I am 30 years old and I am done with being this big. when I was 19-20 I gained about 80 lb in a years time and have been living with being obease for the last ten years I dont want to spend my 30's like I did my 20's (FAT).

hello maggie and welcome! I know what mean about being FAT..not so good! I hope you have a good weekend!

Hi welcome.

Can I ask how you came to your Goal measurements? Are these for a certain timeframe?

I only ask because your Goal BMI is still very high. Of course any loss is a positive thing. I'm just curious.

I like the way being a little big looks for my hight I think women who are a size twelve look better then those who are a size say 6-8 I have a very wide frame when In my mid teens I was a size 8 and you could see most of my ribs, the bones in my chest and my hip bone stuck out to much. I know what the BMI charts say but I have been doing research and acording to the AHA new studies are showing that a BMI of 23-30 is optimal and even upto 35 for those over the age of 65. I dont like the way bing as big as I am looks but I think bones are as ugly as roles.

Hey Maggie! Welcome!

We're a LOT alike, as far as height and weight go. I'm about to turn 27 (in a week), I'm 5'9" tall and started out as a size 16-18 at 220-ish pounds. I started working out on the last day of July and I'm down to 182 and a size 12 now, which feels GREAT.

I'm starting to get people telling me I should stop losing weight, but I'm shooting for 160, the "Ideal" weight for our height according to one chart I saw. When I get there I may decide it's too thin for me, but we'll have to wait and see.

But I just wanted to say hi since we're so similar!! I'll do anything I can to help! Good luck!

Oh OK, thanks for the answer.
I ask because I'm 6 feet tall and I'm shooting for 150 and you can see on my little graph below the BMI (20 I think). I started out at 200 and then when I got here I was 185, and there are no ribs anywhere on me :blush5:. I guess everyone has different builds so no use in comparing right.

OK Make that 68 LB to loose

I went and got a new scale and it has me at 256.8 I also got a newnotebook so I can start keeping track of what I eat. I started keeping track this morning. I am aiming for under 2200 calories a day for now.

OK I ate 1800 calories the 27th and 2200 yesterday and Im at 254 on my new scale
66 lb to loose

I need to post some pictures maybe that will help keep me motavated.

i would think 150 pounds would be very thin for someone who is 6 feet tall

I agree I think 150 for someone 6 ft would be realy thin but some people have a small frame and it looks ok on them I am not one of those people. In a perfect world be 160 lb and a size 8-10 but Im at a place in my life that a 12 would make me happy with the way I look.

64 lb to loose

Down 1 more lb to 252 I need to step it up a bit and realy stick to a 2000 cal or less diet I finding myself get weak at night when Im tired.

Good luck, Mags. (I hope you don't mind if I call you that.) Congratulations on deciding to become healthier. It's the best thing you can do for yourself.

YEY!! Congratulations!! Good for you hon.

Stick to what works for you. I find it hard to concentrate on everyday things if I've not packed enough calories in for the day. Given your height and weight, I find 2000 to be a good start. You can do this.

I'm 5' 10, and currently at 157 pounds. I have a medium frame but I'm not lanky. For the past year I've grown alot of muscle, but still, I want to lose maybe another 10 pounds. I carry most of the weight in my tummy and am currently a size 12. I can fit into a 10, and by all rights, I should be wearing a 10, but I like my jeans baggy lately because I have to wear sports shorts under them for b-ball practice. When the season's over, I'll be in a 10 for good I presume.

I don't find 160 to be all that attractive on me right now. 150 would definately be a better bargin for me. Because of my height, I don't think I'd want to go too much below that.
