4 pack to 6 pack

Hey guys,

I am a 19 y.o i go to the gym at least 4 times a week and run 5 times a week for 6kms and a quick pace. I have been for the last year and a half trying to get a 6 pack, i have only so far been able to get 4 abs predominately showing(top 4). I have tried everything, now there is kind of a shell starting to form over my abs when i work out and i have been told that is bad for trying to get a six pack.

Any ideas would be great, for exercises or anything that could help me get that 6 pack.
