2 or 3 times?

im a beginner and in the sticky at the top it says that 3 full body workouts a week is best. Why does my program suggest 2 times a week? is hgm a trusted program?

I can see why you have Naruto as your avatar...you are just as stubborn as he is!!! j/k You seem like you are just as determined as he is though.
3 full body workouts a week is good because it gives you a day of rest in between each workout...pretty much giving you a great workout/rest ratio. I don't know why they suggest 2 days a week

lol thanks for noticing iv been trying to get somewhere for 2 years now and am picking up weight training kuz its the best.

so if i go for 3 times a week and w/outs are under 50 minutes i wont b overtraining? thanks for the posts

someday i will b hokage...

Thats debatably Proteinboy. It really depends on your body type.
Some people will benefit from frequently working the same muscles with only one days rest. Some (like me..) Prefer hitting each muscle group only once (or twice) in a week and giving it lots of rest.

I don't think it's overtraining. You've been working out some already, right? I think they say two times a week because it's for beginners...and their bodies are going to be sore for a longer period of time.

ya im a beginner at weight training only with the knowledge and what not. if we are talking about getting sore and how difficult exercises are-ive done them all already and know how to do them ect ect. Im definently not out of shape and i think my body can take a beating and recover fast from it.

i was thinking about sticking to 2 w/outs per week but it is for ppl who havent worked out in like 4 months. Im not like that. im thinking i will do a full body then rest the next day, and the next day; then do another full body and rest the next 2 days. Then keep repeating this.

so mon-full body

thurs-full body

Sun-full body

wed-full body

sat-full body
anyone recommend i should do more?
like that for 8 weeks; i took photos today and it was my first day doing full body workouts so i think il post phots after 4 weeks then 8.

another unrelated question: is it okay if i eat 1 minute after my w/o for my pwo meal or is there some reason you should wait?

Be careful, I hear stories from people who lifted for a couple years, start first phase and get their azzes kicked. Remember, it's a hybrid circuit, called a quad (even though it's uses triads).

You may find yourself in deep.

Start with two for a couple weeks. See how you feel.

i like to do 2 upper body and 1 lower a week
mon - upper
tues - cardio
wed - lower
thurs - cardio
fri - upper

this allows me to hit the muscles harder and longer as they will be getting more rest

alright yesterday i did the program with the triads and stuff and it was pretty challenging but nothing i couldnt handle. I am thinking about taking today and tomorrow off then doing it again. If i feel like my lifts were more difficult i will cut back. thanks, cynic :D

When you're a beginner, you're working muscle groups that probably have never been worked before. When you workout, your muscles tear, and they'll tear quite a bit at first so you have to give them more resting time. The first time I worked my triceps I was like "wow I didn't know I had those muscles" now I wait 48 hours to hit the same muscle group but that took more like more than 3 full days to recover from that. It just encourages you to get into working out slowly.
