Before 210 lbs

Currently 190

I gave up coffee (use to drink 5-7 cups a day with sugar and cream) and started to work out again. I am doing personal training and going to the gym but they both only started 20 days ago.

I have saved over $150 on coffee.

The final goal is to get down to 155 and build muscle. I want to get my body into shape like Wolverines in that movie!

Great job! Were the caffeine headaches from quitting that much coffee pretty bad? You look great and keep up the awesome new lifestyle :)

Coffee

It was so difficult to give up coffee. I did it cold turkey. I was drinking tea with no sugar or milk (which I like it that way) but it was not really the same. I also had a week where I switched to hot chocolate and chocolate milk, but put an end to that once I realized how much I was drinking (5-7 a day).

I feel like I have so much more energy, and my eyes are no longer sunken in. I feel great without coffee in my system. I did not get headaches, just cold sweats when I smelt it or got dragged into a coffee shop while my friends drank some.

I went into Dunkin Donuts for the first time in 30 days and got a hot chocolate without any problems or cravings for coffee. It was a great feeling!

I am not saying coffee is bad for you, but I met a lot of hesitation from everyone around me saying that it is bad to give up coffee. These were the same people who dragged me to Starbucks, made me hold their coffees, and kept asking me what I was ordering when I told them I gave it up. For me, coffee was bad due to how I drank it and how much I drank. Doing black coffee is like a gateway for me to return back to my habits.

Congrats so far man! I look forwarding to being able to say I've lost the same amount of weight and more. Keep us updated. What are you eating? What exercises are you doing?

Excercise and diet

I have been weight lifting and doing cardio. I go to the gym like 5 days a week with a day off on sunday and one other day which depends on my mood. I am .5 miles from the gym so I run there and back (1 mile and at my weight thats 180 calories extra burned).

I am trying not to lose the weight too quickly because I do not want lose skin at all. So i am pacing myself and taking in a lot of protein. Before the diet I was eating 1200 calories of food and drinking probably 800 calories. Now I am still eating 1200 calories but mainly drinking water. I am on a nutrition plan offered through my gym, and they want me to eat 2,000 calories a day, but I really struggle eating that quantity of food, so I tend to replace one meal with a protein shake. I am trying to do the 2,000 calorie thing but it is very difficult for me.

I like running and that has helped me a lot to lose the weight. I hate treadmills though due to an accident I had on one years ago, so I stick to the elliptical.

For a period of only 30 days, the results are quite amazing.
I was reading your blog, and I like your tip on eating before going shopping. I think it'll help a lot because when I go shopping on an empty stomach... I always end up with guilty pleasures.

One of the tips I made for myself and use that is really helpful for me is Do not buy anything with a big cooking time. Leave the room while microwaving. Every time I get something with 10+ cooking time, I hover near the microwave and start snacking. I turn into a food vulture and start eating anything near the microwave and then eat the entire meal once it is cooked.

good job on giving it up i used to drink and smoke but i quit both!! cold turkey i feel great kudos to u!!!! u look goooooooood
