Hi, my name is Jeff and i'm from Quebec,Canada (yes the french speaking part, hence the numerous errors in spelling). I kind of found this forum looking for some advice on how to loose some weight and i though that i should ask for some advice. I will try to describe my situation as precisely as possible
I'm a 21 year old, 5 foot 11 man and my weight is currently moving between 255 and 264 lbs. I have big bones and large shoulder so my weight doesnt show that much. I appear to be more chubby than fat which make people think i weight less than i do. But my apparence is not what motivate me to loose weight.
I just recently though of asking a bit about my family health problems and it kinda scared me. On my mother side, i have 3 uncles who died of cancer, 2 relatives with ashma, 1 with diabetes , my grand father had a stroke in the 80'S and recently had another attack, my uncle suffer from some kind of arthritis inside his bone (dont know the medical term). On my father side, my grand father died from a hearth attack, he had diabetes and my grand mother ahd hypertension and also died from a stroke. Both my parent are taking cholesterol meds.
Right now i dont have any medical problems and i'm not taking any meds, but i know that if i dont do something while i'm young i will have huge problems later. I'm already experiencing some troubles if i dont rest enought between exercises (black spots, ear buzzing, etc) and i want to put an end to that
I am a college student but my classes only restart in april. So i want to use to the maximum the time between now and then. At home, i currently have what i think the call an home gym. It's a weider pro 9635 like the one at this link:
. I also have a bench with about 300 lbs of weight and a stationnary bike. During the summer i can use the pool, which is currently frozen solid.I started around november to do push-ups everyday (about 5-6 series of 20) and since last week i am doing about the same number of sit-ups but i kind of decreased the number of series of push-ups.
As for the diet aspect, i'm reducing the amount of soda I drink and i try to avoid junk food as much as possible. I drink beer every week my my friends but i rarely drink alone (exept sometime when hockey is on tv). I dont smoke and i am not really into drugs.I might smoke weed about 3-4 times a year and only outside during the summer with some friends. I'm not a big vegetable eater (i pretty much only eat salad, carrot, brocoli and, strangely, brussel sprout) I believe the best way to fulfill my daily quota would be to drink some vegetable juice like V8 or such.
I believe the best way for my to really get into it would be to have a really strict diet and exercise program. I'm willing to try anything (exept maybe stop drinking beer)
So if any of you guys have any suggestions, it would be really appreciated.
Thank you very much for your time
