50 lb Loss

Hello everyone!

Anyways I thought I would do this post as a montage kind. Just a few pics.. What I USED to look like and what I have accomplished. I only have the one picture for now because i deleted nad burned as MANY as possible once I lost weight. I found this one on a friends facebook. I would very much like her to take it down lol.
Anyways here goes...
This image is from 2006 at the end of grade 12. I was WAY overweight and disgusting CLEARLY. (on the left- short and FAT FAT FAT)

This is from when I actually started losing weight. ( If you can even believe it, the picture above, I'd lost 5 pounds!!! ) I really liked this picture because I had a jawline and a LITTLE bit of a collar bone!!! Beautiful. I'll always love that picture. My first Accomplisment!

This is probably the first "body shot" I'd ever taken. That shirt was tight on me at the beginning of the year when I bought it. I had my shirt tied at the back so you can see I'm not fat!

I worked out hard and had pretty rockin muscles. I specifically remember my heart and chest hurting when I took this picture.

I realllly loved this picture because of my jawline. It was so sharp. I would touch it ALLday EVERYday. I dont even look like the same person!

Thought I was muscle Woman... Sorry if this seems to explicit!

I fell in love with myself for the first time in my life.M

So thats my little montage or whatever you call it. You might not be able to tell because lots of them aren't very good pics but i can tell there IS big weight-differing ones in tehre... i just deleted most of the heavy heavy ones... and for good reason if you ask me!!
If i find more I'll update or redo this!

Anyways my point of that is to motivate myself and others. I need to get back on track and lose lose lose. I kept myself at the low weight of 122lbs (down from 190) for about a year and a half. I then gained to 140 and have since climbed to 165 since then. I have gained most of it in the last year and I could sit here and make up excused as to why I gained half of it back but I won't lie.

Losing weight is about WORKING OUT!! I cannot stress this enough. I quit the gym because I thought I was motivated enough to do it on my own. I also thought that because I was thin, I could eat WHATEVER I want, and have actually started eating WORSE than I did when I was 190 lbs! SO 165 is REALLY a wake up call. I am doing the November challenge on this website. So really guys, use this as a motivation!! This was NOT hard to lose. If you're passionate enough... you'll get it off!!!

um..great job but I have to disagree about losing weight is about working out. Actually it is about creating calories in vs calories out. Now, exercise does increase calories out but controlling your diet is actually more effective for weight loss.

yeah i completely agree about controlling diet, but I feel that working out is just as important. At least, taht is how I feel because, I was (am) fat because I love food and I don't believe in starving myself completely (cutting calories is different) which I see a lot of people (not necessarily on here but in real life) doing to get down to small sizes, when I think there should be a healthy balance between working out and diet and nutrition!

It's all part of the same tree.

anyways, sorry if it came off like I was dismissing what you have done or anything. I need to stop saying things when I'm tired lol. Seriously, as a member of the 50 pound down club, I know how hard it can be. Congrats!

Excellent work meeting your goals the first time around, it is a huge difference and you look great in those photos! As far as getting back there goes there is no time like the present to start, no reason to wait for some other event to start. Just remember you have done it before and you have that experience to draw on to get back to your target again.

As far as the photos of yourself before weight loss it is good to keep them handy. Having those gives you something to look at for comparison when you are at your goal weight and it helps to remind you why you eat healthy and stay physically active. Out of sight out of mind is a big one here, if you destroy all your memories of yourself before your weightloss you are less likely to think twice about unhealthy choices.

Also, try not to focus on where you dont want to be when trying to obtain your fitness goals, rather focus on where you DO want to be. Use those photos of you at your goal weight as something to strive for and whenever you feel like putting off your exercise or think about reaching for some snacks not because your body needs nutrients but because you want something that tastes good get a good vivid image in your mind of yourself at your goal weight and remember how great it felt to be there when you "fell in love with yourself" =)

Congrats, you're looking great.

Why are you congratulating her? She gained most of it back. I have to say, it was a bit confusing to read through. It almost does sound like she's posting a success story with her level of excitement. But then at the end... everything went bad. It's a shame, but I hope that the OP reads a good book on nutrition before starting again. Because "working out" is DEFINITELY NOT the only answer. 50% of it is what you eat and how much.

Well, to be honest, it is saying congradulations on not only her previous success but her wanting to get back on track.

I just joined this site, I must say you're very inspirational I used to weigh 135lbs this past year I've gone through some stuff and I currently weight 180 and I feel so wrong in this body. You're story/pictures give me hope! I emailed you from your contact info but I wasn't sure if you were going to read it (usually when I get emails from people that I dont know I just delete them) but I just wanted to say I can relate and would love to talk more :)

Are you talking to me about the email? Because I don't think my email address is even viewable to people, feel free to send a private message though.

No I wasn't talking about you, I was talking about the girl who posted this thread lol

Thank you for your comment.

I put this up here because I want people to know what I've achieved in the past, and so that myself as well as others realize the importance of keeping fit and eating healthy.

I am not a writer, clearly. Therefore, I apologize that it was confusing to read. I do however want to clear up that I DO NOT BELIEVE FITNESS IS THE ONLY ANSWER. I truly believe that adjusting your diet will make weight loss will occur. What I was trying to say was that, maintaining any sort of weight loss is easiest when working out, while still practicing a healthy diet. I'm not saying you have to, I know a lot of people dislike working out, but that is my opinion of easy.

Anyways, like I said, this entire thread is open to critique and I appreciate your comment, cause it keeps me going.

Hi captainhealy. I did not mean to come across as rude or harsh. It is just IMO that not EVERYONE should be congratulated no matter what. Your method clearly wasn't the right choice as you gained most of the weight back. That's all I was saying. I wasn't being mean, just stating the facts. All I meant by "confusing" is that it almost appeared to be a success story until you read the very end. Most people on internet "scan" rather than read text. So I bet you some of the people who read this thought it was a complete success story. If you were like me and read it thoroughly, you will know what happened. I have to say, it's an interesting thread... not one you'll find all that often.

Now for something different... I have to ask you.. After all this, you still feel that what you did was the right way? How can that be? If you talk to any professional fitness trainer, he/she will tell you that 50% of your weight loss success is based on what you eat (your diet). Sure, you can exercise your heart out and the pounds will come off... but only up to a point if you haven't gotten your diet worked out. The pounds will back on otherwise. That won't happen if you get your diet worked out. No more foods with added sugars, no complex carbs, eats lots of veggies and fruits, very low on saturated fats, eat lots of whole grains, etc.
