A diary I'll actually keep.

I'm normally terrible with diaries, but any way I can make sure I feel accountable for my exercise/eating, I'll take. I've lost 3 pounds in 2 weeks, and I want to see the scale keep moving down :)

So, I started this morning with water, then my 35 minutes of step aerobics. Then after getting ready, walked to the bus stop (10 minutes) while drinking a slim fast.

For lunch, I had PB&J (natural peanut butter, whole wheat bread), some reduced fat wheat thins, cottage cheese and pineapple, and I splurged with a cookie.

Dinner will probably be meatloaf, noodles, and broccoli.
Oh, and plenty of water (I've already had at least 42oz)

I did drink my water yesterday, and dinner was as planned, but I added in snack--a homemade pretzel with sesame seeds instead of salt.

As for this morning, I did my dance aerobics video (45 minutes) and my total body strength training for another half hour. I'm starting to feel less out of shape.

Breakfast will be pop tarts and a glass of skim milk (I know, pop tarts, but they're not frosted, though why people want frosted pop tarts to begin with is beyond me). Then, shower and up to dance practice for about 3 hours or so. I'll probably bring an apple and try to eat that somewhere. And of course my water. :)

Note: technically my poptarts are second breakfast (I feel like a Hobbit). I had a serving of peanuts before I did the aerobics and such. My weekend schedule is so off, since I don't drag myself out of bed until 10 or 11.

Sounds like you're off to a great start! I admire you so much for being able to just eat a serving of peanuts - they're one of my (many) food weaknesses.

Awesome exercise, too. Keep it up!

Ah, now I can use my laptop, now that my lap has been vacated.:) My kitty was under the blankeet on my lap.

Thanks, Champ. And I hear you--it's definitely hard to just eat a serving of peanuts. I try to eat them slowly and keep track of how many I've eaten.

So, the boring part of my diary-for dinner I had meatloaf, broccoli, and noodles (sound familiar). Yeah, I"m one of those people who, living alone, cooks one night, then eats leftovers the next night (and sometimes the night after that, depending on what I've made). So tonight was night 2 for my meatloaf.

I also had a glass of orange juice and will credit myself with 2.5 hours of dancing from my 3 hour practice (the rest being talking, water breaks, etc.)

Unfortunately, I see myself having a cookie and a glass or milk later, but today was an active day, so I think I deserve it (and it's only going to be 1 cookie, not 3 or 4)

Hi HoneyBunch,
Just wanted to welcome you to your new diary and to the WLF :)

Hope you have a good weekend!

Hi Honeybunch! Just stopping by to say welcome to the forum, and that you're off to a great start!

I know what you're talking about with eating leftovers, With 7 people in my house, we always make TONS of food, and oftentimes, food is left for people to eat into the next week! :D

Keep up the great work!

So far, I'm keeping up with this. We'll see if it lasts.

I did my body fusion video this morning (step aerobics and weight/strength training) and feel exhausted. It's the second time I've done the video, and I'm still figuring out some of the steps. Still, I know it's doing a lot for me. And I have a cheering section. Whenever I exercise the cat likes to come and watch (while probably thinking "Crazy Mommy, that looks like too much work"). It's the audience I don't have to feel self-concious in front of. :p

As soon as I finish this, breakfast will be cheerios & skim milk, added on to the serving of peanuts I had. I'm going to try and keep calories low during the day today (Maybe a salad in the afternoon & some fruit) since it's my friends birthday, and he's having a party later (meaning probably pizza, and not my homemade pizza, which I have to believe is better for me).

And, because I'm me, I'll make a cake. The good thing is, it's a birthday cake, which means there will be plenty of other people to eat it. I'll just have to be really good the rest of the week to make up for today.

Well, it could have been worse. I ate a piece of pepperoni & Pineapple pizza, 3 boneless wings, about 4 small french fries, 3 onion rings, small piece (1/16th of a cake) black forest cake, piece (1/12 or less) german chocolate cake, an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie, and about 3/4 of a cup of grapes.

Which, amazingly, with the other things I ate today, amounts to a grand total of somewhere between 1950 and 2150 calories for the day(2 programs, different results). Not great, and it might be boosted another 100 calories for whatever I might have forgotten but not as terrible as I had feared. Of course, most of my dinner hour foods weren't particularly healthy (I did have the grapes, and a few strips of celery, so I'm allowed to say most instead of all), but I thought it would be so much worse.

Oh, and I did play a few rounds of DDR, so I worked of a little (I know, very funny--it probably didn't make a dent-especially since I'm so bad at it--but it's only my second time).

Now, I just need to find other people to help me finish off the half a cake I have left. Who knew 2 other people would bring cake.:(

Anyway, off to bed, so I can wake up for my morning workout, go to work, then take the cat to the vet. You can tell he's excited (note the sarcasm)

Well, I missed yesterday, but I don't think I did too badly.

Started the morning with step aerobics, then slim fast for breakfast, banana midmorning, cottage cheese & pineapple, PB&J (on whole wheat bread with my exciting natural peanut butter) and reduced fat wheat thin veggie crisps (1 serving), then chicken sausage, cheese ravioli, and a garden style pasta sauce from a jar for dinner. And I think there was one of my homemade soft pretzels in there somewhere. I deserved it, since the cat went to the vet.

Today, dance based aerobics (on the floor), slim fast on the way to work, banana midmorning, Progresso Minestrone soup (the whole can so about 200 calories), then probably pasta, more chicken sausage & sauce tonight (and if I have enough time before I have to go out for dancing, a salad)

On a positive note, the hill I walk up on my way to work is becoming a breeze. I used to stop for a second once or twice on the way up, but now I just breeze up to the top.:D

Last night I danced (Good:) ), but then I came home and had a piece of cake and a glass of milk (Bad:( )

No more cake until at least Saturday.

I did my step aerobics this morning, so I can feel better about myself. And hopefully I'll have a good next two days (especially since, given when I get home Wednesday night, I don't exercise Thursday mornings), since Friday is when I weigh myself. Please don't let it go up.

Breakfast will be slimfast, lunch is my PB&J, cottage cheese & pineapple, and wheat thin veggie crisps.

Dinner is likely to be more pasta & chicken sausage (yesterdays leftovers). I'll definitely be home long enough to have a salad tonight, too (last night I failed).

Don't you just love parenthesis (can't you tell I do:p )

Off to the shower.

I have a question. How does the natural PB&J taste? Can you compare it to other PB and what kind of Jelly do you use?

It sounds like you are doing a great job with the exercise and the dance part. Maybe I missed reading somewhere, but what is your goal and current weight?

Photocrazed
I was actually introduced to the natural Peanut butter years ago by a friend who loves it. They stuff you buy in the store tastes pretty similar to regular peanut butter (it's been years since I've had regular peanut butter, though) . I really switched because of the taste. It tastes more like peanuts, to me anyway.

Recently, I discovered our local organic grocery store sells bulk organic peanut butter, this time by another friend. She goes for the unsalted (I'm probably should, but I do get the salted). This isn't as sweet (the natural stuff you get in jars in the grocery aisle does have some sweeteners added, while this is just pure salted peanuts, ground up)but it's yummy. And it's peanuts, so think good fat. It's more expensive than what you buy in jars, but I have to think it's better for you.

I've been using blackberry jam (about a tablespoon vs. my 2 tablespoons of peanut butter), because I had a jar of it. When I finish the jar though, I might look into getting all-fruit or something that just uses the natural sweetness of the fruit without adding extra sweeteners.

After that peanut butter discussion--onto food/acitivity.
Last night I failed to have a salad:(. I wasn't hungry until right before I had to go dancing, so while I should have had time, it didn't work out that way.

But the dancing was great. A friend of mine DJ'd, and he always plays different and interesting stuff.
I must say, I should clear up, before you give me so much credit for dancing. I've been dancing now for about 2.5 years. I dance 3-4 times a week (that number has increased over the years, but it's been pretty steady at that amount at least over the past year). I do it because it's so much fun. :) Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be enough activity for me. I was maintaining at 150 pounds, not gaining, but not losing either. Hence all the exercise, and actually keeping track of what I eat. My goal is to get down to 125 or 120 (which, given that I'm only 5' tall, is reasonable), and in the couple weeks I've been doing this, I've lost 3 pounds (with my next weigh in tomorrow).

But back on track, here.
Today, no exercise, since getting back at midnight doesn't lend itself to waking up early the next morning. I did walk to the bus stop, will walk back, and if I get really motivated tonight, might try to do something active, but I'd have to be really motivated. But hey, I deserve one day off.

I had my Slim fast on the way to bus stop, will have Progresso Beef & Baked Potato Soup for lunch, with some reduced fat wheat thins, and then I'm going to the store this afternoon so I can, in theory, make a red Thai curry. I'll probably get one of those bags of stir fry vegetables. I'll throw those together with some chicken, coconut milk, red curry paste, maybe some bamboo shoots, fish sauce, a little brown sugar. All, of course, over some jasmine rice.
I haven't had a Thai curry in a while, so I'm excited about it (which is good, since I'll probably be eating it for a few days).

Okay, back to work now.

Hey! I tried to read through all the posts thus far. Has anyone suggested to you? People probably think I own stock in the company! It's just made the calorie counting sooooo much easier and it's completely FREE. I know I'm eating just the right amount of food. . not too little. . not too much . . .

Anyways! Sounds like you are off to a great start. The forum and journal is an excellent source of information and encouragement. Stick with it!

Hello :) Just checking in to say hello. Sounds like you are doing well - 3 hours of dance practice sounds like a lot of hard work!!! Great job!:D

Why do people leave food in the staff lounge? I just had this piece of croissant (I love croissants, but so bad for you). It wasn't a whole one, it was a piece someone had cut, probably left from a meeting or something, and it looked lonely and like it wanted to be dipped in my soup.
What's depressing is that it was somewhere between 50 and 80 calories that I really didn't need (since I still ate my wheat thins)--argh.

Completely unrelated to what I ate or exercise or any weight loss, but before I forget to, I have to write about my adorable kitty.

Last night when I went to bed he was in another room. I woke up this morning and immediately thought "Where's my cat?" I then registered that he had crawled under the covers during the night and was curled up against me (I'm a little slow in the morning, and besides, he did this while I was sleeping--it takes a second for these things to sink in)

I love my cat:p

It sounds like your body is accustomed to what you are putting it through on a regular basis. Do you do any type of strength training at all?

I am going to start doing a home (calisthenics) based plan like lunges, squats, push-ups, jumping jacks etc either starting next week or the week after and I hope it pushes me in the right direction. (I'm working on the 8lbs in Feb challenge, and I really want to get this weight off as Mar 1-9 is Spring Break and I'm going to a cabin in the mountains and skiing with a couple of friends.)

Well, this wasn't a great week (with birthday parties and that cake that's been staring at me--I may have one last slice tonight, then regretfully throw the rest out), but at least I didn't gain any weight.

Last night I really enjoyed my curry, but then I had a bowl of peach frozen yogurt (homemade, though, so it's just nonfat yogurt and canned peaches) and then caved and had 2 pirouette cookies (the hazelnut ones). This morning I realized I really didn't need those cookies.

This morning I did my step aerobics (with the cat trying to crawl into my lap at the end while I was stretching).

I had my Slim Fast, then made lunch.
4 thin slices of Rosemary Ham (I couldn't resist at the grocery store--it sounded so good and it was on sale), 1-1oz slice of colby jack cheese, a little more than a half tablespoon of light mayo, all on whole wheat bread, and a serving of my Veggie Wheat Thin baked chips.

All together, a little under 750 calories so far.

Dinner will probably be curry again.

Tomorrow morning I'll do my dance based aerobics and my total body toning videos (light weights--3 lbs--as well as lunges, squats, fake pushups--on the knees--crunches, etc.), as well as make myself a batch of cherry frozen yogurt (pureed frozen cherries & nonfat yogurt) since the peach is gone.
And tomorrow night there's a live band dance.
