20to10 - a journey begins with a single step.

Will do the bike instead. But was really revved up to go. Wah!

the step aerobics are my fave ! The wii fit plus has alot of games that are awesome, let me know if thats they one u have and i can let u know what i like. The original wii fit has a 30 min timed step aerobics where u can just watch tv and it counts your steps for you, but you might need help being shown how to start it, you might need to change the input.

Will try that musiklover! Thanks!!

Well, I'm a bit annoyed with myself. Like I said I couldn't go to boxercise yesterday because my husb didn't get home in time so then I ended up doing no exercise yesterday OR the day before OR this morning. Grrrrrr at myself.

Now, I'm doing the food thing to the letter and keeping the calories down to 1100 - 1200 but the scale isn't budging since Tuesday (4 days ago)!

Arggghhhh!!

To be frank. Your scale isnt moving because your not eating enough.... 1100 to 1200 calories is wAYYY to little...

Women are supposed to take in between 1400 to 1600 calories a day, depending.. plus you werent able to exercise ... but you are eating too little ... do you use fitday.com .. it is very good ...

Your body is probably going into starvation mode ... and cleaning house ...with the fat. I would really increase your caloric intake and I hope you can get some moves in ...

but the cutting down on calories is not good... only leads to gaining weight ..starvation mode ...trust me ..did it ... ended up in hospital ...and than started eating again and gained weight ..its been a long journey ..but I can tell you ..dont cut those calories down too much ..or youll find ... youll go in the opposite direction .. u know ...

and are you on a plataeu .. I heard a plateau actually means your body is using the stored fat ..so actually ..its a good thing ..once you start losing again it will be new fat and stored fat ...

best wishes
just thought I would tell you ...

keep trecking
I know you are on the Vday challenge, we can do this....

Still same number. Maybe you're right tho yesterday I went up to 1300 and weight same today. Grrrr...

This is annoying. I'm going to a consultation with a trainer for kettlebells on Monday. Wish me luck.

Oohh, kettlebell workouts always seemed very intriguing to me... I thought about buying a set of em, but dannnng. They are PRICEY. Have a good consult, let us know how it goes! And as far as the cals go- I would check some websites like fitday or sparkpeople etc., to see what a recommended amount is. I'm at 1800 right now, which is actually a little bit lower than recommended, but the higher your cals are now, the lower you can go when you start losing the bigger numbers(1200 being the absolute lowest for women). Hope that helps :)

Thanks Jess. I'm on 1300 today because I won't be exercising. I'm trying the zig zag method and increasing on days I'm training snd decreasing other days. See how that goes!

I heard kettlebells are the best way to burn fat and get toned. It's also the fasted way and takes 20-30min/ day. I'll also keep up with the boxercise bike and aquafit.

I'm going to take a nap as I was up at six am to take my daughter to Irish dancing competition!! Ouch!!

Zzzzzzzzzz

I am on the VDAY challenge too!
Heres to a possible loss :hurray::hurray::hurray:

Thanks Natsky!

I'm not irish but my husb is and been here 7yrs!! She also plays the fiddle and tin whistle and knits too!

I hope I've solved it too!!

Yay! At the risk of being gross, I'm pretty sure half of that is from POO! eWWW!!

Anyway, I made a gorgeous 3 bean soup/stew today and broke it up into 8 servings. Each serving is 240cals and v low fat, hi protein and hi fibre.

Anyone want the recipe? Just ask!! (It's not actually beans, it's organic lentils, organic soya beans and organic flageleot beans and lots and lots of veggies!)

So, I took my measurements, I mean my helpful husb did it!

Here they are:

upper arm R: 40cm L: 40cm
wrist R:17cm L: 16.8cm
waist (at bellybutton) 107cm
under boobs: 99cm
over boobs: 114cm
upper hips: 119cm
upper thigh R: 73cm L: 71cm
calf R:46cm L: 45cm
Hips/bum: 120cm

So, that's a start.

I did a starter for TurboJam today to see if I could do it. I tried out two videos of the Learn and Burn video. I think I can do them. But the bit I did wasn't much of a workout as I was worried about form, etc. So, then I did 20min on the wii step aerobics and hulahoop. Both were easy, but the hula hoop did work a lot of key areas where I need owrk so I'll definitely incorporate that.

Like I said, I'm going to a trainer tomorrow at 3pm (not working out, just going for a chat) to see what he thinks. Like I said, I have a few injuries that make certain things hard (like ground abs work is excruciating as I shattered my coccyx during childbirth) so the standing abs work in turbojam appeals to me.

Anyway, I still have about 700cals left and it's 5.35pm so I better get moving and get some food. Hope you're all doing well and minding yourselves. I'm getting less stressed about not having lost anything since last week's weigh in, though it goes against my well-trained Weight Watchers brain to see a gain or no loss and think it's okay. But I realise I'm making a lot of changes and my poor brain/body are wondering what I'm doing to them!!

But, the week before I started this programme, here is a sample of what I used to eat:

Breakfast: One or two bagels with chunks CHUNKS of butter, two or three coffees with whole milk

Lunch: A filled roll with hot chicken, cole slaw, cheese, a packet of crisps and a diet coke (ahaha) and probably a bar of somesort

After work: at least one 'junkfood' item, like crisps or a chocolate bar or both!

Dinner: I'd make myself at least a few slices of toast with real butter, while making dinner. Then I'd make the dinner and use as much butter, cream, sauce, cheese and fried stuff as I could make.

So, I gained 5 stone (70lbs) in 18 months. Is that a record? I just couldn't get the food into me fast enough. I think the book, "The Hungry Years" by William Leith is a must read for any compulsive overeaters, though I think I was waaay worse than he was but didn't have the problem of overdoing it with alcohol he had.

I've found since it's so cold and the pipes are so cold, the water is too cold to drink so I've been using half and half water out of the kettle and tap water and it seems to be easier to drink.

So, we'll see if I can clear this constipation issue up (lhaha) and make a bit more progress with the exercise consistency!

If you want to see what I've been eating, go here:

Hey 20to10,

Awesome about the bean dish and yes I would love to have it. Beans have like ... I mean they are so good for you ...and than the fiber is the kicker. I am happy you found something that would do you good. It sounds very healthy. Good for you!!

and the calories are good per serving ..excellent ..

and your diet in the past sounds like my diet in the past. Its amazing the changes we make when we are actually, really and totally on this journey to lose weight, isnt it. It just does a total turn around ...

best wishes to you
and Excellent loss!!

and excellent job kicking butt and finding a way to cure your problem..

Thanks natsky. Well the scale is just stuck on 95.4. I can't figure out what it is. Still have the constipation have been irregular with the exercise so I'm going to take a laxative ( I already drink 3L water a day) go up to 1400 cals and exercise every day and see if that helps. It's really depressing as I've been meticulous about what I eat.

All these years of yoyo dieting have caused my metabolism to stop working. Also I need to sweat every day. Uggggghhhhh.....

Bleh.

Start counting your grams of fiber along with calories. I started doing that a while back and it was amazing how LITTLE fiber I ate. You should try to eat 25-40ish or so grams of fiber; it stabilizes blood sugar levels, keeps ya feeling fuller, moves bulk waste out of the body quicker, among other things. However, I would DEFINITELY say if you only get about 10 or so grams a day already, don't add all the daily fiber in at once, lol. Increase it over a few days, otherwise you will be feeling pretty unpleasant. :)

Hi, I've just been reading your diary and you sound really on track! Congratulations on making such big changes so quickly. I know what you mean about the scales not budging... I also am considering upping my kilojoule count but I'm always worried it will just lead to me not losing weight. Perhaps something to try would be eating less on one day and more on the next.... That way you stimulate your metabolism just enough to get it moving for a day and on the next day, with your furnace burning hottt, you reduce your kJ intake to ensure a fat loss.... I've found I sometimes get favourable results with this method. Also, I just want to say I am really jealous of you living in Ireland! :)

Thanks for your post, shinsplints. Ironically I was just talking to the trainer this afternoonabout shinsplints. It's what stops me from fast walking jogging or running. :)

I'll try the hi lo cals idea. Today was 1400 so tomorrow I'll try 1250 or 1300. Does rhat sound about right?

I will wake up tomoro and exercise at six am!! I'm expecting no loss or a small gain tomoro so I'm bracing myself. If I could just lose even a few ounces I would get my mojo back!!

Was at the trainer today and I think I'll try kettlebells and even ordered a turbo jam video after all the reviews. I'll get myself a set of kettlebells if I find the workouts are effective.

Ireland is pretty great! Especially on the west coast where I live!!

:seeya: I love your journal so far and can't wait to read more! Your beautiful btw in your display pic! Keep it up and remember it is not all going to come off as fast as it came on! Stay consistent and determined and you will reach your goals. I love your name too - very creative! I have to exercise every day and sometimes twice a day to lose weight - diet alone will not do it for me. Plus I love food so I know if I want to maintain my weight loss I'm going to have to keep it up forever - I actually really love exercise once I've begun - it's getting my shoes on that's the hard part. Keep it up!!
