25kg of fat to shift - Hobbio's Journey

So, here's me. I'm male, 38, 174cm (5'8 1/2") tall, British and too fat.

I'm currently sat at 102.6kg, which is about 225lb. I need to be somewhere around 77kg, which is about 170lb. The astute amongst you will have realised that I need to lose about 25% of my bodyweight!

I measure my weight in kilos, so if you want to know lbs just multiply it by 2.2.

4 years ago I was 85kg, a lot fitter as I trained weights and cardio and I carried a fair bit more muscle. Not bodybuilder big, but enough to show through the fat. These days I've lost the muscle, fitness and I'm weak as a kitten.

I stopped smoking about 4 months ago, so that should help me with exercising.

I intend to lose the weight with dietary changes and training.

Wish me luck!

Whilst I remember, here are my short term goals.

Weight - Get below 98kg and keep it there.
Fitness - Be able to touch my toes.

I'll log food daily too.

Drinks - 3 cups of machine tea, white, no sugar. After lunch it's water only at work, and there'll be a couple of pints of squash at home this evening. I'll get at least 2 litres of plain water regardless.

No breakfast.

Mid-morning - handful of mixed nuts, apple, banana.

Lunch - approx. 100g cooked turkey, large serving of salad leaves, roughly 2-3 tablespoons of low fat French dressing, handful of mixed nuts.

Got out for a 20 min walk at lunchtime.

Welcome to the forum!

A great start aside from skipping breakfast.

What is squash? We eat that on this side of the pond.

Welcome to the thread mate :)

Oops, squash is diluted fruit juice. Sugar free, I drink loads of it.

I don't have time to eat before I leave for work, so I have something about 10am instead. I've tried forcing food in too early before and it just sets off my heartburn.

Right, not going to lie. Food Thursday night went to buggery, toad in the hole and chips, lots of white bread to mop up the gravy, crisps, biscuits. I do so well at work and then mess it up when I get home. It's depressing.

Yesterday was a lot better, but not perfect by any means. I had fruit and nuts in the morning, approx 100g cooked chicken with salad leaves and a seeded wholemeal roll with olive oil for lunch, 4 slices wholemeal toast with a thin scraping of spread and 4 dry-fried eggs for dinner. Then I buggered it up with 4 Ferrero Rocher.

Today, I've had 2 slices of wholemeal toast with a thin scraping of spread and Marmite.

I walked into town to pick up a parcel, that was a 2.1 mile round trip that I would normally have driven so that's a positive.

Nice work Hobbio - don't worry about the past stuff ups, look to what you can do for the future. Today. You are doing great! Nice work on walking to get the parcel, that's good stuff.
Remember - you have the choice, you can do this!
