Trying to get big muscles but lose the gut. Need Help

Im a 39 year old male, that is trying to change the way I look. I go to the gym every other day. I eat 3 times a day ( regular meals ) mostly healthy but no fast food and no processed food. I do some cardio but I work out very hard. the problem Im having is Ive been told to stop the dieting and just keep working out hard and the gut will go away. I have done that and now Im seeing the bottom of my gut getting a little bigger. I have a 4 pack but below that its all gut lol. Im not sure what to do should I go back on my diet or is there a way to lose the gut while I get bigger muscles at the same time.
 
Believe it or not u have a killer 6 pack already! U can do as many situps as u want but won't be able to see ur abs under the layer of fat. U may look bigger because ur building ur stomach muscles up and with the fat layer over them ur looking fatter. U absolutely need to lean out immediately. Stop lifting any weights (i know, that's killer!) and spend the next 4 weeks doing ONLY CARDIO!! NOTHING ELSE. u can build later. What's the point of having large muscles if u also have a big gut to go with them? Good luck.
