Hello everyone! I've always lurked on this site and have just decided to put my own pictures. Not a lot of before's as i never like my picture taken, something that hasn't changed even now... Anyway i decided i needed to change not as a lifestyle change but to try and get my ex back lol, only when i'd started my journey did i realise that losing her was the best thing that'd happened to me and by far the biggest weight loss, harsh i know but that wasn't a good base to start on. I did the following for myself :)

Before

YES THERE IS A GUY STANDING BEHIND ME LOL

AFTER AND BEYOND

I'm 5ft 8in started at a healthy 280lbs, over 20stone, as a joke i joined the gym with one of my friends and it started from there. The first two months were horrible, my knees swelled up from the cardio i was doing, had to slow down. I remember one day i woke up and couldn't even stand, was terrible but i'd let myself get to that point and only i could sort it out, so i kept on. Today i'm at 13.5stone, about 183lbs. I did cardio and light weights to start, mostly cardio. 1 hour a day, 6 days a week till i was a bit more confident. I now do 2hours cardio a day, 1 hour run, 30 minutes cross trainer and 30 minutes rowing, also ride 14 miles to and from work when the weather is good. Still want to lose a bit more and then concerntrate more on weights.

So thats me, a lot of inspiration has been taken from this site and i would like to thank all of you for your posts, kept me going.

Congrats on your accomplishment, and pushing through those days early on when it seemed tough. And you are right- YOU did this, and did this for YOURSELF! You look absolutely fantastic!!!

Thank you Ange, I'd say the best thing about such a change is the reaction you get from people, sometimes it's just that keeps you going. Again thank you for your words :)

That's really amazing. You look like a completely different person. Congratulations on all your hard work, it has seriously paid off!!!

Wow benjie!!

Incredible and inspirational story mate! Keeping on keeping on even when times got tough (knees swelling) and seeing that weight bench in your living room is so cool. I lurked around a lot too before I started posting, so thanks for posting your amazing story!

Thanks to you all for your words and the encouragement you gave just by being on this site! :) We should all be proud of what we've achieved and what we're going to achieve. Just wish someone coulda told me i'd be needing to replace my entire wardrobe, would've saved up first lol

You look fantastic and well done on fighting through the pain when many people would have just given up. Your efforts were well worth while :D

Wow, that "pants" picture says it all. Great job! So, did you change your eating habits as well? If so, what did you do?

Also, I have trouble with the treadmill, as I weigh about 25 stone (355 lbs) and my poor knees can only take so much. How were you able to work through the pain... and what about recovery time?

Hi Mark, thanks for the kind words, it's the little things like that that'll motivate you to get your ass moving :) My diet was the first thing i changed, no fads, just ate less and more healthier. I remember i could eat a large pizza and a litre of fizzy drink and still want more in a couple of hours! I stopped drinking fizzy drinks first, replaced with water. Every meal i eat now is freshly made, a lot of veggies, frozen & fresh and got rid of my microwave too. I remember my younger brother coming back from University and commenting on how depressing my fridge was lol. About the knees, no joke it took about a week and a half for all the pain to go away. The first 4 days were horrible, at work had to hold onto the rail on the stairs and pull myself up lol. I slowed down on the treadmill after that, instead of running I walked on an incline. Keep at it though, I surprise myself with what I can tolerate now exercise-wise. Hope that helps and wish you all the best mate :)

Really inspiring pictures and great to hear about how it all came about for you. Good job, man.
