Losing weight is actually easy, but it takes time

I can't believe all the people out there that get scammed into dieting pills and crazy fad diets. I work with a guy that has been doing this for the last few months.

Losing weight is so easy, but don't expect it to happen in a short time frame. I may not have a degree or be a nutritionist, or whatever. But its a no brainer.

Eating is so important, I have a pretty good metabolism, but then again I also walk about 15km+ a day at work, lift weights, constantly walk flights of stairs. Now I used to be around 12-15% body fat, I wanted to get down to about 5-6% which I think I'm at now. It took about Two months.

My diet consisted of 1 glass of fruit juice, 1Litre of low fat soy milk, 1 glass fruit(smoothie), 100g of low fat yoghurt. followed by a moderate lunch a small meal for afternoon, and a small dinner. ***No processed foods*** no cheese, which meant no pizza (That was the hardest part). Ate lean meat, chick peas, and kept fat intake as low as possible, in which most of it came from stir fries. I ate things like youhgurt ice cream or sorbet, which are both low in fat. So yes you can have some deserts. Just do the exercise to burn the energy.

Now I reckon if you are struggling and you really want to lose weight, set maybe a 12 month plan. keep away from processed foods, foods high in fat, and eat in moderation. Choose low fat items where possible, (Regular Soy milk contains 8grams of protein and fat, Low fat Soy milk contains 8 grams protein and <1 g of fat.) all other liquids consumed should be H20, and lots of it.

If you can walk to work, DO IT, If you can walk stairs and not the elevator, DO IT, any chance you get to do exercise do it. Google "Office exercises" exercises can be done anywhere. I do the bulk of my resistance training at work. (Sure I look like a nut when I'm on the ground doing pushups) but I figure your already at work, why not make the most of it, and save your time at home for other things. Got friends down the road, go see them. Walk or ride. Sometimes at work, I have to transfer 100Litres of product into a storage tank. The easy solution is a 100L drum and to pump it in. Instead I take 6-7 buckets up a flight of stairs one at a time.

I reckon if you eat right, keep to a plan and do just 20 minutes a day of exercise, you will lose weight, possibly at a rate of 2-5 KG a month. over a year that works out 24-60KG Weight loss. That won't be overnight of course, but you get there in the end.

***I am not a dietician, nutritionist, or even hold a degree, but this is something that has clearly been a success for me, and I reccommend it to all***

I disagree on the first part. It is HARD and it TAKES TIME.
People are stuck in habits for years and years, it is by no means EASY to break these habits.

Good tips there though :)

5-6% body fat actually isn't very healthy. body builders only drop to that amount around a competition.

Really? and Why? Do we need to have a certain amount of fat in our bodies? My idea was to strip down on some fat so I could do more pullups and stuff, I'm trying to get into rock climbing.

I'm just guessing on 5%. I can't see it being anymore than 10%. How can I tell for sure?

I am 5'4 and 128. and have next to zero flab

losing weight can be easy if you follow the rules that apply with it. some people think they can eat big portion of pizza every day and lose weight, no way.

good info on this post, anyway. people need to be realistic and set achievable goals
