Hey whats up guys, just recently started going to the gym (9 months now), when i got in i was 22years old, 173 cm tall and 86kg, sporting a 27% body fat (which has actually pretty good compared to when i was younger). Now i am 23 years old, same height and 80kg with aprox 20% body fat, the progress itself hasn't been bad but could be better. I have been focusing as of now (3 weeks ago) on a upper/lower split geared towards getting a good basis of strenght in order to perform harder exercises in the future.
As for loads per example i am doing:
Bench Press : 70 kg (PR of 80kg) | 5 reps
Military Press : 30 kg | 10 reps
Dumbbell Walking Lunge : Dumbbells of 12 kg | 10 reps (10 steps each leg)
Reverse Lat Pulldown : 60kg | 12 reps
Here is actually a video of me doing these exercises :
Cheers guys and awesome workouts.

Hey man, solid work so far — dropping from 27% to 20% body fat in under a year while getting stronger is definitely a win, especially if you’ve been consistent.

Your current strength numbers are a great starting point too. Bench at 70kg for 5 and an 80kg PR is respectable at your size, and the walking lunges at 12kg show you're working both strength and stability, which will carry over well into more advanced movements down the line.

The upper/lower split is a solid choice, especially for building that strength base. As long as you’re progressively overloading and keeping recovery in check, you’re setting yourself up for long-term progress.

A couple of tips going forward:
  • Don’t get discouraged if fat loss slows — the leaner you get, the more patient you have to be.
  • Keep focusing on compound lifts and maybe track your main lifts weekly or biweekly to make sure they’re trending up.
  • Fuel your workouts properly. Strength gains will come easier with enough protein and calories, even if you're still cutting slowly.
