1/4/11 213.2 pounds, 63.2 pounds to lose

Hi everyone, I'm 5'7" and currently 213.2 pounds, with a BMI of 33.4. I'm 22 years old, and I hope to be at my goal weight of 150 pounds (23.5 BMI) by the time I'm 23, which is on November 28th, 2011. That means that I want to lose 63.2 pounds. That's quite a lot of numbers there, but that pretty much sums up my "stats."

I want to accomplish my goal by going on a severe starvation diet. Just kidding, I want to eat 1,200 calories a day starting today, drink plenty of water, jog/walk outside or on a treadmill for 30 minutes 6 days a week starting January 6th, and do push-ups and sit-ups. I'll probably refine my exercise regime and diet when I have more time to figure it all out.

I'd say my goal is pretty realistic--I was at 150 on November 28th, 2009, but ever since then I rapidly gained 60 or so pounds, which wasn't so bad until I couldn't fit my 10 size jeans, started to have to wear XL shirts, and gained pretty pervasive stretch marks on both sides of my abdomen and on my stomach. Right now I'm a size 16.

When (not if!) I lose the 63.2 pounds, I'll be glad to post pictures of me, before and after.

I don't have much else to say except wish me luck and thank you all for being so inspiring on here!

[EDIT] I decided to post pictures!

LOL my heart nearly stopped when I read the sentence about the starvation diet. 1200 calories is still a bit lower than you need so don't worry if you go over a bit some days.
My advice is to take the full body pictures now as once you have lost the weight you will be proud to show them here. I wish that I had done that as I destroyed most photos of fat me and have got hardly any to show my weight loss.
Good luck, you have come to the right place for advice, support and motivation. :)

I agree that 1200 calories is a little low for someone around 200lbs. I think a better target to shoot for might be 1600-1800 calories. If you don't give your body enough fuel, it will be that much harder to resist cravings.

Best wishes to you and I look forward to reading more about your journey as you continue!!

Hey everyone, it’s been 4 days and I’ve barely made any progress. I’ve been eating more than I should at night time (I make it through the day sticking to my diet, then fail at night), and I haven’t gone to the gym yet. Maybe you both were right, ecky and Addiecakes, about how 1,200 calories is too low. I’ll aim to eat 1,600 calories now.

Anyway, I’m 211.6 pounds now, and this is after I’m done eating for today. That’s a 1.6 pound loss. Yay! At least I did not go up.

Also, I want to post pictures of me as a sort of motivating factor. I said I wouldn’t, but I’m hoping this will help me get up and go to the gym. Besides, being overweight doesn’t mean I have to hide! I get embarrassed (especially since my brother calls me fat) but I know I shouldn’t.

Hi and welcome to WLF. You are very cute and have a cute shape too.

Well I just wanted to pop by and see who you are. Enjoy the journey and keep posting. Kelly

Hey there and welcome,

It's quite a good idea to post a couple of days of your food, and then the experts here (not me :) ) may give you some good advice re nutrition. I've found one important thing is to eat more protein than I normally would. It helps keep you feeling full.

Good luck and see you round

So, it's been 16 days since I last updated. What is my progress?! For starters, I got a gym membership (yay!) and have been going at least 3 times a week. My current weight is 204.4, for a total weight loss of 8.8 pounds in almost 3 weeks.

Happychubette- Thank you! I think your avatar is really cute!

anna.banana-I'll keep your advice in mind! I have been eating plenty of protein, since I was trying to start some version of the Atkins diet (except my diet was low-fat and I did not go through with the induction phase of Atkins).

As for what I ate today, here's a list:

1 avocado

1/2 cup of quinoa

1 6 oz filet of salmon

3 tbsp of garlic spread (garlic, parsley, serrano peppers, extra virgin olive oil)

1 cup frozen yogurt with mango, blueberries, walnuts, sunflower seeds, strawberries

4 fiber bars (to flush everything out)

Well done on the loss :) and good work getting a gym membership and more importantly using that gym membership !

Hi, I'm new today and noticed you are new-ish so thought I'd drop into your diary and say hi (some of the ones with 84 pages etc are a little intimidating!)

Sounds like you're doing really well and going in the right direction :) You've lost loads of weight in such a short time.

Gym memberships are awesome to keep you focused. What kind of stuff do you do? Do you like any of the classes?
