15 yrs Overweight is same as me. I just hope I don't get off track like I did last year. I appreciate ya'll keeping me on track.

Thanks I needed that! Didn't move anything but fingers last week. Just couldn't resist playing my new Tele, but it looks like Liv has confiscated it. That's ok it is a beautiful thing to see that gorgeous girl improvising on that gorgeous guitar.

Hey Free - - 60lbs. off was good work - & maybe your mind&Body needed the break - . go with what your body tells ya -

Glad U are back ! :hat: ( remember - that good 'ol exercise is the insurance against gaining - move a little everyday- & U never fat ever again ....)

ya dude - I hear ya - my body is "Fatty prone" too !.... :hat:

...am glad that U decided next 60 off is a go ! & time limit- do it 'til it's done...that's so wise - takes some pressure-off - more reasonable pace is easier to maintain & stick to & more likely to keep permanent in the weight once down ....win win .- just 'cause genetics/hsty trends us to fat- doesn't mean we cant' learn to work around our natural trends...


... scbidhouse on this site totally inspires me - middle-age gal like myself - took her ~ 18 months now - but she's lost 94 lbs..... proof this can be done. :)


... one thing I found helped me this fall - I downloaded some hypnosis recordings ( Enjoying weight loss )(Dr.Roberta Temes) - I'm more of a science-person- not a believer in the touchy-feely stuff - but I think the ideas/positive reinforcement her recordings offer actually do help - one main concept she does start with is that some of us do have genetics&minds that lead us to naturally trend to weight gain , but that we can learn lifestyle choices to help keep us slim-despite our "hard-wire" ., and Fat2Fit podcasts -( I listen to those while I do my walks) - the 2 fellows on there really have lots of sound, reasonable & interesting info for support of healthy lifestyle & fat-gain fighting.

- we just need to accept that our "natural" trend is to gaining , and Educate ourselves/learn - lifestyle choices/tricks/ - & make them habits - for "countering against" our "natural"....

~ A lady I work with ( one of my best "coaches" ) has a hubby who struggles with weight ( & diabetes now too...) - she says he's hard-wired for LAzy & Food ( sounds just like me....) - she's reasonably slim herself- but says that even she works at daily exercise in her life, and healthy food choices (most of the time ) (& she told me that even she splurges the odd-time on a bag of chips) - but she says as long as at least 9 out of 10days Dont' include chips-& Include Daily exercise - usually weight will stay stable.


Glad U are back dude - on the "good hill walk"... to your good future. ( & bet U are already feeling much stronger & healthier with the 60lbs. you've just shed - Excellent work ! )

Finally I have lost 50 pounds. It took me about 11 weeks to do it but considering I binged in LA and New Orleans and a bit over the 4th, I am pleased with my progress. I have 50 more to go, but without binges I hope to do it in 8 weeks with my modified rotation diet and 90 minutes to 120 minutes of exercise per day.

I started out on Katahn's 3 week rotation, but I have modified it to work best for me.

Here is my modification of the Rotation Diet:

1st Week:

Alternate between 1200 and 1500 calories for 6 days then 1500 on 7th day.

2nd Week:

Next 7 days 1800/1500 calorie alternation

3rd Week:

Alternate between 1200 and 1500 calories for 6 days then 1500 on 7th day.

4th Week:

Next 7 days 1600 increased by 100 calories
per day to 2200 calories per day

This is a 4 week rotation instead of the 3 week rotation of Katahn's Diet.

Wow.. this is pretty interesting. So you managed to lose 50lb in 11 weeks by following the above? What type of exercise did you do alongside it?

I would love to lose that amount of weight in that sort of time frame.. would you recommend the fluctuation of calories on a daily basis to help trigger weight loss? I tend to keep to the same and then lower the amount every month or so... maybe this is where I've gone wrong in the past?

Yes Carmen, I love my vacations in New Orleans. Although I eat a lot of good food there, I don't gain weight because I mainly eat fish and I do a lot of walking in the quarter.

The key is to Boost your metabolism. I posted an article from webmd above. Check it out.
