A comeback....

Hi Matt,
Been away for a long time as I had injured my ligament during one of my workouts......so had to take a break from my exercise.....and then I did put on a lot of weight in the mean time......so had to really start again...going through this vicious circle of overeating, weight gain, depression and then again hope.....:Angel_anim:
Well I have started doing my workouts again regularly and have lost 4kgs. , lost inches and can see definitions on my body...... so I am happy:coolgleamA:
I have a sense of relief now as you have posted, cause I was quite concerned....maybe I thought I might have offended you....
Now as the air is cleared it feels good........I will update you on my workouts and progress...
How are your workouts going?
Take care...:seeya:

Well, I'm glad to see you are back and feeling better. I hope that ligament doesnt give you any more problems.

I'm glad to see you are refocused and back to losing. It certainly feels good.

Can i ask if the depression was from putting on the weight? If so, you can not let yourself get depressed over a weight gain. Always remeber, this is a life long journey of eating/being healthy. Once you let a small bump in the road affect you, it's so much harder to get going again.

I had to translate your 4kg into pounds. Arrghhhh....metric system :cuss:. Congrats!!! that is a great loss. KEEP IT UP!!!!

My workouts have been going along. I reached my "goal" weight on 199 and then leveled off. I looked very skinny in the face so and figured out i wanted to add some muscle. Along with muscle, comes some weight. I feel good and just keep working out, eating healthy and mixing in a little cheat meal here and there.

Keep me posted on how things are going.

Matt

Hi Matt,
Congrats on achieving your goal weight and also pumping up the iron for a great physique:hurray:
You are right, the depression was for gaining 22 lbs. during my injury....Its really hard to get your head right back on track....I really admire you for being so focussed all this time...it shows your mental toughness and focus and a great will:beerchug:
Now I have joined a gym and also have a personal trainer, 3 days weight training focussing on upper body, core and lower body seperately ,along with 3 days of cardio that includes spinning cycles.
So its 6 days a week exercise.
Please tell me how to stay more motivated and stay focussed :bigear:

great start, i think you will find having a trainer will help you stay focused. It always helps when you have to be accountable to someone in person.

Staying motivated is the hardest thing I have to do. Believe me, there are many days that I say, why am I doing this or i cant see any results, is it all worth it. This is when i know i need to step back, ask why I started this journey and force myself to go to the gym or eat heathly. I will also look at old pictures and remember how bad I looked and felt.

I re-read this whole journal yesterday to remember a few things. (i would recommend you do this as well.) I see a person that really has tried and wants to get healthy. You always seem to come to a point where you lose focus. You need to indentify when you get to this point. I always tell people that you will come to a fork in the road where you can go left and lose focus or go right and continue your healthy path.

This time when you get to that point, you need to do anything and everything to stay focused.

Also, dont make any excuses or accept small bumps to throw in the towel. Yes, you had an injury (thankfully you are better) but that doesn't give you the right to stop eating healthy. This is when you need to focus on diet. Always remeber, you can exercise all you want but if your diet is not in check, you won't lose weight.

Surround yourself with positive things. Pictures of your goals or what forced you to do it. Find a new hobby. If you put yourself into a situation to succeed then you will.

What kind of daily schedule do you have? School? Work? What are some of the things you like to do?

Hope this helps and take care.

Matt

Thanks for your valuable advise :) I have noticed that I have tendency to lose focus, so right now, what I do is, I have not set any weekly goals and decided to just take each day as it comes and focus on being regular with exercise and diet without worrying much about weight, cause if I achieve my goal weight then well and good but if I don't then its hard to overcome expectations :cuss:
Right now to stay motivated I have noted down the reasons why I wanna lose weight and how will I benefit from it and How important is it to lose weight at this point of time?I read it out daily as a commitment and also to discipline my mind:rolleyes:
Yes I do make it a point to surround myself with positive things and also make it a point to develop a positive attitude......
Will keep you updated on my progress.....
Take care:waving:

That's a great attitude. Remember this is a life journey. You will have many ups and downs. JUst focus on the big picture and you will be fine.

Can you share these. I'd like to hear what you have to say.

Do you still do martial arts? That sounds like a great work out. Having a blue belt, you must have put in a lot time.

I'm sure being a grad student is very stressful and time consuming. What are you going to specialize in?

My hobbies. I love spending time with my two kids. My daughter just turned 4 and my son is 1. They take up a lot of time but it's so worth it.

I just found a passion for hiking. I always loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time camping but could never hike because of my weight. Well, i hiked my first mountain last year and it was a great accomplishment. I have many hikes planned for this summer. I cant wait. Maybe i can post some pics.

Also like sports. My favorites are probably baseball and american football. I cant get enough and love to play as much as watching them.

Does having a cold beer or 12 with my friends count as a hobby? :coolgleamA:

Take care my friend! :seeya:

Ya, I surely know the moves but I miss the agility and fitness.....:svengo:It was in highschool that I got my blue belt in taekwondo......10 yrs. back....that's probably one of the reason, I wanna lose weight...

Surely it is :hurray: I am sure weight loss must have helped you in catching up with the kids and their energy.

I am off from my exercise today.... I can barely walk due to pain in my left foot....I had done upper body session yesterday and we finished with 25 counts of pushups at last....But me and my trainer both missed out the hamstring strech after the workout so my left foot is damn sore, stiff and in pain.....:cuss:

Glad to see your workouts are going so well. How is the diet doing?

Things are going welll over here. I am actually in a training session this week for work so i won't be able to work out at my regular gym. I will need to do some exercise at night. Supposed to be a beautiful weekend.

Take care :seeya:

I have started to follow my diet plan given by my dietitian from this week,It allows me to eat every 2-3 hours, 5-6 times with atleast 3 fruits daily. The calories are limited to 1300-1500/day....
Enjoy your training sessions and also your workout :coolgleamA:
