEIGH IN TIL MAY 30TH, THE DAY BEFORE THE HALF MARATHON! I hope I don't cheat!!!

It looks like you are all prepared for the week...I used to do that too and I used to get better results, I will have to start doing that again!!!! I have been looking for almond milk cause it sound like it would be good but I can't find it anywhere, I am gonna have to find those tofu noodles too never heard of them, sounds like it would be good!!! Spaghetti squash is also a good replacement for pasta and since it's a vegetable it's low in point value too!!! The pomegranate tea is sooo good!! Enought with food I am starting to be hundry and it's not even lunch time yiet!!!! Have a great week!

I found the almond milk in the cereal isle at the grocery store - it was in a section with soy milk and rice milk close to the organic cereals!

The tofu noodles I found next to the bagged salad at the store where everything is refrigerated.. here is an article about the noodles and how they are great for weight loss!

Thank you!! I will have to try those noodles!!!!

OK - So yesterday was a good day up until I finished my dinner. I had a sugar attack. I ate probably 3 cups of cereal, no lie!!! Thank god I had the control to stop after that (where was my control to begin with?) So I got up this morning an hour earlier to get to the gym to workout HARD.

Well, that failed.

I still woke up on time and left early, but the gym didn't even OPEN for another 20 minutes after I got there!!! Grrr. Then as I was running, I started feeling my blister on the bottom of my foot getting bigger (I had a small blister on the inside arch of my foot yesterday after my run) so I had to stop. I still went 2.6 miles though. I also did some strength training (dumbbell bench press, dumbbell flys, biceps curls, squat and press) and my abs routine (40 regular, 20 bicycles, 40 left side, 20 bicycles, 40 right side, 20 bicycles, 40 laying flat) and leg circles. I earned 4 activity points for the day.

For breakfast I had a bowl of oatmeal (2pts) and a mango banana smoothie (4pts) so I'm sitting at 2pts right now after subtracting 4 for activity this morning.

I promise, no sugar attack today!!!

~ Sarah

Sorry I haven't been around yet this week - I hope to change that tomorrow! I'm just leaving work to head home and regroup - just started this week on the wrong foot and need some time to get myself together - tomorrow I will be back and will have time to catch up and write a better message. Keep it up - looking good with tracking those points so far!
