Hi,

You can call me Ty. Growing up and all through high school my weight fluctuated from 210-230. Once I got to college I started working at Subway and believe it or not I got down to about 185 eating chicken sandwiches or salads everyday and lifting weights. It felt good, after college I moved back home and stayed around the same weight for some time, working at a health food store, it was easy to get on board with everyone else, eating healthy and continuing to exercise. That all changed when I got a job at a place called world of beer, some of you might have heard of it. I thought it was really cool that there were all these different beers that I had never heard of so I joined their loyalty club, basically gaining points and recieveing rewards for the more beers you drank. Looking back now I wish that I didn't have close to 1000 different beers. As you might have guessed, with beers came the weight. A year later, back to 210-230, back where I started. It wasn't all a bust, I've started to find a career path in craft beer and it is what I'd like to continue to do. Like most of us, I've tried multiple times to lose the weight, my problem is that I am one extreme or the other, Im either eating right and exercising everyday or eating and not doing much of anything. Sometimes I get extremely determined and do really well for awhile but eventually get burned out and it's right back to beers and burgers. This time I'd like to get back down to 185 and keep it that way. I started about 10 days ago, tracking calories, preparing meals and mixing in some light exersice while being active at work as well. This guide from 230 to 185 will allow me to stay motivated, take constructive criticism and serve as a way to hold myself accountable along the way.

Here I am at 185-190 back when I first started to get into beer.

When you're skinny it's the smaller things you dont notice, people not giving you a titty twister or mentioning "hey sweet tits". Or, that momentum evoked roll over move getting out of bed in the morning. It's the glances you dont get from the cute passerby in the supermarket.

Right now, I am eating a lot of salads, peppers, avocado, chicken breasts(mainly this), bbq sauce, chobani yogurt, almonds.
I've cut my beer intake from about 20-25 per week to about 8-10, depending on whether I go out one night and binge or not, also to help with the drinking I've started drinking some Vodka/Soda water. Each day I feel myself wanting to drink less and less which is nice, I dont have the compelling urge to out right after work and grab a couple pints with friends. Rather just kick back and enjoy the rest of my evening at home which is a sacrifice I am more than willing to take to get to my goal.

A few of my motivations are, obviously looking and feeling better. Getting the girl. And to avoid a possible stroke, something that runs in my family and something my dad has struggled with for the past year.

So, lets raise our glasses (of water) and get Ty to 185. Comments welcome, tips and inspiration.

Hey there :) So I found a lot of similarities between us. I am cutting down my vodka/soda consumption to one per week and going vegan. I wouldn't recommend the vodka/soda mix because it caused me to be up to my highest weight ever. There is also another user on here who got up to 650 but he was having a fifth of vodka and two liters of soda every night. I was reading an article by a fitness expert and he was saying that we should limit alcohol consumption as much as possible because it actually prevents our livers from burning fat. Good luck on your journey!
