need fitness advice for upcoming event

Im 27, and I weigh nearly 220lbs. I wont lie to you, its mainly fat, but its all packed right around my stomach. When I was in high school I could run and run without a problem, but ive been out of the game for quite a while now so I want to get back into it. Im doing a Susan G Komen run coming up in 1 month that is a 3 mile run. I want to know what I should be eating and tips and tricks to be able to lose a decent amount of weight while also working to achieve the goal of completing the 3mile run. I could probably still run a mile right now without stopping if I tried. I think last time I tried it was like...a 9 minute mile, which is slow compared to my high school time (6:15) but I ran every day in high school. Any advice?

oh I forgot to put my height. im about 5'10, so ya 220 is a little big for my liking

well... you could start running 3 miles a day, watch your diet and cut out fats, butter, salad dressings, sauces, gravy, mayo, potatoes, milk, cheese, candy, desserts, soda.

pack on the complex carbs, lean protein, whole grains, water.

if your trying to get into shape so you can run 3 miles in a month, i wouldnt bother. but to change for a healthier lifestyle, and to use the upcoming 3 mile run as a fitness goal, would be a great improvement and a worthwhile investment of your time.

with running try doing pushups, situps, squats, etc. you will get there, but it all takes time

a healthy weight loss goal is 2 lbs a week, you may lose more than that to begin with, but dont get discouraged, if you lose more than that steadily, you are most likely losing muscle as well so it shouldnt be a goal.

hope this helps

so what exactly are a list of foods that I should be eating, and what would be a good workout/fitness schedule that I should do. I know i wont be able to run right off the bat a whole 3 miles. I could probably get back to doing a mile under 9 minutes after a week, but Im not worried about time TOO much. Id like to be able to do the 3 miles under 30 minutes for sure, but hopefully under 27 minutes. Im sure ill be losing weight from running but im also wanting to eat the right foods to lose the most weight that I can healthily, but also be eating the right stuff to give me the energy to still be able to do it.
