2.5 lb. wait only on one side dangerous?

Hello all.

I see alot of recommendations for increasing resistance by around 2-3 lbs. or basically an amount in that area every week.

I don't have weights low enough to evenly distribute 2-3 lbs. or so across my barbell/dumbbells.

Is it risky to drop a 2.5 lb. free weight on only one side? Will this practice eventually uneven my entire body over time?

*edit* topic title typo wait should be "weight"
