Planning for new portable fitness devices

Hi there, I am on the product planning team for portable fitness devices, I am here to find out what features are important to you. I list out a few here to start things going, perhaps I can hear back from you.

Heart Rate monitor, pedometer, calorie burnt counter, step counter. Which ones are more important and did I miss anything?

Another issue we are trying to overcome is how to motivate people to start moving. Should this device have music playback? That connects and upload your data to your friends on a social network site?

Once again, thanks.

heres a quick idea i thought up

(if it turns into a million dollar idea i want kickback)

how bout making a portable device that measures the stuff you stated

and then add a usb connecter to it so you can connect it to your PC and have a program that keeps track of it all for you.:eek2: zomg i'm rich

Waterproof it, make it so that you can track lap/split times, stores workout info, program workouts into it, maybe even a gps receiver to track mileage and speed.

Thanks illiniphase4. We did think about waterproof, but thought that making them sweatproof is sufficient. I wonder if your waterproof means waterproof (perhaps caught in the rain while running outside?) or do you think our idea of sweatproof would be alright?

Thanks cgrame, I do hope we can make a gadzillion dollars and I can give you a dime for each dollar. These days unless it is branded "Apple", nothing sell well in the portable area. I am curious to know how frequent/often do people want to have a PC program to log things down, or even share with friends via Facebook/Twitter?

I hope to get more votes from other readers about what matters to them. :)
